  • Some smooth pickin’ in a rehearsal recording of YerbAzul playing “The Black Mountain Rag,” with guitarist Jorge Rodríguez being inspired by one of his heroes, Doc Watson. With Don Dworkin slapping bass, Ricky Araiza marauding on mandolin and Pepe Fuster plucking the banjo. The tune was claimed by fiddler Leslie Keith (of the Stanley Brothers), who said he wrote it in the early 40's after taking "a little bit of" Alabama’s Stripling Brothers recording 'The Lost Child', and "a little of the Carter Family's tunes." He originally named it "Black Mountain Blues" after a mountain in Cumberland County, Tennessee.
