    Fly fishing for trout, fly fishing for Cutthroat in the Pacific Northwest has been a passion of mine for the last 40 years. I have spent most of my life fly fishing the great Pacific Northwest to include fly fishing in Alaska, fly fishing in Washington, fly fishing in Oregon, fly fishing in Idaho and fly fishing in Montana. I generally will fly fish and practice catch and release when fly fishing for trout, but I have been known to catch and cook during camping trips to many of my favorite fishing spots. I love to fly fish lakes in the higher elevation, though I have a few lowland lakes that are fly fishing only that are also on my most favorite list. I have a ton experience fly fishing rivers for trout and always enjoy discovering new rivers to fly fishing in and around the greater Pacific Northwest. I am also an accomplished at casting a fly rod - whether it is fly fishing casting for distance, fly fishing casting for accuracy, the double haul, roll cast, tower cast and many more fly fishing casting techniques - I can show you the basics when it comes to casting a fly rod. I also will cover many topics that relate to getting started with fly fishing. From your basic fly fishing setups, flies and fly boxes - we cover all the fly fishing needs for beginners. Thanks for taking the time to tune into FlyFishDan and I hope you consider subscribing to my fly fishing channel. Cheers and FISH-ON!!!

    Outcast makes some great boats. I have an older fat cat when the seat and back were inflatable bladders rather than foam. Folds up much smaller when deflated. Diver neoprene booties with a firm sole are my go to footwear.

    I have a version of this and I love it. It has the dual bladder, but no straps for an extra rod.
    :(. Still I love it. It's awesome in lakes without channels or heavily reedy spots. But anytime people ask about it, I have to admit that going backwards all day can be a pain. That said, it beats a boat any day when the water levels go down and the ramps get closed. I've had it two years and it's really improved my access to all sorts of water.

      I love to the two bladder systems but not having the straps for the second rod would make me nervous!

      @@FlyFishDan I bet I could rig something up. It's got grommets i could attach some sort of holder to. A project for the winter perhaps.

    Dan, by my count, this is your 241st published video since beginning your channel on 5/2020? Is that almost 3 video's per week? With editing, that is like a full time job!

    • @FlyFishDan
      @FlyFishDan  2 роки тому +1

      Yes it is! I think mostly is because I enjoy doing this so much, it’s still just a hobby, still very layman terms and my editing wonderfully imperfect. This last video took me 20 minutes to edit :)). Thanks for taking the time to be part of my channel - I do appreciate it! Cheers!

    Saw a guy out at Sawhill in Boulder with one of these yesterday. Looked like a lot of fun. I was fly fishing for bluegills on the shore like a chump. Getting one of these bad boys today.

    I'm kinda thinking of getting one of these but the 250 weight limit is intimidating. Me with gear, water and snacks is easily above 250lbs.

    Ok silly question I'm sure!.... Have you ever flipped right over in your float tube from leaning forward towards your fins to much???

    • @FlyFishDan
      @FlyFishDan  2 роки тому

      It's not a silly question at all - I had a float tube back in the old days that almost did just that! Scared the heck out of me...the new boats, especially the 'U' boats won't tip.

    Thanks for the video! We just got two float tubes and they are GoPlus, they came with fins, and a pump and a paddle. I can't wait to use mine. is it hard ? Do you flip over or anything like that? For the flippers I plan on using water socks because I have smaller feet and the flippers are a bit big, anyone ever use water socks?

    • @FlyFishDan

      You are most welcome! I have been fishing in a float tube for many years and they are really super safe. I am tall and even with my height I have never come close to flipping over - you should be good! I have big feet so I've never had to worry about the water socks. Thanks for watching!

    Hold on, I’ve been using float tubes for 34 years up here on the west coast and I’ve never seen anyone wear their wading boots into the lake . Just place your neoprene sock foot into a pair of fins . I can see if you’re hiking or portaging where you’d need to be suited up but usually lakes aren’t to far off and we just get into our waders on the beach and stow our shoes In the top pocket.

    • @FlyFishDan
      @FlyFishDan  2 роки тому

      First time for anything perhaps? I have always wore wading boots with fins. I like having the option to get out and walk if I need to...others, your stuck!

    • @WimU2b
      @WimU2b Рік тому

      Been floating for 30 years or so too. Sometimes you have to pee or stretch your legs or so. That would cost me a suit per year without my neoprene surfer boots. And you have to walk to, and from the water...

    Is something like this safe to use on a river such as the deschutes with up to class iii rapids?

    • @FlyFishDan
      @FlyFishDan  8 місяців тому +1

      Not at all - float tubes are not safe for any river applications. I would look into a pontoon boat or Water Master raft.
