As a retired New Orleans style clarinettist myself, I despair of Don Yarber's comment about the " horrible sounding clarinet " Just listen to Michael Magro's version with Loose Marbles about a year later I think, of the George Lewis masterpiece "Burgundy Street Blues". He doesn't attempt to copy George, as so many British clarinettists tried to do back in the 1950s,but has developed his own unique NEW ORLEANS sound, which is clearly based on Albert Burbank's distinctive style. Albert at times sounded rather "twittery", but on a good session was as good as George Lewis- google "Albert Burbank with Wooden Joe Nicholas on UA-cam" to hear Albert at his very, inspired, best. Michael Magro has this same unique sound- do not underestimate his playing ! Thank you, Michael, for understanding the real New Orleans way to play your instrument !
Berton and Kessel's 'Sobbin' Blues' from 1923. Amusing to hear Ben shout 'Verse' at 3 minutes 47 seconds to make sure they all went back to the Verse in this trickily-structured piece.

Harley motorcycle notwithstanding, this band plays on!!
This must be one of the last times Shaye and Todd (tuba) played together with what was left of the Marbles before they left to form Tuba Skinny.

great, a refreshing air... of old dixie
Shaye is solid!
Tom Bell, I agree with you, horrible sounding clarinet.
The guy on the clarinet {or whatever it is) spoils it for me
sounds like fingernails on a blackboard..............
