Great comparison, simple and fair. Love them both, but I think the MU has a bit more ambience to my ear. Although, I have other Joyo pedals and they are all incredible sounding and durable. Tough choice - buy both!
The one thing the joyo has the upper hand with is simplicity. The M-Vave has a bit of option parallelism with the controls as they can differentiate from setting to setting so dependent on which setting you have it on they can differentiate immensely
Oh I'm so buying that mini universe! Thank you for demo. Your guitar playing is 100% more tasteful & enjoyable than some stuff I've heard demoing that pedal!!
Did you get it? If so, how are you enjoying the POP when you engage it? I really liked mine, lotsa ambient fun and knobtweaking... but couldn't get past the pop BS so it came off the board.
Good evening dear friend, I have the effect from Joyo - JOYO Atmosphere in my collection, I like it, it is a very good effect considering the price and control options (generally the whole R series). The second effect of the M-VAVE Mini Universe seems to me to be very pleasant, high quality, even including the +++ sound. I wish you well before midnight (our time). Greetings Pavel CZ.👍👍👍
thanks for the demo - the one i am waiting for a demo of is the Rowin LN-318 TOP Guitar Booster Pedal please do a demo of this you will be the first one to do it
I have both. The Joyo is on my main board and is always on. It's one of the best FX purchases I have ever made. I bought the MU for the shimmer and use a volume pedal on it. What a sound that is. Both units are excellent value for money. I am happy to gig the Joyo but the M-Vave generally stays at home, as it does seem a little flimsy. Update: during its few hours of use the MU developed four faults, one of which makes it unusable. It's a shame. The sound was fantastic. A robust version of this unit would be great. I have a Hall of Fame 2 that will replace it. The Joyo Atmosphere remains my favourite reverb.
I was able to get the mini universe at a super low price and it is one of my favorite pedals to make sounds with now. It just stays at home, so hopefully it will remain in working order. I am thinking about getting another one just to have on hand in case this one breaks 😂 it does seem a bit flimsy. Especially the knobs.
The thing that is valuable about this pedal is that the sounds are pretty unique, but I fear that they will soon be discontinued, and those who haven't had time to buy one will never get these sounds.
Thank you for this great comparison video featuring just the sound and the instruments 👍🏻 • Definitely the Mini Universe is the clear winner here. It features very pleasant frequencies at most settings. • The Joyo is nice but not as "sweet" sounding as its cheaper counterpart. Joyo tends to sound too metallic when tone knob is open clockwise, it resonates too much for my ears (tiring in the long run). ✅ I just bought 2 x Mini Universes, I have now a magnificent and versatile stereo reverb for less than €70 (less than the cost of just one Joyo Athmosphere). ❤ That's using money wisely with no compromise in sound quality, which is always the first to be looked at. 📽️ [I'll make a video with the stereo setup when is ready, feel free to follow my channel, a bunch of stuff is in the pipeline. coming in next months] ❓QUESTION: are you using an EHX Attack Decay pedal out of camera?
I'd get the M-Vave for the cloud, bloom, swell functions only. I haven't seen any other pedal with these functions. Looking forward to trying these functions. Will let you know!
the mini is best reverb for the money 31£ joyo 70£ however if you live gig and want it on your board there are unwanted noises you cant seem to fix when linking up with some power hungry pedals great for practice or playing direct to sound interface in studio no amp
I bought 3 mini universe stacking all 3 always on pedal, price wise mini universe wins, build quality the joyo wins, btw what patch cable are you using here Perry? Always a fan of ur vids since the pandemic.
For me, why choose when you can buy both? They're not as expensive as the Big Sky or Big Sky MX. The only thing to consider is the space on your pedal board. I still have pretty much a lot of space and like my dirt pedals, would like to stack them.
I tried a mini universe but it was very noisy and it sounded like my amp was blowing up whenever I touched the foot switch. I saw the workaround but ehhh … maybe I should give the Joyo a chance? I appreciate you demonstrating these … and really enjoying your music too
The Joyo is excellent. I have had none of the noise problems that some people have reported from the M-Vave. Update: after a few hours mine developed different problems. Four of them. It is unusable.
I experience noise problems with the mini universe at first, but it did not work when being powered with my daisychain, I used a separate power supply to the mini universe, and it sounds amazing.
@@MichaelDooleyProject It is sometimes strange how a unit will not share a power supply. My MEL9 needs its own PSU, even though the multi-supply on that board is more than adequate. Daisy chains are fairly likely to cause problems and you are lucky that you can use yours. I shall never try one again.
Any of you guys who like the M-Vave, what is up with specifically the loud sound when you engage the footswitch? Is that what goes away when you use a dedicated power supply? That's the one thing I heard about the Mini Uni that would make me say "no way".
BEWARE with the M-Vave Mini Universe though, it might be half the price of Joyo Atmosphere but there will be a foot switch issue for Mini Universe. It makes a very loud "crushing rocks" sound when you switch it on/off. Trust me, it's annoying! Also, it has no "Trail" feature - that means, the effects will cut off the moment you switch the pedal off.
M VAVE manke loud banging noise when button engaged, cannot be switched on during a performance really should be on all the time and used with and effect switch controller. also seems to have a high pitched wine.
atmosphere has a switch on back TRAIL function switch, this is for switching on, or off the Trail function. The trail allows the effect tone to fade out and sound much more natural between switching the pedal on and off. So you decide how you want it, you can opt for a natural fade, or fast cut off.
I had the JOYO Atmosphere and while it sounded ok, whenever it was switched on, it would lower my signal and everything I tried, including buffers etc, did not fix the issue..it was very annoying and unusable at home or live! I sold it an dam now getting the Mini-Universe...we will see how that works?
you cant compare 30£ to 80£ and 80£ for a pedal you want it to at least have stereo or right left in and out Atmosphere 80£ universe 30£ you realy cant get much at all in reverb for 30£ so its best for 30£ range now the joyo is priced with Zoom MS-70CDR Guitar Effects Pedal chorus delay reverb or FLAMMA FS02 Reverb Guitar Pedal Stereo 74£ black country reverb or fender reverb many others in 80£ price range to compare atmosphere to but you cant compare it to 30£ and the atmosphere falls short in that price range its not stereo like some others in that price range

I think also that the MU does make a Little bit more ambience
I have both, and the Atmosphere feels a little more thick than the Universe but this have more parameters and long sounds... great review

I agree, they're both a good value for money

@@aviatedviewssound4798 No, I just never got around to doing anything about it. I now use a Hall of Fame 2 on the third board instead.
