Oh my god, you poor girl. I'm so so sorry that happened to you. You did the right thing by telling your viewers, especially those of us who live in London. It's unfortunate that people need to be reminded to stay vigilant and look out for danger, but it's true. I was at South Bank last week and a man with a knife was tackled to the ground by like 10 police officers and I was trapped in the middle of it. There are some absolute monsters out there! I am so disgusted.

This happened to my mother in law, they broke her pelvis, she was in hospital for ages and never walked properly again. she got over the fright though and you will too. Those horrendous cretins deserve all bad karma. Best wishes sent Amelia.

Most important - when you get in your car “immediately lock your door” ! Then you can adjust or check your phone, fasten seat belt etc. But, your safe in a locked car. And, always check your surroundings .

I have this habit as well. Also keep my keys in my pocket in case my bag gets stolen so that I can get home and don’t have to worry about changing my locks etc. I always check my back seats before I get in but I know I am a bit paranoid on that one 🙄x

I’m so sorry! Of course this horrible event effected you! In my city, elderly Chinese people are being attacked, and it’s so horrible!!! Luckily, people in my neighborhood keep an eye out for our elderly neighbors. They’re so sweet and outgoing. 😔 In my 20’s, I was held up by gunpoint. I’m naturally pretty chill, but this rocked my chill for months. Yes, the dreams were all more scary than what actually happened, but I recognized it was my brain working out the fear, and it was helpful to me. Give yourself grace, and you’ll be fine. 💐🤗

I am so sorry this happened to you and your friend. Thank God no one was not hurt. We live in crazy pandemic times and it has made some people very desperate. Sending you love, blessings, healing, strength, hope, strength and hugs. Remember Harry Styles not too long ago had a confrontation with some thieves. Things you can do to help are meditation, mindfulness, exercise and fresh air and healthy eating . Keep a journal and of course the counselling ❤️ be extra kind to yourself and remember, the way you are responding is perfectly normal. Keep talking xx

I'm so sorry that happened. If you have trouble sleeping try a full spectrum light. You set the light to the brightest setting and sit next to it on a table, desk, couch. You put the light where light enter your eyes. Don't stare directly into the light just right next to it. You can purchase the light on amazon or online. You have to use the light for three weeks for 40 mins on highest setting. I have been suffering from insomnia for years and the full spectrum light helped me finally sleep. I hope this helps. Please stay strong!

I'm so sorry this happened and hope you're coping okay! Something similar happened to me and it shook me for a WHILE. I used to live in London Bridge, 1min from Borough Market and around lockdown 1 I noticed how the area became unsafe when dark because there were suddenly no tourists, no businesspeople, nothing was open late and nobody was out so only homeless people. However my incident was in daylight. Around 1pm I had come out of the post office to the bustling street which was full of walkers, people heading into the market - a really busy day. I got out my phone to listen to a voice note and (this all happened within seconds but I experienced it in slow motion), a dark figure came from the side, right into my personal space and whispered so close to me, into my ear "I have a knife on you so you better give me-" and in that moment before my brain could register what happened, my body had plucked me out of that situation. My legs just jolted/lunged forward and I started fast walking and didnt look back until I turned the nearest corner. I was so shaken and I started walking whilst facing backwards to see if I were being followed (on the street where the shard is). I turned into Kings Campus because they have security, who I knew, there and I sat on campus for a bit outside to gather myself. I was shocked that had happened as I wasn't dressed up etc and had just come out of the post office. I have never had anxiety before but the next few days I struggled to walk around the high street (where the market is) and even walking to uni I would get so triggered if I saw a stranger who partially resembled this man / wearing similar nike outfit etc (which is a lot of people). It's like my body's reaction to that trauma was to keep me safe by alerting me to anyone it could be. Anyways, I really hope that you and your friend are feeling okay - we take precautions but can't stop living our lives. Like Kim Kardashian after she was robbed at gunpoint, after a year of not really leaving her house she decided she can't live like this, she can do her best to stay safe and pray no harm come to her.

With PTSD nightmares it's trapped energy of emotion of fear/ sensation of it in the body, when you'll release that energy by going through it will stop. Fear could be expressed in shaking or tears etc. It's better to do with therapist, but you can also try to write your expirience down on paper multiple times, trying to relive it with emotions and sensations, might work for some people, but it's definately scary to do on your own.

I'm so sorry that happened to you, it sounds traumatising and your reaction is completely understandable. Whenever I can't sleep or I'm having a lot of anxiety I do some cognitive therapy, I find writing it all down really helps me get it out of my head. It's still there, but I've processed the thoughts and kind of "put it to rest" a bit by writing it all down. I learned this in therapy.
Google "cognitive therapy abc model" if you want to try it out. It's basically writing down under all these points: A= activating event. Something happens to you or in the environment around you. B = Beliefs. You have belief or interpretation regarding the activating event (thought about the event basically). C = Consequences. Your belief has consequences that include feeling and behaviours. (Feelings, body symptoms/reactions etc) and finally D = Disputations of belief. Challenge your beliefs to create new consequences.
Sending you love, Amelia. Thank God you were ok. xx

I think you did absolutely the right thing to share your experiences with us. It's important to make people aware that this is a thing. Especially the tourists who think London is what it used to be 20 years ago and who easily get distracted by the buzzing and polished zone 1 experience. But even there crime rates are skyrocketing so one really needs to take precautions. As much as I love London, I'm happy to be out of it as I was very aware of the dangers and consider myself very lucky that never anything really serious happened. But I attribute it to me being extremely careful. Basically it felt like living in a war zone - and I lived and worked in areas considered safe. For me all Chanel etc. bags are useless in London as that's exactly what these thugs are looking out for, basically easily recognisable status symbols. But even without you can be a target. I always wore my bags cross body in London for safety, before I hated it and now I have grown to like it. So that's one good thing I have taken from this. But basically I now enjoy life without constant fear of knife crime, machetes, guns etc. This, I find is a big luxury because I feel at the moment it's unattainable for London. I hope it can get better but I'm afraid it needs to come to some kind of breaking point before things start building up again. And I say this with sadness because I love this city.

So sorry to hear about that incident. Appreciate your strength and courage of sharing this.
Seems like you might be having some trauma to work on and I wish you all the luck
I have been attacked myself last December and can tell you that eventually sleep will be better and we as women are so strong to come out of anything. therapy definitely helps.
Big virtual hug and stay strong, Amelia

Amelia, I've read recently two books the has changed the way I go outside now. One is called Spotting Danger Before It Spots You by Gary Quesenberry & The Gift Of Fear by Gavin De Becker. Being situational aware of your surrounds. The Gift Of Fear comes in audible, but not Spotting danger. Or you may find similar books like these. It a different world out there and we need to be aware the best we can of whats going on around us.

Wondering if you might feel better if you go to some martial arts classes or self defense classes or something?? Just to expell some built up tension but also to feel better equipped to defend yourself? Hope you manage to get some proper sleep soon 💕

Amelia I’m so sorry to hear about that! When I was 14, my aunt mom sis cousin and I were in a car hijacking by a local gang who threatened us with knives and guns. We were so lucky no one was hurt, they stole all the gold jewellery on my mom and aunt. But I know that fear, it paralyzes you. In the moment, I really thought I was going to lose someone I love or someone was going to get hurt really badly. I remember crying, but not making a sound bc I didn’t want to anger them. It was horrifying. I highly recommend getting therapy, it really does help. I’m 28 now, and I have able to stop that event from traumatizing me like it did when it first happened. Now when I look back on it, it feels like a bad dream. But it does take a while to get there. Sending you sooo much love xxxxx

I’m sorry this happened to you. I live in America and honestly as a woman this is my worst fear of being robbed or something else. I almost never wear jewelry or anything designer of carry anything of value on me when I’m in public

Oh Amelia, my heart goes out to you and your friend. I’m so sorry this happened to you both (I’m 3 months behind with UA-cam so I’m only just catching up now!) I’m just so relieved that no harm came to you physically, although I understand the emotional and mental part of it will take some time to get over. Glad you’re seeking therapy for it.

I am so sorry that happened Amelia! Having been through something similar I can assure you the feeling of being in high alert does fade away, however you may always feel weary at that street or when you see delivery guys approach you in the street. I agree that it's a blessing that no one got phisically hurt, but they did hurt you, and it's okay to feel bad.
I was taking a bus home (maybe for 3 blocks) when a guy stood up and yelled the driver to keep driving and told everyone to give him their phones and wallets, I tried to play dumb looking for my phone in my bag and the guy pulled a gun in front of me so of course i gave him my bag. I have never felt that kind of fear before and I got home shaking and crying. I take that bus almost every day to get home and I am always hyper vigilant of who gets into the bus and is I see someone suspicious I get closer to the door to get out if need be.

I’m so sorry to hear this happened to you, and I think the way you feel is totally normal after an experience like that! A couple years ago my car and purse were stolen and the person kept trying to get into my apartment late at night (we had changed our locks but our landlord wouldn’t change the building lock...thank goodness for neighbours who stay up late as they would scare them off!). Certainly doesn’t even compare to what you experienced, but even that experience made me so paranoid and on edge for a couple years, and it’ll get triggered again every once in a while. Really feel for you and at least for me I know talking about it did help so I hope that sharing here is helpful for you. Therapy truly is the thing that helped the most, so I’m so glad you have that lined up. This is long and rambly, but just wanted to share that I think the way you’re feeling after this is so so normal and it sounds like you’re really doing your best to take care of yourself with the actions you’re taking so kudos to you on that front!

Omg that’s so awful. I hope you and and your friend are okay. I’ve been through a very similar experience in my first job when I was 16. It was just myself and a colleague closing up late one night. I’m 39 now so it was a very long time ago, but remember it so clearly it was very scary at the time especially when someone is holding a knife to you. The main thing is like you said as long as nobody got hurt as there is absolutely nothing worth losing/ risking your life for. I hope you are feeling better now. On a lighter note I LOVE the look of the new ‘Luck Is Yours’ Raemi collection. I own about 90 per cent of the first collection (all gold tone version but couldn’t resist Pari in silver too) and just last week someone commented at work on my Bashi ring. PS Duke is too cute. 😊

Iam so sorry Amelia with what you have been through . These low lives go around taking from others and have no thought or consideration for long term effects of an attack and what they take mentally ! I do believe in Karma , they will get their comeuppance . Just stay the lovely person you are and dont let them win , sending hugs xxx ps little dogs like Duke are made to be spoiled !! xxx

So beyond sorry to hear about what happened to you and your friend Amelia! I can't even imagine how scary that was. Praying for you to get through this, you will I'm sure xxx Grateful that no-one got hurt thankfully, however do not invalidate the emotions you are feeling Amelia. I can only speak for myself of course: You have made the last year especially so much brighter and your content has been a ray of sunshine in ways I wish you knew! We are here for you too and will always listen to you whenever you need! Most especially this week during a bit of rough path, your collection 'Luck is Yours' and your inspiring reel really spoke to me, and when I shared it on my insta story others felt the same too! You are amazing Amelia, you will get through this and we will be here for you! Beyond excited for the new Raemi launch, congratulations! Keep shining!

I think that you did exactly the right thing by sharing what's happened to you. It is our civic duty to rise awareness to potentially harmful situations, moreover so if one has got a social platform. Wishing you all the best, with lots of love Catxx
