I have a feeling I know where you're coming from with this. There's been a big uproar with BTS Army, and people using mom as part of how they would extremely feminize Jin beyond what anyone would be comfortable with, to the point he said to not call him that anymore. But the big difference is that a lot of Korean and other non western/english speaking fans don't seem to understand in at least America and a lot of English speaking countries, we have the concept of the Mom Friend. It's not a term that means the person is female, or is feminizing, but its the term used for how in every friend group more than a few people one will end up stepping up as a voice or reason, the one trying to keep everyone alive, usually has emergency supplies and emergency snacks, helps from an emotional level, ect. They become the mom friend. There are also dad friends, the ones with massive dad energy, but they're not as common in most groups as having a mom friend. So when Western fans call a member mom, it's usually in terms of being the group/team mom, the mom friend. And it's honestly a compliment, it's praising them for having these good qualities and being known for supporting the others. It's not disrespectful at all, or feminizing, or saying he's anything less than a man.
(I'm having such a moment right now, between Seonghwa (one of my ATEEZ bias), Jin (my BTS bias along with Jimin), and my ultimate anime fave/ only one I call a husbando, Makoto Tachibana (the anime mom friend of all mom friends), my asexual ass apparently has some kind of type.)
