I thought I saw this one before but the one I was thinking had some Explorers, XPT's and Endeavours came through. Sharing with my Dutch train driver to show him the variety of suburban and Intercity trains.
I'm not too sure. I think it's because the power supply in that sector doesn't support the newer trains too well. About 10 years ago though, some M sets were running the T4 line but were removed do to said issue.
rileyef yea Tanagra's were moved to Mortdale Secter And Kept at the Hornsby secter for many reasons after Tanagra's retired full time service on the airport line some of the t sets as you know from T20 to T43 were Airport Line Sets But there were Flemington Target Plates for airport sets but T20 and below and T43 -T52 had the same as Mortdale Target Plates Funnyly enough this maybe difficult to understand but if u have any questions or want me to continue the story u can reply to me
rileyef The power issue was indeed one factor, but according to Howard Collins, another likely reason why all suburban T4 line services are run by Tangara sets is because Sector 1 is more isolated from the rest of the network, and due to that, it was easier to run just one type of fleet down there. After S sets were withdrawn from Sector 1 in 2013, a couple of months before CityRail’s rebrand to Sydney Trains. To compensate, the Tangara fleet operating on Sector 2 was withdrawn and dispatched to Sector 1 to cover for the withdrawn S sets. That’s why Tangaras only run Sector 1 and 3 these days.
adam murdock yes only k sets went to Newcastle and sometimes Kiama but that was in the 1980's but until 2000's k sets sometimes ran Between Thirroul And Port Kembla

Random question, is there any particular reason that T sets are most commonly used on the T4 line?
