Good historical rendition of Grandfather Home for Children. I got to meet Anna Bryant and what a delightful and caring person she was! Dr. Evans and myself spent almost a whole night listening to her stories . . .

My dad was one of the first boys in the orphanage. His sisters went in the orphanage first. His mother had passed away shortly after he was born, and his father left the children in the care of an uncle as he was an church organ builder and repairman. The uncle placed the 3 kids in the orphanage and didn't tell the dad where they were. His dad rode all over the area looking for the kids. He finally met his dad when he was 19. We would go and visit almost every summer. I loved hearing all the stories he told about his young life.

I was a child here many years ago. It was hell.

My great great grandfather was Hattie (Geneva and Clarence) Bond’s father. All 3 are on a 1920 census in the home with he and my great great grandmother (his second wife) and their children.
I cannot fathom why those kids were left at the home and I don’t know how Hattie was there from 1915-1925 if she was with her father in 1920. 🤔

I was at this place in 1983 and 84. It honestly helped me. My house parent was Annabelle. I was actually there when Mr Swincola (not sure if its spelled right) was there.
