One bedroom radiator was freezing cold, no air in the radiator so followed the next step to check the TRV pin and it worked a treat! Radiator lovely and hot again and no more freezing cold bedroom. You are so generous to share these tips with those of us who have no plumbing skills whatsoever and you explain things so clearly. Thank you!

hi, just wanted to say a big thanks for this video. I have had four cold radiators for the last two years, one of which is in my bedroom, so bloody freezing in winter! Several plumbers told me that I needed a full flush-through of the whole system etc, quoting me £250 plus, to do the job. Never had that kind of spare cash. Happened to look at this video, and although I'm certainly no plumber, I tried it. fixed all four rads within twenty minutes and cost me nothing. Can't thank you enough! :-)

One of my radiators won't turn back on after turning if off. Discovered that the pin was stuck down. I didn't have pliers or any tool that can easily wiggle the pin. I made a little modification. I put a drop of lubricant over the pin, waited it to soak for a few minutes. Using one of the claws of a hammer, I tried to push the pin inwards in all directions, mimicking wiggling movement, and voila!... the pin popped out and I felt the pipe heat up in seconds! Brilliant! Thanks for the advice!

I had the same problem. Try stuck in closed position. Discovered that trv pressure plate Wass stuck in closed position so after ensuring that the pin moved freely I drilled a hole in the pressure plate to allow the pin to go through it. Problem solved

Turned out that the pin was stuck down. Used a bit of WD40 and the pin freed itself. Now the pin moves up and down freely and my radiator is working well 🙌🏻 no need to go out and buy a new one 😁

Mate, just installed a boiler by a company. My attic heater was not working. The plumber said it was the existing pipework fault and needed new pipework costing £450 without VAT. After watching your video I removed the thermostat and seen the pin was stuck in. I lifted with pliers and just like magic the pipes were red hot. You just saved me 450 quid. Thanks a lot.

Amazing advice! I actually tried bleeding the heater first before seeing video but it was full with water? So decided to you tube the problem. Hi jimmy good video, i would just like to mention a point where i have come across the same issue sometimes it is usually because it will be the last radiator on the system especially if there are a lot of them in the household, and for some reason i have come to a few houses where all the lock shield valves are all fully open so the pressure is not balanced and therefore there will be not enough pressure to the return on the last radiator. so i usually just go and turn down the lock shield valves and balance all the radiators on the system and that cures the problem.

It's yet another time where tradesman's video helped me fix my problem (boiler being the first, washing machine being second). The pin was stuck and didn't want to even wiggle, but I washed some blue powder off with damp cloth, left it slightly wet for a couple of mins and then it started to wiggle just fine. Dried it with another cloth, put valve on and it heats fine.

One other thing that worked for me if any of the other hints in the video still don’t get it working. Go round all your working rads and turn down them all to zero on the TRV. And run the boiler it may clear any small air lock you have. You may also have to top up the pressure on the boiler after.
