I find it interesting that the whole song is built upon the first verse of the original Megalovania, and never progresses; it just keeps looping with different alterations here and there. This speaks volumes about how Dust!Sans feels trapped and tormented through the continuous resets and Genocide runs, and how he can never move on - never accepting your purgatory as a way of life, but begrudgingly having to endure through it... Unless he kills you.
Bit of a stretch, but it makes sense. I also like how the backing track is the one to evolve and change, where in most megalovania remixes it kinda just stays the same few versions. The change in what instruments play the lead can also build intensity without even changing the leads pacing what so ever. Its so backwards to what im used to hearing that i love it.

Only this time, instead of being greeted by Flowey and Toriel, there is only a thin layer of dust coating the ground. You hear the sounds of Flowey crying, in Asriel's voice. Just like each time you cut him to dust. He hears you, hears you fall. The sounds of crying disappear, instead a small shriek reaches your ears and the sound of tunneling is heard. You decide to press on. The ruins is also coated with dust, more and more the further you proceed. No Froggits or Whimsuns are seen or heard. This must be their dust. It coats the ground, giving you a feeling of satisfaction. However, this feeling is mixed with something new. A sense of fear. As you press on through the ruins, you hear sounds. Or so you think. The dust is so thick beneath your feet that it crunches as you step. A wild, dead smile comes onto your face. Chara laughs maniacally. *Where Toriel's home normally is, there is nothing but ash. Black, charred pieces of furniture and wood scatter in the area you knew so well. The black is intermittent with the white dust of monsters fallen long before you arrived. Something shiny glints in the mysterious light now being cast over the place. You pick it up, it is the Toy Knife. You throw your stick behind you. As you step over the ruins of Toriel's home, a terrifying melody begins to play. As you turn around, Sans appears for only a moment, his hood over his head and a purple light in his eyes rather than blue. As you blink, the figure disappears and the music ebbs away. You continue on, walking through the hole blasted in the ruins where the door used to be. The camera in the bushes is half melted, as is the snow around the door. You and Chara have become silent. Something is not right. What happened to the Underground? You were supposed to be the one to destroy it. Who got here before you? *The Snowdin forest is barely standing. Every tree that used to be lush with pine needles are now almost burnt-looking. As if they've withered up and died. Continuing your trek, you notice that the gateway that Papyrus made is fixed. Using the knife, you kick out as many bars as you need to leave. Walking through it, you hear the sound of footsteps behind you. Every time you look back, however, nobody is there. Something is truly wrong here. You reach the place where the conveniently shaped lamp is meant to be. There's pieces of ceramic everywhere, and the lampshade has been placed upon a dummy with Papyrus' face drawn on the front of the shade, as if someone had tried to recreate the skeleton. The dummy has a huge tear in the back. You notice something solid in the snow. It's pure white. You turn it around, and jump back in suprise. It is Papyrus' lifeless skull. It seems like someone killed him, but couldn't bring themselves to crush his head. You scoff at the idea. They were weak. Chara smiles again, the black fluid dripping from her eyes. Just then, someone speaks behind you. *Hello, human. *Don't you know how to greet a new pal? *You turn around, knowing who it is, more relieved to see him than you would ever like to admit to yourself. *He is not the same. *Both eyes glow red, one has a purple aura around it. *His hood is up. *Suddenly, Gaster Blasters appear all around you and fire. *This is not the place you know. He wasnt thinking straight, dust sans has gone through the geno timeline more than once. According to lore he does in fact try to evacuate but nobody believes him because "what could a child do, its *just* a child" even his own brother disregards his warning EVERY timeline. Eventually he snaps and kills papyrus during an argument about whether or not to capture your soul , realizing that taking the exp from you before you can level up and kill everyone was a smarter way to stop the resets. Although short sided it works and theoretically with his newfound determination he could reset before he killed anyone and the only one who would be affected would be frisk (just like flowey is the only one who isnt reset since he also has determination. He cant reset because frisk/charas dt outweighs his, this may also be the case for frisk with sans being more determined to stop him. But thats just my 2cents

lots of people think murdertale / dusttale is sad, epic, or overwhelming but i find it quite frightening. imagine the entire underground having to evacuate, alarms blaring, monsters terrified, screaming, all because one guy who’s usually lazy, easy-going and chill has gone psycho and decided to murder everyone, including his friends and own brother. horrifying.
That's literally what made people had an interest in this AU. A fightening and bloody-handed lore story of a guy who used to be funny and chill drastically changed onto a complete merciless monster is something "unusual"

Ink! Sans yeah it’s friggin annoying. I know. I was at primary school, and literally everyone didn’t know wth was even Undertale, or, like, simple games. But when I moved into high school, people know Undertale! And some boys even play Megalovania on the piano, glockenspiel, etc. randomly! I’m just amazed.

Instead of a madness and scary vibe, I get a depressive sort of feeling. Sans killed everyone, even his own kinfolk which was Papyrus. He had to kill them, forgetting his actual meaning and killing everyone he knows to defeat Chara. He probably didn’t want it, no one would’ve if only Frisk didn’t reset and try the genocide route, Chara taking over, and killing everyone many times. I feel extremely sad and worried about this sans for some reason, causin the megalovania for me to sound depressive and sad. What’s your reason if you feel a depressive feeling for this megalovania?
Megalovania in general is supposed to symbolize a (losing) battle between an unstoppable force (chara) and the immovable object (sans) the final clash of the hero (either one depending on your opinion) and the villain thats been waiting for this the whole game. In the end "the villain" is supposed to lose , but in retrospect either one can be viewed as a villain ( a lost child lashing out on creatures that threaten their lives and literally want their soul or a murderous human with a genocidal intent) (a lazy skeleton just trying to fufill a promise to a friend or a kniving monster, lurking and waiting for the moment the human is weak enough to kill but when that moment doesnt come he attempts to do it himself) amd hero. The song really grasps that concept of back and forth , not only that during the battle (SPOILERS) sans actively asks you to stop fighting so he can rest and eventually he does so on his turn so you cant attack (spoilers , you do anyway lol)
I cannot explain how much Nostalgia this brings me, quarantine was amazing. It wasn’t the time that I found out about Undertale but the time I had so much time to myself and I got into Undertale and it’s AUs heavily and Essentially having a whole Undertale phase (which I enjoyed don’t get me wrong). There was nothing like getting off from Online school and then playing some Roblox Undertale games, that was the life, specifically Undertale Last Corridor, Test Place, and Undertale Judgement Day. The whole reason I started getting into AU stuff was legit because I found Undertale Last Corridor in like mid 2020, then slowly it slowly started getting me hooked to rhe product, and going beyond just Roblox Undertale games, There were some other games too, but I forgot about those. But those were the way to go. Also AU Content like Glitchtale was a banger back then, I was always rooting for Betty lmao I remember when I finally got my hands on Undertale in Xbox Game Pass back in mid 2021 and ran a True pacifist route, I legit shed some tears because that is some strong stuff, the ost, the characters, the fact that you could have killed everyone but you didn’t, and the credits. Even though I knew how everything played out, I felt like I was in the moment, for the Omega Flowey fight, I struggled alot with Asgore and The Asriel fight and his ost. Phenomenal game, thank you Toby. Oh man Dusttale, my absolute favorite AU, from when I found out about it back in 2020, how Sans turned into a murderer, got LV. Wears his hood with different eyes, all of it sucked me in and got me hooked to the AU and the Character. Don’t even get me started on the fangame too, absolute cinema, it’s so well made. Don’t forget about the art used for this video too, it’s amazing, I love the detail, Sans’ jacket, his eyes, the bones in the background, phenomenal. The murder has been one of my favorite AU themes, but I didn’t recognize just how phenomenal this theme really is until a few months ago when listening to it fully for the first time in a while. The dark vibe from the song, that piano in the back, that soft beat in the back at 0:42, 1:27 and 1:41, the slow and low beat at 1:52, the way it starts back up at 2:01, the 2:11 and 2:25 part. The soft piano at 2:34…its insane how underrated this megalo is, I’m glad this was the definitive theme for Dust back in the day before everything else because this theme deserves it. Definitely gives Dusttale justice. I miss those times, from going to the Supermarket with my Dad and Grandma then coming home to play some ULC in 2020 or UJD in 2021, listening to and discovering Undertale and AU themes, roleplaying in discord Undertale servers, (yes, something I also used to do) watching Undertale Gacha content (yes im guilty of this, that shit used to hit, especially the reaction to animations like that Christmas party AU thing and AU fights like Last Breath, Disbelief Papyrus and Glitchtale), Staying up extremely late on my phone watching said content, I had to always charge my phone fully beforehand because I had a LG Stylo Plus 4 that was passed down to me back in 2019, and the battery life was completely ass so you had to make the most of it and wouldn’t charge unless you had it in a specific place. All around, amazing year, amazing time to be alive. 2020-2021, never forget. So much time has passed, so quickly too, 2021 was just yesterday and now it’s 3 years ago, time files man.

But there must be good things too, right?.. I honestly really like Dusttale too. For its cruel and fair history. I read the original. And I didn’t like any other Au..Came to the conclusion that Murder is actually a hero. After all, he did not want to kill, he did not receive joy. He just wanted happiness for his friends. The dust is so thick beneath your feet that it crunches as you step. A wild, dead smile comes onto your face. Chara laughs maniacally.
*Where Toriel's home normally is, there is nothing but ash. Black, charred pieces of furniture and wood scatter in the area you knew so well. The black is intermittent with the white dust of monsters fallen long before you arrived. Something shiny glints in the mysterious light now being cast over the place. You pick it up, it is the Toy Knife. You throw your stick behind you. As you step over the ruins of Toriel's home, a terrifying melody begins to play. As you turn around, Sans appears for only a moment, his hood over his head and a purple light in his eyes rather than blue. As you blink, the figure disappears and the music ebbs away. You continue on, walking through the hole blasted in the ruins where the door used to be. The camera in the bushes is half melted, as is the snow around the door. You and Chara have become silent. Something is not right. What happened to the Underground? You were supposed to be the one to destroy it. Who got here before you?
*The Snowdin forest is barely standing. Every tree that used to be lush with pine needles are now almost burnt-looking. As if they've withered up and died. Continuing your trek, you notice that the gateway that Papyrus made is fixed. Using the knife, you kick out as many bars as you need to leave. Walking through it, you hear the sound of footsteps behind you. Every time you look back, however, nobody is there. Something is truly wrong here. You reach the place where the conveniently shaped lamp is meant to be. There's pieces of ceramic everywhere, and the lampshade has been placed upon a dummy with Papyrus' face drawn on the front of the shade, as if someone had tried to recreate the skeleton. The dummy has a huge tear in the back. You notice something solid in the snow. It's pure white. You turn it around, and jump back in suprise. It is Papyrus' lifeless skull. It seems like someone killed him, but couldn't bring themselves to crush his head. You scoff at the idea. They were weak. Chara smiles again, the black fluid dripping from her eyes. Just then, someone speaks behind you.
*Hello, human.
*Don't you know how to greet a new pal?
*You turn around, knowing who it is, more relieved to see him than you would ever like to admit to yourself.

Like I mean when you meet him after the 99th genocide route, let's say when you meet him he kills you instantly
He wasnt thinking straight, dust sans has gone through the geno timeline more than once. According to lore he does in fact try to evacuate but nobody believes him because "what could a child do, its *just* a child" even his own brother disregards his warning EVERY timeline. Eventually he snaps and kills papyrus during an argument about whether or not to capture your soul , realizing that taking the exp from you before you can level up and kill everyone was a smarter way to stop the resets. Although short sided it works and theoretically with his newfound determination he could reset before he killed anyone and the only one who would be affected would be frisk (just like flowey is the only one who isnt reset since he also has determination. He cant reset because frisk/charas dt outweighs his, this may also be the case for frisk with sans being more determined to stop him. But thats just my 2cents

lots of people think murdertale / dusttale is sad, epic, or overwhelming but i find it quite frightening. imagine the entire underground having to evacuate, alarms blaring, monsters terrified, screaming, all because one guy who’s usually lazy, easy-going and chill has gone psycho and decided to murder everyone, including his friends and own brother. horrifying.
That's literally what made people had an interest in this AU. A fightening and bloody-handed lore story of a guy who used to be funny and chill drastically changed onto a complete merciless monster is something "unusual"

I was at primary school, and literally everyone didn’t know wth was even Undertale, or, like, simple games.
But when I moved into high school, people know Undertale! And some boys even play Megalovania on the piano, glockenspiel, etc. randomly! I’m just amazed.

Instead of a madness and scary vibe, I get a depressive sort of feeling. Sans killed everyone, even his own kinfolk which was Papyrus. He had to kill them, forgetting his actual meaning and killing everyone he knows to defeat Chara. He probably didn’t want it, no one would’ve if only Frisk didn’t reset and try the genocide route, Chara taking over, and killing everyone many times. I feel extremely sad and worried about this sans for some reason, causin the megalovania for me to sound depressive and sad. What’s your reason if you feel a depressive feeling for this megalovania?
I know, especially after he killed his Papyrus, he descended into madness. He is now haunted by Papyrus's ghost.

Megalovania in general is supposed to symbolize a (losing) battle between an unstoppable force (chara) and the immovable object (sans) the final clash of the hero (either one depending on your opinion) and the villain thats been waiting for this the whole game. In the end "the villain" is supposed to lose , but in retrospect either one can be viewed as a villain ( a lost child lashing out on creatures that threaten their lives and literally want their soul or a murderous human with a genocidal intent) (a lazy skeleton just trying to fufill a promise to a friend or a kniving monster, lurking and waiting for the moment the human is weak enough to kill but when that moment doesnt come he attempts to do it himself) amd hero. The song really grasps that concept of back and forth , not only that during the battle (SPOILERS) sans actively asks you to stop fighting so he can rest and eventually he does so on his turn so you cant attack (spoilers , you do anyway lol)

I cannot explain how much Nostalgia this brings me, quarantine was amazing. It wasn’t the time that I found out about Undertale but the time I had so much time to myself and I got into Undertale and it’s AUs heavily and Essentially having a whole Undertale phase (which I enjoyed don’t get me wrong). There was nothing like getting off from Online school and then playing some Roblox Undertale games, that was the life, specifically Undertale Last Corridor, Test Place, and Undertale Judgement Day. The whole reason I started getting into AU stuff was legit because I found Undertale Last Corridor in like mid 2020, then slowly it slowly started getting me hooked to rhe product, and going beyond just Roblox Undertale games, There were some other games too, but I forgot about those. But those were the way to go. Also AU Content like Glitchtale was a banger back then, I was always rooting for Betty lmao
I remember when I finally got my hands on Undertale in Xbox Game Pass back in mid 2021 and ran a True pacifist route, I legit shed some tears because that is some strong stuff, the ost, the characters, the fact that you could have killed everyone but you didn’t, and the credits. Even though I knew how everything played out, I felt like I was in the moment, for the Omega Flowey fight, I struggled alot with Asgore and The Asriel fight and his ost. Phenomenal game, thank you Toby.
Oh man Dusttale, my absolute favorite AU, from when I found out about it back in 2020, how Sans turned into a murderer, got LV. Wears his hood with different eyes, all of it sucked me in and got me hooked to the AU and the Character. Don’t even get me started on the fangame too, absolute cinema, it’s so well made. Don’t forget about the art used for this video too, it’s amazing, I love the detail, Sans’ jacket, his eyes, the bones in the background, phenomenal.
The murder has been one of my favorite AU themes, but I didn’t recognize just how phenomenal this theme really is until a few months ago when listening to it fully for the first time in a while. The dark vibe from the song, that piano in the back, that soft beat in the back at 0:42, 1:27 and 1:41, the slow and low beat at 1:52, the way it starts back up at 2:01, the 2:11 and 2:25 part. The soft piano at 2:34…its insane how underrated this megalo is, I’m glad this was the definitive theme for Dust back in the day before everything else because this theme deserves it. Definitely gives Dusttale justice.
I miss those times, from going to the Supermarket with my Dad and Grandma then coming home to play some ULC in 2020 or UJD in 2021, listening to and discovering Undertale and AU themes, roleplaying in discord Undertale servers, (yes, something I also used to do) watching Undertale Gacha content (yes im guilty of this, that shit used to hit, especially the reaction to animations like that Christmas party AU thing and AU fights like Last Breath, Disbelief Papyrus and Glitchtale), Staying up extremely late on my phone watching said content, I had to always charge my phone fully beforehand because I had a LG Stylo Plus 4 that was passed down to me back in 2019, and the battery life was completely ass so you had to make the most of it and wouldn’t charge unless you had it in a specific place.
All around, amazing year, amazing time to be alive. 2020-2021, never forget. So much time has passed, so quickly too, 2021 was just yesterday and now it’s 3 years ago, time files man.

I honestly really like Dusttale too. For its cruel and fair history. I read the original. And I didn’t like any other Au..Came to the conclusion that Murder is actually a hero. After all, he did not want to kill, he did not receive joy. He just wanted happiness for his friends. And he did it :D
