New video from the State Banquet given by Their Majesties The King and Queen of Sweden - King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden in honour of Their Majesties The King and Queen of the Netherlands - King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. This is for the occation of the official State Visit from the Netherlands with the King Couple from the Netherlands in Sweden 11-13 October 2022.
You also se Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Prince Daniel of Sweden and Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, Princess Sofia of Sweden. Alos in the end Princess Christina, Ms Magnuson of Sweden arrives with her husband Tord Magnuson.

The sight of Queen Maxima's Stuart tiara alongside Queen Silvia's Braganza tiara is impressive. I am not sure if that much bling is appropriate though when many people in Europe will have to choose between eating and heating in the upcoming winter.

It's a valid point in hard economic times, but during the Depression, how many "Grapes of Wrath" (which was actually released after the Depression had been overcome) were there and how many expensive, spectacular, opulent Busby Berkeley movies and the like? A bigger question is what the purpose of the banquet and even the visit was when the two kings do not make any decisions affecting their people? It's not like he two kings and queens have never met before or are unaware of Zoom or are unable to meet for tea and crumpets without all the fanfare if they feel like it. One must assume, then, that the purpose is the glitter and the opulence, which gives the citizenry some escape from their daily worries. In many of their duties, like commemorating the ends of wars or opening hospitals, the royal families represent their nations. It's hard to see how this activity fits that scenario.

They are taking pictures of the guests as they come in. I wonder why the Scandinavian monarchies allow cameras inside the Palace before state dinners. That doesn't happen in the UK and Spain for example, except for the photographers of the Royal House itself.
@@BucyKalman Most of the guests look so awkard. No real elegance, except for the royals. Same thing at the Nobel Banquet every year. That's how it is in Sweden!
