+kornfreak78 I'd have to say he's the best musician that ever lived. I wouldn't give that compliment out lightly either, as a big fan of classical composers and even earlier rock/metal. Devin gets what music is meant to be unlike so many so-called artists nowadays.

Devin Townsend is truly everything I love about music , he's hilarious, but also he's just a musical phenomenon his vocal range puts every other artist to shame
The original version of this is such an epic and progressive statement of coping with loss of his friend at the time.
This version is that same statement, but with the knowledge and articulation of being sensitive to the intention of the memories of his friend.
In otherwords, Devin's musical sentiments age with him, like a fine wine, or even a fine black coffee

As much as I love KINGDOM, it's a shame how much it has overshadowed the rest of Dev's EMG videos. This video is a prime example. FUNERAL is one of my favorite songs and the way Dev stripped it down to an acoustic version takes it to a whole different level. Stay healthy, Dev. We need you more now than ever.

Love these acoustic versions of some of his songs - like 'Hyperdrive' he did on the live 'Retinal Circus' DVD/CD. Can't say this is better or worse - just a different version that provides another perspective of the song. 'Ocean Machine' is definitely one of my favorite rock albums of all time. It's up there with the very best ever.
Can there be a full concert of Devin Townsend performing at EMGTV? An Acoustic only version, would be ok too. Too see Kingdom and Juular with the rest of the band would be fanfuckingtastic. I'd buy that DVD.

He did an acoustic show a few years back in a small pub called The Talking Heads in Southampton (UK) where he had people shouting out songs he should play which included all sorts of random shit.
He owned the place and had anyone who wanted to meet him on stage afterwards.
He's a right fucking treat.
