I remember hearing this when originally broadcast. I was an organ pupil of Allan, and often, after a lesson, he would play something he had been learning. The Final from Vierne 4 came as a complete revelation, and this programme is totally characteristic of his strengths as an organist.
An amazing and wonderful man as both a supreme musician and a man.

The performance of the Durufle Scherzo is very interesting as AW is clearly playing from a very early edition of the piece which contains some extra bars of material that were subsequently deleted by the composer.
