Guys, hands down, you have to play Hegemony. It just blew me away. Playing as the capitalist and charge way too much for food was a little too satisfaying 😅

I have 196 games and 26 I've not yet played.
Kinda madness.
I've got a 4' x 2' metal shop shelf 5 shelves. I polished the galvanized steel and it's deep enough to put 95% of my games in, library book style, on each side of the shelves.
I don't have enough years left on Earth to get serious use out of them. all.

@@BoardGameHangover good for the most part. My collection was starting to move into hording, so I'm grateful for the space. It will give me space for upcoming crowdfunding games and new games to come. It is sad that I didn't play the Pandemic Legacy trilogy, but after the pandemic, none of my friends really had any interest in diving into that journey. I wrote my purge list two weeks ahead of actually doing it. It allowed me to get comfortable with the effort. I know that sounds weird, but your comments in the video resonated with me. I'm glad other folks can get the games to the table.

I have a very clingy and soft spot for games I own (Board Games or Video Games). I hold on to them usually due to sentimental values, sentimental by mean my engagement with the game and to myself when playing them. This is a hard watch but was really funny 😂.
I totally get that, some of the games I have kept are exactly for those reasons.
See that is a life choice and the choice is also BOARD GAMES. The family that plays together stays together.

@@BoardGameHangover It is one of my favorite comic series of all time! Although, I haven't had a chance to read anything after #54 back in 2018. Just stopped getting comics all together and haven't taken the time to find the newest issues.
This was probably the best and most entertaining board game purge video I've seen yet. Similar to you, I am also limited to a shelf, so basically forced to operate on a "one-in, one-out" system!

This was hilarious and painful at the same time! 😂 you did such a better job than me, last time trying to make some space 🙈 and hence the reason, I’ve never sent a shelfie 🤣 it’s still a huge mess & I put some even away in boxes in the attic thinking „if I don’t miss them during a year, I need to let go of them for good“ - I’m always trying to find a loophole 😉 congratulations on your decluttering journey and keep up your awesome channel 🥳

Your wife will probably hate me for saying this now, but I actually do think that it is a bit unfair to keep your family games, her favourite ones AND your comics in „your“ shelf 🫣 but guess that‘s the „loophole hunter“ in me 😂 I’m truly happy to hear that she was happy and wish both of your families only the best and lots of fun playing together ☺️
What a bittersweet but liberating feeling to purge your collection. Sad to see Nemesis (I think) not making the cut. It was one of your must haves! I just got a copy and looking forward to play it.

Glad to see you kept "Here I Stand" and "Virgin Queen". I'm dying to play both. Will likely never play either. The bane of most board gamers is lack of persons with whom to play the games we want to play. If we all lived near each other, things would be much easier.

Btw a simple equation: time available divided by number of games in collection equal how much dedication you can give to your favourite games. After realizing that, I went from 120+ games to 33. I never looked back.

Just my Imperial Assault, Armada, X-Wing and Edge of the Empire wouldn't fit on that shelf (which is why they're not on my shelves, but in totes or closets). And they're just four of my more than a hundred games.

I think if the rule is all boardgames are only on that shelf, you should be allowed to move your comics/books off to a diffrent shelf to have those inportant few inches. also any games that now seeing the extra room you pulled back?
