Mae West married Count Guido Deiro, a Vaudeville headliner, after meeting him during a performance at Detroit's National Theater in 1913. They divorced in 1920. The story of their torrid romance, marriage and intertwined personal and professional careers can be read in the illustrated bio-novel "Mae West and the Count - Love and Loss on the Vaudeville Stage."
Hola Amigo, El acordeón es un Guerinni. Fue hecho en 1925 en San Francisco, California para mi padre especialmente. Soy siempre feliz de oír de otro jugador. Mis saludos, Guido Deiro, Jr.
I love Guido's playing in these videos - such great technique and dynamics. I find the switches between syncopation and waltz particularly fun, gets me every time!
It's cool watching Guido in action, and knowing I have a connection to him. Guido taught his younger brother Pietro the accordion; Pietro taught Carmen Carrozza; Carmen Carrozza taught me.
Really fine playing, and we're so lucky that the technology was there to capture this. What I'd like to know is where that beautiful accordion is today. Thank you, Robert, for helping to make these videos possible.
This Guerinni accordion is lost to time. Another slightly later made instrument, and the last to be played on the Vaudeville stage by my father, I have given to the 'World's Greatest Accordionist", Cory Pesaturo.
@@airmuseum I know Cory very well....he has been out to play for my club a few times. Another good friend is Henry Dotorski who did a great job of playing and recording all of Guido's compositions.. Have the recording myself plus the charts to play from. Guido was an amazing guy...he was the highest paid artist in Vaudeville as I recall and was hugely popular. Sadly he lost everything in the stock market crash and never came back as vaudeville died.
I know all 3 of them...including Dick Contino(Family Friend), & yes Tom Deiro!!! I do not play the Accordian, just love listening to it being played!!!

What a wonderful performer with great technique. Thanks so much for making these available!
The Deiro brothers (Guido and Pietro) were born in Salto Canavese, near Ivrea, Torino Province, in northern Italy. You can find Guido Deiro on the web
