This album was soo good. I had a chance to see them live in the Colors era, and they were note-for-note. Obscure band, but an absolutely brilliant one
This sounds SO good, holy shit. This has to be the most-complained about album regarding guitar tone from Dusty and Paul, so I'm glad to hear the album done justice!

I heard it when it came out in 2005, my high school sophomore year. Good ol' Victory Records. If you bought a CD from a band like Hawthorne Heights or Atreyu back in the day, it'd come with a complimentary DVD of music videos of miscellaneous bands from the label trying to get you into more of the bands on the label. Such an ingenious move by them. They had a lot of lesser known bands that slapped, like Darkest Hour or A Perfect Murder, that I found through those DVDs. Such a huge and pretty diverse roster of styles for people to choose from or get into. I didn't like their slogans though. They'd always say cringe, edgy, things like "Metallica is old" "Pantera is Dead"(this one's REALLY fucked up), trying to get people to listen to their more "modern" music.

Wow... I know this album very well. Been following them since the self titled came out. I was in 5th grade I think lol. I could tell the difference within the first 3 seconds. Outstanding.

Damn this kicks ass. The layered vocals really come through beautifully. The guitars are a bit muddier and heavier which is a net improvement in my opinion.
So I now realize the only thing missing from Alaska was Jamie King's mix. This sounds incredible!

years ago i thought they already made a remaster of this album so there was a while i was scouring the internet looking for it and i heard on an interview that the band was confused that there seemed to be a version leaked or secretly released by the record company of Alaska that was slightly different than the normal CD version. this album does deserve a re-working i havnt listned to it in depth but i always knew it would be a good album to listen to i am excited for this sinc ei have been waiting for like 5 years sorta haha

@@imvengeance666 Well Jaime King didn't mix Hypersleep Dialogues, but he did mix Future Sequence. I think it would be interesting to hear a mix done by Jaime. It doesn't need a remaster etc. But Jaime has been their engineer/producer for almost everything. So why not have him put his touch on some of their best music?

@@SmashAtoms I wasn't listening for it, I guess. Probably too enamored by everything else happening in the background. I think I only focused it on now because the vocals sit in the mix better and aren't obfuscated by the guitars and drums

I remember seeing them on their tour with black dahlia murder back in like 2005 when they launched this and was blown away
Busted my lip during this song live in early 2006...When I felt this energy live...I did not care. There was so much crowd surfing/hardcore dancing/thrashing pits and I'll always enjoy that memory of this.
This, and the Silent Circus are to this day by far your best work. Glad this is getting the remaster treatment. Sounds great.
The drums have really suffered on these recent remasters. They sound like an electronic kit.
I noticed they sound a bit strange too. And I played it on my external speakers on my phone.
No way dude. You couldn't even hear the kick drum in the original mix. This is godly.
@@CheddarGetter fair point about the kick drum. But I'm just not a fan of how the drums sound on this or the silent circus remaster. And in truth they probably don't sound any different tone wise to the original mix. But perhaps those tones don't suit the new mix quite as well..at least to my ears.
@@lungfulldrummer8921 They weren't rerecorded. So there's only so much you can do. I think it sounds much better. Low budget original recording, bumping up the levels and redoing the mix only goes so far. But it doesn't sound like samples or anything IMHO. You just know the original so intimately, give your brain some time to adjust.

On that note, can't wait for wide release of the colors remaster. Such a masterful album that was just not quite mixed correctly by modern standards, low keyboard, kick, and bass guitar volume.

Seeing as you can’t get a copy of Alaska on wax for less than $150, I’m picking this up no matter how the rest of the album sounds. But basing off this song (not much info, I know) this mix sounds better to me than the Self Titled or The Silent Circus remasters

Ok guys, here is the thing. BTBAM are releasing their new remixes but what is the best way to listen to them except buing a vinyl? What streaming services have best audio quality? Do Itunes have Hi-Fi quality if you buy an album there?
