Hey you! So I used to be a director of a winteguard and I can answer A LOT of questions you might have about Winter guard and DCI. I watched a few videos so here's a few answers to a few questions that you may not haven't answered yet. 1. When it comes to baton spinning Japan/ Aimachi is primarily the only group in WGI that spins baton, and even though it is amazing they aren't even judged on it. The judges judge only the movement they do under it so it's counted as dance basically. 2. They do play instruments inside! It's called WGI Winds. Winter guard is focused only on guard. And then you gave Winter Drumline. That's a whole nother ball game where it's only the percussion indoors and it sounds like the drums are singing. InoV8 is an excellent example for drumline and so is Matrix World. 3. If you truly want to be impressed, look up Onyx 2014 (they have the 5th highest score in WGI history (around 70 years. I also marched with them in 2012) my name is Lia, you know for the shout out :D 4. The rifles weigh from 2 1/2 for the little kids just starting out to about 7 lbs when it comes to 42 in King rifles(there are ton of different brands, King is the heaviest) but the majority are between 4-5 lbs. 5.
