I've taken myriads of classes. I taught in school settings as well as presenting industrial training. Thought myself pretty good but I've never come close to your level of instruction. Nor have I taken any classes that come within miles of what you do. Now I could say that you speak at a good cadence for someone to get your points, which would be true. I could say that you know PS but so do a lot of other people. Today I realized that when you present a vid you present a lesson with coherence i.e. it all fits perfectly, everything fits logically. Maybe another way of saying it would be that most instruct students so 'they can get it', you instruct so a student 'can't not get it'. My hat, once again, is off to you and I send many warm lauds. I wonder if you shouldn't think about a book. After all you have a built in audience.
You have a good voice and you speak slow enough. Not like other youtubers who just speak fast and show their skills. Thanks for helping me learning more of Photoshop.
Only been shooting for two years. So much to learn. I just discovered you and I am watching furiously and taking copious notes. You are wonderful! Thank you for your great videos. I am a new fan for sure.
Thanks Unmesh, another superb tutorial to add to my workflow, I've just used "blend if", "masking", and "blend modes" today after photographing a firework display last night, thank you my friend very much appreciated 👍
I like that you repeat the crucial points. I cannot be talked down enough when learning PS.I will be checking out the other tutorials when I have mastered this method
Another great tutorial. As you said, both luminosity masks and blend ifs have equal validity and both as important as each other. However, one little point, I frequently manually focus for still life, macro, studio work and even landscapes.
Great subject matter. I learn something everytime I watch this channel. This instructor is such an awesome badass and he's great to listen to. Thank you!
Feels like such an obvious thing when you explained it. But i never thought about it! This kinda makes luminosity masks redundant. But you were right, it was important to first understand luminosity masks to understand this technique effectively. Amazing!!! thank you!!
Hi Unmesh! A quick question...Can you link multiple layer masks from different layers, so when you paint in one of them, modifications to be applied automatically in all the other ones linked? Just as a "shortcut" when you need to copy-paste same mask on numerous layers, but you don;t need to have all layers in a group :-D
hi bro, you are so brilliant and i love your command on the Photoshop. i opened youtube after 2 days and there there were like 5+ notification from your channel. I definitely love them all but i wonder if i could go through all of your tuts ... in other words i feel like you are publishing way more information than a regular working man can take.... BRO there is no OFFENCE just my opinion.... god bless you..
Luminosity masks are about blending 2 or more images to get final well balanced image. In this video you just explained blend if which is not to the point. You should show how to do exposure blending differently than using luminosity masks...
I really like to learn LM ( Luminosity Masks) and I follow a few landscape photographer. They do share the techniques of LM but difficult to understand and if i want more information is all about money... nothing is free. They give 20/30 or 50% discount but convert to asian currency, it is a big amount for landscape hobbyist like me. Thank you .. Unmesh for sharing it for free.. please a few more tutorial on LM in landscape... mayb a bit more serious LM on landscape. Thanks in advance.
First of all thanks Umesh "Da"(in Bengali it is the way to call elder brother respectfully). I am totally new in this particular software , too much interested in it and loving it as the way you teach are just awesome , i have subscribed your channel , and trying to learn editing by you only . i want to improve myself for working with this software and want to create some album on my memorable pictures , i am failing to create 12*36 album and designing it .please upload some videos on this subject i will be too grateful to you. thanking you again. with regards, Saroj Karmakar.
Very helpful . I often find that the panels which you bring up are slightly different than the panel that I get up eg “ Layer style “ and “Color range “ I am asuming that is caused because I have an earlier version of Photo Shop . I this case I could not get any of the sliders or eye droppers to work in “color range” which I don’t think is a version issue . Can you please tell me what causes this as it is limiting .
This method works if you have a very simple picture with a fairly distinct dividing line between the two areas you want to adjust. This technique doesn't even come close to working when you have a complex landscape that has a high dynamic range with complex shapes on the horizon like trees, bushes, structures, etc. Yes, it's a quick and dirty way to do some basic exposure blending with simple compositional images. Otherwise, for most landscapes shots, luminosity masks are much more powerful, and more versitile.
want to ask why only on 'sampled color' option the fuzziness and range adjustment are available while the rest option are greyed out? I'm using photoshop portable cs6
I never used luminosity masks in photoshop always blend if. then I went to affinity photo, there is use blend ranges. They have so much more capability than blend if. Its blend if on steroids. But if you are using photoshop I have always taught that luminosity masks are not needed as you can use blend if...
Can you please make a tutorial on the second layer mask? I mean photoshop allows you to use two masks but i dont understand why or what we can do with it
Thanks for this! I use Luminosity Masks a lot but I can see some advantages to the Blend-If method. On another topic, I have been searching your channel for a video covering Lr CC Classic Range Mask feature with no luck so far. Do you have plans to cover this topic? Thanks for sharing!
Guys, actually when you are adding an adjustment layer or any other adjustment layer, the properties window opens, click the mask icon on top and then choose the color range option than do the rest. Easiest way to do that.
First of all, thank you for doing what you do! Your work is inspiring! :-) What if you want to blend luminosity levels or exposures from, say, three differently exposed images? I'm looking for a method to create more realistic looking HDR images without using HDR software. It would be nice to see how you would tackle that challenge! :-)
Love your videos!!!! I tried to follow the Color Range instruction on 3:09. I am working in CS6 and when I select Highlights in the selection box, Fuzziness, Range and all he pickers are greyed out. For the world, I cannot figure out why. I am using the same image that you use. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
When editing raw photos you usually work with 16bit images containing a lot of dynamic range, the blend-if option only has 256 “steps”, a luminosity mask on a 16bit image can have up to 65536 “steps” if I’m not mistaken.

What you mean is they can not miss getting it when he instructs
You have a good voice and you speak slow enough. Not like other youtubers who just speak fast and show their skills. Thanks for helping me learning more of Photoshop.
Only been shooting for two years. So much to learn. I just discovered you and I am watching furiously and taking copious notes. You are wonderful! Thank you for your great videos. I am a new fan for sure.
I have been doing PS for twenty-five years and yet this refresher helped core understanding. You will go far with excellent presentations skills!
Thanks Unmesh, another superb tutorial to add to my workflow, I've just used "blend if", "masking", and "blend modes" today after photographing a firework display last night, thank you my friend very much appreciated 👍

Bravissimo e molto chiaro, sei un esempio da imitare!!!
Another excellent tutorial. I am pleased that you made this tutorial. It is easier for me to apply this method than the “regular” luminosity mask.
You are incredible. Incredibly helpful and talented as a teacher with amazing knowledge.
Thank you.
Feels like such an obvious thing when you explained it. But i never thought about it! This kinda makes luminosity masks redundant. But you were right, it was important to first understand luminosity masks to understand this technique effectively. Amazing!!! thank you!!
You never cease to amaze me , best youtube channel out there...Thank you
Thanks a lot for this method, it's the most useful tuto I have seen this last time

Learned a lot of things from ur tutorials bro.... You are the best..Love you bro.. 💜💜
I have learnt a lot from watching your videos. Thanks very much, they are great for users who have a basic understanding of photoshop

This is the first time that I have watched an easy explanation from your videos.
Big tks for great ideas !!!! But what happen if we Group an adjustment layer and masked it with the mask ? we can show/hide the mask again ?
Brilliant instruction. Many thanks.
Great way of teaching!

I'm Nicos Syrimis youre the best teacher in youtube very clear anderstanding every ward you say thanks a lot!!!
Very nice tutorial , just one little comment. You can use copy layer style to copy the blend if settings from one layer to another.
You could use blend if on a group instead of the layer to resolve the no copying issue
Hat's off. You are a very good tutor.
Difficult method made simple and easy...super cool....Unmesh...you are the man!Great!!!
You need so many more views, these are the best photoshop tutorials I've seen.
I agree with you brother!
Great tutorial. It gets a little harder to follow towards the end, when there is the back and forth between the two method..
An excellent video with great instruction on a topic that has challenged me. This makes everything clearer. Thanks!
You should make a 2 - 5 minute video where you just cut to the chase and show off your method.... it's great, you're excellent, thanks for sharing.

Great video! You can put the short cuts in video if you like and not have to worry about saying them.

Are you really Jimmy McIntyre lol?
Excellent ...
So we have the alternatives to luminosity mask to adjust the photo effect, wow, what a great tutorial again, Unmesh U r rich.
want to ask why only on 'sampled color' option the fuzziness and range adjustment are available while the rest option are greyed out? I'm using photoshop portable cs6
You're bloody good brother
i love watching your videos
if i may say 1 thing: that background is not needed.
the plain-white was perfect = classy ;)
you are a great man! cheers from Italy!
Awesome video

Harald Warholm search for jimmy mcintyre.
first time I hear you say a curse word :) , also you rock dude thanks for refreshing my skills and teach me new ones.
could you not copy the layer style and paste it to the vibrance layer?
Love your videos!!!! I tried to follow the Color Range instruction on 3:09. I am working in CS6 and when I select Highlights in the selection box, Fuzziness, Range and all he pickers are greyed out.
