- The Biden administration has put pressure on US port employers to secure a labour deal with some 45,000 workers, who walked off the job at seaports across the country. The International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) launched a strike just after midnight on Tuesday, after negotiations with the US Maritime Alliance for a new six-year contract collapsed. The ongoing protest is the first in nearly 50 years. It has choked half the country's ocean shipping across more than 30 ports from Maine to Texas. Sally Patterson reports from Washington DC.

I agree with op. These strikers are out of line.
These strikers and their so called leader are all a joke. They could have put a stay on this strike to HELP people who are suffering enormously in this country right now. The ‘boss’ isn’t crying from his almost a million dollar salary view either. People have lost everything, complete towns, separated from their families, no food, no water. These strikers were offered almost what they asked for and they said no. Show me one of them who doesn’t use anything automated (gas station, bank, grocery store, online shopping) and that person has a leg to stand on. They could have shown how to come together for the greater good and not allow goods to rot. Instead they chose to blindly follow a man leading them to their downfall.
Plot twist: The gov got someone to do the promote the strike even though they are working a dangerous job that makes more than the average working person to make the America people suffer and to start their depopulation plan -Theory

How many offices have personal secretaries anymore? Way less than in the 70's or 80's. They should be working on developing another skill to manage the automation so they can keep their jobs or transition to a new one. Writing is on the wall. Get the unions out of here.

The unions and overly high minimum wage laws for less skilled or less demanding jobs are the REASONS why (also expensive) machinery is upcoming. The union people I have known have not been very considerate of other people at all, often not very hardworking or considerate of their employers' equipment or assets and have had VERY good wages and VERY good benefits.

It's amazing to read comments from American citizens criticizing workers who are fighting for better working terms and conditions. The union is battling against big corporations making billions of dollars. These same corporations are the ones refusing to increase minimum wages and are opting to implement AI rather than pay their workers a decent wage.
