VF is the original father of 3D fighting games, SEGA are the pioneers of pretty much all of the high level ways we see and are playing games today, they always went first with technology/innovation and were 5-6 years ahead of anyone else. Shenmue literally birthed open world AAA games, they didn't exist before SEGA embarked on their ambitious project way before anyone else even thought about it! I could be here all day trying to give you a history lesson, but haven't the time or the inclination. A new VF hasn't been seen in nearly 20 years, but yet look at how well VF5 has aged, this just shows you how far ahead SEGA were. If you were there you were there, but if you were born after say 1990? Unlucky.
I'm thinking theyre adding whoever the main characters of Project Century to Virtua Fighter, I think that's what they meant as "shared universe" If theyre not making another Shenmue game, just immortalize Ryo Hazuki and other main characters in Shenmue by adding them to Virtua Fighters' main roster...that's literally what KOF did with Ikari Warriors and Psycho Soldiers, preserving their brands.

VF4 Evo had the best training mode/learning tools ever. I never understood why they bailed on it after that one. You could learn everything inside the game which was insane at the time.

So, to summarize on the new VF : - This is a soft-reboot, Akira is much older than in VF5 - It’s not Sarah but Stella (maybe Sarah’s or Jacky's daughter) - The stage design is directly from Tekken 4/VF3!!!
It's very crazy VF is back, I hope they actually give it an actual story with Akira's new look & Sarah's potential student or even daughter now because the only story this series ever gotten was Jeffery's quest to kill the devil shark & I think it'll be nice to know more of these characters besides their realistic fighting styles
That's not true, the series has always had pretty cool on going lore for most of the cast. The Bryant siblings struggles againat J6 kidnapping Sarah for the Dural project, Kage's mom being brainwashed and becoming Dural, Pai Chan's beef with her dad and the changing dynamic as his health deteriorates and Lei-Fei causes problems, Goh being an ass*ssin (being careful for UA-cam lol) from J6 on the run while Jean is sent to target him etc. The issue is just the series' really weird insistence on just... Not showing that story off much at all in the games themselves to the point where all these longtime fans seem to genuinely believe there just isn't any lore. Hopefully as mentioned in the direct they will emphasize it more going forward in the new game. I don't need like a Blazblue level story mode, but just like, summaries in a gallery mode and arcade intros/endings would be a good start lol.

With the chains clanging everywhere he walks? Why is Goh has a ghost face? Is he a zombie? I fell in love immidiately when I saw Goh the first time in VF4. Too bad he's too hard for me. But I was really intrigued with his design and want to know more about his backstory, but none could be found in the game itself. He's basically just a "pale-faced judoka" lol.

The director was spot on. What VF needs are "innovation" and "reality." SEGA hasn't been able to provide both of them until now, especially with suppoet from Nvidia. I was there when the first 3D fighting game launched and it was insane! It was indeed "innovation" and "reality."
One of my most favorite memories in gaming is when I was reading the latest EGM on the way to Cedar Point. VF was the cover (issue 59). I was blown away by the screenshots and so excited for the future of gaming (this was SEGAs next big 3D game after Virtua Racing). That issue had the basic combos as part of the feature and I was just enthralled by the game I had learn as much as I could. Low and behold when we finally arrived, what did they have at the arcade at the front there? VF. I was flabbergasted that I could play a revolutionary game as soon as I learned about it. I was able to take away some wins because I knew the game mechanics and basic combos before anyone else did. VF is a an incredible franchise.
I've only played VF off an on in my childhood and a little a few years ago, but this looks incredible! Happy for all the fans who get to experience this.
I always wanted to get into VF but never did. Some gripes I had against the series is I always thought the character designs were bland and the sound design didnt have enough punch to it, but I plan to get into vf revo

Base VF5 came out in arcades in '06 and consoles in '07. It's essentially been 18 years. And this game probably won't be coming out for a long while so we're still in the wait, but I'm glad we're here now.
I just wished Soul Calibur went back to the fundamentals that made it great, like VF, instead of all the dumb resource bars and reversal edge..and many other things. I might actually go back into VF5 and play for real.

VF6 is long overdue! SO HAPPY right now! I just played the VF5 REVO beta an PC. It was awesome! VF is back BABY!

One of my most favorite memories in gaming is when I was reading the latest EGM on the way to Cedar Point. VF was the cover (issue 59). I was blown away by the screenshots and so excited for the future of gaming (this was SEGAs next big 3D game after Virtua Racing). That issue had the basic combos as part of the feature and I was just enthralled by the game I had learn as much as I could. Low and behold when we finally arrived, what did they have at the arcade at the front there? VF. I was flabbergasted that I could play a revolutionary game as soon as I learned about it. I was able to take away some wins because I knew the game mechanics and basic combos before anyone else did. VF is a an incredible franchise.

The new logo looks to close to Street Fighter 6's. Keeping the old classic logo around would have brought a nice breath of fresh air classic feeling to the current fighting game scene

I just really hope VF steps into new era and make the game look and feel exciting….it don’t gotta go Tekken 8 crazy but for example the sound effects for attacks needs to get better that sound effect in VF5 just sounds so outdated

Base VF5 came out in arcades in '06 and consoles in '07. It's essentially been 18 years. And this game probably won't be coming out for a long while so we're still in the wait, but I'm glad we're here now.
I like how Bahn fought Lei-FEI, and then fought stella.
I just wished Soul Calibur went back to the fundamentals that made it great, like VF, instead of all the dumb resource bars and reversal edge..and many other things. I might actually go back into VF5 and play for real.
I used to play VF2 a lot as a kid when I went to Sweet Mesquite in Houston. I can’t wait to revisit my childhood.
