UNAKKAGA NAAN 1976 Indian Tamil family story film Produced by K Balaji and Directed by
C. V. Rajendran. Starring Sivaji Ganesan and Gemini Ganesan in the lead, it is a remake of the 1973 Bollywood film Namak Haraam that starred Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan, which itself was inspired by the 1964 Paramount Pictures production Becket.

NTSG & KMGG are at their best. VKR & Manorama are good at comedy scenes. Laxmi & Nirmala have done well . Overall film is entertaining. 8.4.2024

This flim was remake of Hindi Namakharam.in that movie Shivaji role was played by amitabh,a villan role and gemini role was played by Rajesh khanna,Super star of that time.During Tamil remake villan role was modified as per Shivaji image,but the director was not made change in the Gemini ganesan role which had lot of scope of acting and emotion,particularly his acting during the death of Nagesh.Gemini character was appreciated by people s and media.Many Sivaji fans cannot digested this thing and the flim was failed in box office

Good movie, just one-off the many noticeable flaw, Mr Sivaji Ganesh and Mr Sunderrajans make-up artists caused a flop, second half of film they forgot to use the grey contact lens : )

This is a dismal remake of the classical Hindi movie "Namak Haram" where the combination of Amitabh Bacchan and Rajesh Khanna produced magic on screen with their brilliant portrayal imparting subtle and nuanced acting. If you watched the original, the remake will be intolerable wherein they have contaminated the story with unnecessary fight and rape scenes. Shivaji was a pain in the neck and overacted in this film as usual, and Gemini didn't impress in the role. Even Major Sundararrajan didn't live upto expectations playing father of Shivaji, even though he is younger than him. Nodoubt this film bombed big time at box office.
