Thanks James for the review. I think a lot of people judge this amp by it not being able to double in power in 4 ohms. Some people even said the Vidar is better because it can double in power at 4 ohms. Not to mention people laugh at the 'only' 75w rating. Behind the scenes, I have many different TS A75 developed. One version is 150w in 8 ohms with even better parts and bigger capacitors. Why that amp will never come to market? Because of the sound. There is much more than specs to good sound. The only thing with the TS A75 I realized after selling a lot is you need a synergistic preamp to go with it. At least 2v output. If you put a Schitt Freya+ with it, you actually lose 15% to 20% bass output and less soundstage, interesting.
Good notes Thomas.
Thanks for sharing with the community.
We all loved this amp and man is there some magic in there. 😉😉
Follow up reviews for sure. 👍🏼
Have you tried it with a Schiit Kara instead? That is my planned preamp…unless I can manage to wait for the Galion preamp to launch!
@@JMN_ALC I have not
does it have soft start ?
I'm running it with a Eversolo A6 ME with LPS as a pre. With balanced inputs it's very good, A bit less with the RCA. Using RCA with a Buchardt I150 as a pre it's extremely good. That combo makes the S400mk2 really shine.
I’m using theTS A75 driving Maggie 3.6R’s like it was a 500 W per channel amp. It drives the speakers like it was child’s play. I am amazed that it meets or better every term in the audiophile lexicon. My AUDIO RESACH VT-100 Mk III IS NOW SITTING ON THE FLOOR AND IT WAS REMARKABLE SOUNDING AS WELL BUT I CAN’T BRING MYSELF TO PUT IT BACK INTO MY SYSTEM BECAUSE THE A75 IS BEYOND BELIEF. And I’ve been an audio file for more than 65 years and had so many components over these years that I can’t remember them all. I’m stunned!
Wow... Yea, great little amp, especially for the money. :)
I love mine! Will not part. I am selling all the amps that lead me to the TS A75. I have them running my Magnepan LRS+ w/GR Research Crossover and it runs them like a champ! This is an amazing product that comes along every decade or so. Fantastic!
@@cpodurnell3701 awesome. Great feedback.
What size room are they in?
I am looking at one right now. It is very, very good. It is not V shaped . The mids are warmish. A bit pre-amp dependent. Sounded awesome with Carson's M-DAC as a pre. WOW! Great review my friend. Thx.
Thanks buddy. Such a killer little amp.
Since the early 70's, audio engineers have mentioned that for the best power amps, always look for simplicity. First appearance should be the less whistles and bells, the better. Dual mono blocks, power on/off switch, XLR inputs, solid shielded speaker cable outputs, and a well vented chassis/ heat sinks, is all really need, (aside from high quality components). Forget all the specs. and let your hearing preferences be the judge.
@@walterpen371
Heck yea. Solid advice. And the Galion A75 hits all those marks. 👍🏼👍🏼
Would love to see a review of the topping b200 monoblocks and how this compares thats $1200 for a pair for 200/w channel with stellar reviews so far. But would still love to support someone in the community with his tireless efforts
That would be fun. My guess is two different tools for two different jobs.. ;) I bet the B200 is more linear and neutral. But speculation of course.. HA Would love to hear one.
I cant wait to hear it. My vote of best amp under $1500 so far would be the Hypex Nilai Stereo DIY at $1300. Sounds nothing like the older Hypex & i cant imagine anything better for the money. But im always open to hear the next contender.
All of Thomas’s components are worthy
I think it is funny when 75 watts is not enough power
I live in a 7 watt-ish world
If I needed more power I would definitely consider it
@@middleearthltd
Exactly. My favorite amp is 3 watts. 🤣🤣
If you're driving bookshelf speakers, you don't get the efficiency boost of multiple bass drivers, so you do need quite a bit of power for low efficiency bookshelf speakers.
@@shanerorko8076
We tried the A75 on a multitude of smaller speakers. Zero issues. The A75 has plenty of output on deck. 👌👌👌
I’m running a pair of Polk Legend 200 bookshelves that are rated 4 ohms. This amp drives them beautifully. It also drives my Mofi Sourcepoint 10 to amazing levels. I would not really consider those bookshelves. I like the amp.
@@Final_Resolution I should clarify, 75w is plenty for most bookshelf speakers, but a 30w amp may struggle on some bookshelves with low extension bass.
My question & maybe someone as already asked this but can this amplifier drive Maggie's? If that has been answered can you direct me to where? Really like all the viedos you have made since I subscribed.
@@peterlundskow4061
Thanks Peter.
I would reach out to Thomas directly. He’s a pretty honest dude.
The answer is literally the comment above yours.

Watts is not current and current is the most important thing for drive. A 30w amp can out do a 100w amp purely on current..Amps are important not watts 🙂
Totally. Just sharing as everyone always talks about watts in amp. 😁😁
I don't have a comment bar.
Why don't you send it to Gene, let him put it on his bench test.
I want to see some #,s and see what he says.
I think its just entry level and way over priced.
2 channel and no XLR
I don't care who built it.
It's not like McIntosh built it.
At least present some specifications with your review.
@@markmcfeaters9116 Mmm could you please tell me what you are talking about???
@@markmcfeaters9116 it’s a $1500 amp, not expensive. Reach out to Galion for specifics. Sheesh man. Just sharing my experience. You put in your own work.
Yep. That's why it's called an amplifier and not a wattifier.
I was surprised that Tharbamar wasn’t too impressed by this amp
Personal preference is real. 😊🙌
@@abxaudiophiles for sure. I haven’t found anything better than Van Alstine for the money to date.
@@seanb3303 awesome. 👏🏼
It is possible because he used the Schitt Freya+ as a preamp for his evaluation, he lost 15% to 20% of the bass. The problem with the TS A75 is although 90% of the time it is fine, I have reports from 2% of the customers, that they lost soundstage and bass with a budget preamp in the chain. He did tell me he will try with another preamp eventually and hopefully, it will change his experience and experience what every other UA-camr and customer has experienced.
@@ThomasAndStereo thanks for your input. Another thought is maybe output impedance of freya is not a good match. But yeah should always use multiple preamps when assessing a power amp 😉
Today i learned Carson is from the east coast 😂 Looking forward to the Typhon review!
Coming soon! 🤣🤣🤣
Argh…now I want to try the Galleon! Here trying the Duo and LOVING it 🙏🏼
@@riccitone - Both great at what they do!!
Duo is awesome, neutral, and great performance. Nice bass.
@@abxaudiophiles Thanks for everything you’re doing James!
@@riccitone
It’s my pleasure and thank you. 🙏🏼
Do you feel it outperforms the First Watt 7 when paired with the Fortes? Would love your honest thoughts as I am a new Forte IV owner and these 2 amps are on my list of considerations.
@@freakin13guy
Man, that’s a tough one.
One will be more vocal and realism forward, one will be more bass and performance forward. Have you looked at the new Galion class A ?
@@abxaudiophiles The Galion S20 certainly has my attention too.. so which of the amps is the more “vocal realism forward”?
@@freakin13guy Class A in my experience will always lead to that.
Would this amp pair well w Klipsch RP8000 F?
I have not had the 8000 in room. I don't see why it would not?
I know that Thomas is working on a preamp, but that won't be brought to market til this winter. In the meantime, synergistically speaking, what preamp works best with this A75 amp? Thomas mentions a preamp capable of 2v output. Are there preamps out there that meet that spec?
The only thing I’ve heard is not the Freya+, which is funny, cus I have the Freya+ and I thought it sounded good. 😂😂😂
Lots of them meet the 2v single ended output and 4v balanced.
@@abxaudiophiles You know, I thought Thomas might have been confusing the single ended RCA voltage output with impedance matching. Most know about the 10:1 rule between separates. That's why I was scratching my head.
@@mortimersnerd1348
Yea, I’m not sure myself. Not that smart about it all. 😀😀. Just trying to understand why the Freya+ would not work as well and all I can think is that it has a lower output than most pre amps on the single ended outputs.
@@mortimersnerd1348
I think the Freya+ has like a 1.5mv output on the single ended side ??
Give me 2 Orchard Audio premium class D monoblocks any day. Though the this amp is a great one, especially for the money!
Yea $1500 vs $5000 but yea, I get you. 👌👌
@@abxaudiophiles I meant the 150watt ones! They are approx. $1250 each!! My bad for not being clear! The other ones are not out officially until October!
@@abxaudiophiles I meant the 150watt ones! A lot less than The big ones!!
@@abxaudiophiles I meant the the 150Watt ones not the 500watt ones! Close costs work but the $5000K are an infair comparison for the money.
How does this compare with an emotiva dr2? I know you loved that amp.
I would take the A75 over any modern EMO amp hands down, zero question. Both great, but for a dedicated listening space, A75 is my jam.
What would you say to someone undecided between this route and the Starkrimson GanFet based amplification ?
@@27b-6Buttle
Great question!
I’d say it depends on your goals and needs.
If you want zero coloration, and a totally neutral amplifier that’s just focused on performance and minimal impact on source, then OA… If you want a more classic take and musicality with a beautiful soundstage and spaciousness and air, and you enjoy a slight v curve and fun amp, then A75 all day!
Either way, you can’t really go wrong.
😊👌
@@abxaudiophiles I have no idea my preference. I have been able to compare lots of cheaper solutions.
I have Sansui receivers. I do like them more than any AVR, no surprise.
I have a Denon DRA-335 that is distinguishable with a Sansui 4000 by mostly sound stage size and instrument placement. Sansui wins here.
I am curious of the technical impact of a tighter control of the woofers that GanFet offers. Might be something I like better because I am most dazzled by amplification that can go quiet real fast.
Thanks James
You are welcome my friend
You mentioned you bought the Orchard Duo but you did not say how they compare. So, how do they compare? How about the Purifi Eval amp for $1K you can get from VTV or the $1250 Nilai stereo amp kit? The Nilai does 250 watts into 8 and 4 ohm......and Nilai mono block kits do 260 into 8 ohm and 500 watts into 4 ohm and cost $1600 (super easy to build...no soldering required....they even supply needed tools). You really need to listen to these amps. Modding them will bring more sonic delights.
All different animals and great options. 😊😊
Check out the review on the OA stuff.
Cheers. 🍻
I would be interested in your views of regeneration, I have read & watched alot on how it is snake oil & tests have shown they don't do anything but, other people swear by them.
@@peterlundskow4061
Yea, always a few different camps on stuff like that for sure. 👍🏼
Personally I felt the overall level of background noise significantly diminished, especially on my phono section.
But who knows, I may have just drank too much cool aid. 🤣🤣🤣
@@abxaudiophiles Thanks for both replies so quickly, great channel!
This is a nice amp, shame that by the time it would get to Australia it would be well over $3,000aud.
For that sort of money, I can get a valve amp here for about $3,900 which would drive the baby baffles fine, plus I can get 18" OB subs cheap here too.
Actually, it would be around $2500 AUD including shipping and customs depending on the exchange rate, which is around what my customers paid in Australia.
@@ThomasAndStereo sorry I was just guessing shipping and any duties.
@@shanerorko8076 Oh no need to be sorry, you raised a good question and it gave me the chance to let a lot of people know who might have shy away from it because they correctly and logically assume there are other fees.
i would get the a20, pure class a is better than class ab
I mean, it’s different, not really better.
That's a much more expensive amplifier
Gain is 33dB, probably not a good match for efficient speakers.
Great match for highly efficient speakers. My 97db baffles and 99db forte loved it.
@@abxaudiophiles What is the gain of your preamp?
@@Licoricedisc
Depends on which one, we used a handful. All worked well. Pairing and synergy is a thing. Know your gear and how it interacts and it’ll all work out.
@@abxaudiophiles I was really wondering how this would sound on a pair of fortes, Great to hear I think this thing is built really well and looks like an amazing value for the money. I'm working on building a Pass DIY F5M right now but if I was in the market for an amplifier this would be at the top of my list at this price
Well done. Wuf. 🐻
Thank you sir.
