    I greatly appreciate the content on fake coins. Crown was 5 shillings, or a quarter pound, where one gold sovereign was one pound and the gold half sovereign was half pound or 10 shillings. Crown minted with 11:34 Sterling 0.925 silver. Silver pure content is 5/6 of troy ounce. A sovereign contains 0.2354 troy ounce of pure gold in the 22 carat or 0.912 fine coin. From this we can derive a gold silver ratio of 16:1, which compares with 80:1 in the current bullion market. Cheers from one of your lost colonies, Australia. These were also our circulating currency until first Australian pattern silver issues in 1910. Australia only issued 1937 and 1938 crowns in .925 Stirling silver, generally derided as cartwheels. English went to 50% silver after 1920 due to the costs of WW1, Australian issues maintained .925 through to 1945, then .500 (due to costs of WW2) through to last pre decimal issue 1964 and decimal from 1966, with only the round 50cent piece 80% silver, one year type. Australia issued gold sovereigns 1855 -1930 and halves 1855- 1918 to same 22 carat standard as Britain, with Shield and StGeorge reverses and the unique Sydney Mint Pattern circulating types 1855-1870. There were reports that 40% of sovereigns in circulation in London at 1900 were from Australian mints, S Sydney, M- Melbourne and from 1899 P-Perth.

    Definitely can tell lots of differences on the reverse. Though not a huge fan of slabbed coins. I would expect a highly detailed 100+ yr coin to be slabbed. (Then contact the rating company b4 bidding.)

      I don't mind on slabbed coins. I do like coins to be free and grading anyway is a very expensive opinion. i hope your well though my friend? Always a honour to hear from you EAC. i like people to enjoy a hobby I love to.

    The most obvious difference beside the color and the edge inscription was in decorations around the rim on both sides. On many fakes the rims, the 'teeth" and other details that accompany them on both sides, are much more pronounced and solid-looking, while on the real coins they are very delicate.

    • @CollectingWorldUK
      @CollectingWorldUK  10 місяців тому

      To be honest the colour don't actually matter depends on what the coins life has been. Great playing spot the difference, Not sure what you really mean by solid looking? Have a awesome weekend.

    I have an 1861 Victoria coin, and I would like to know what it is, I can't seem to see another like it, so here is the description.
    22mm diameter with milled edge, brassy bronze in color, and well worn. The young queen is left facing, with the characters, H.M.G.M. QUEEN on the left, and VICTORIA on the right side.
    On the opposite side of the coin is George and the Dragon above which, TO.HANOVER and below the date 1861.
    I'm not a collector, although I have a few English coins, and would appreciate any enlightenment on what I've described here.

    Just spit on some tinfoil and rub the coin if it smells of egg it's silver. Then no damage done and no acid need to be used. Incase you didn't know. 👍🙂

      @CollectingWorldUK  2 роки тому +1

      I did not know that to be honest with you. Okay being silver or not but I'm more interested in the coin itself. If the coin is silver then I would just melt the fake one down. But yeah I like to make the videos to show the different in the coin and to look out for. Thank you for the tip really appreciate you. Please enjoy your weekend my friend.

    Did all the real coins have a lettered edge?

    • @CollectingWorldUK
      @CollectingWorldUK  2 роки тому

      Some are milled and some do have different engraving lettering on the edge. depends on the years and the effigy of the coins. It's worth checking before hand though just incase.

    Bro i think you are totally wrong. The left coin must the genuine one and in the right the fake one. How can real coin be deleted and blurry. Thats why i say the right one is fake due to the metal mold can not be detailed as a genuine one. That's why is blurry and not detailed

    • @CollectingWorldUK
      @CollectingWorldUK  7 місяців тому +1

      Really when I have the actual coins here with me and research I have been collecting for over 40 years. And the update I have had the coins checked out myself by a BNTA registered coin store. There is thing things called condition what do you think anything would look like in 1899 until today? The real genuine coin the silver coin is correct. This is a very old video please do some research, I'm not being rude but you can't come up with a sentence and quote I think your wrong! When I have the facts here with me. You obviously can't see what I'm seeing through a lens of a camera the weight is totally off as well. Hope your having a great week appreciate the comment also. It's very hard to express over a text message nice to have a conversation about this, which I have already done in other live streams over the years. keep well and thank you again
