I kinda blamed the Devils' new play by play guy Bill Spaulding for his death since New Jersey was so hot that they exposed Levi and eliminated Buffalo from contention.
This is a man that is so beloved by every Sabres fan and his favor stretches to even rival teams. Rick, if you every sit down and read these comments, I hope you see just how many love you and your announcing! I truly hope that we make it all the way this season so that we can all hear you call that Cup winning goal, because it just wouldn't be right without your voice! We
Rick is, always has been and always will be the life of the party. Hope the Sabres can finally win the cup while he's still broadcasting. Nobody deserves it more.
The thing about Rick is that he always seemed to have fun. He wasn't all about that deep radio announcer voice but he didn't need it. He had his "Top shelf where momma hides the cookies!" and that's what makes it so good. Rick is having fun on commentary. and we are having fun listening to him do so.
+S.P. Osh as "lalalalalalalalalafontaine" was famous like "mayday", then he said "stuuuuuuuuuuuu" and "roll the highlight film". plus the famous "top shelf while momma hides the cookies!".
It will be a very sad day when RJ retires from calling Sabres games. The past few years he only calls home games as he does not want to travel anymore. The man is getting old and has a family so you can hardly blame him. We love him so much here. *He is loved as much as any player who put on a Sabre jersey*. How many play by play guys can say that? We have been so spoiled in western NY getting to hear Rick call all the games. During playoffs my father, brother, and I listen to the big time network announcers and are always astounded at how much they suck in comparison. When the Sabres are in the playoffs we turn down the TV and listen to Rick on the radio. What a legend, not only of Buffalo but of hockey itself.
Jeanneret has to be my favourite pbp commentator in sports. No other team in any other league has a commentator as passionate as he is, and he makes the games, especially with a team as lacking as the Sabres, great to watch every night
I'm a hockey fan from Finland and also a ex-player. This is the best commentator I've ever heard. He's a big homer to the Sabres and no way objective but that's exactly what makes him so hilarious. When Rob Ray got his face broken by Tony Twist, Jeannerette was trying to make all kinds of excuses for Ray how he couldn't get this "fight system" going, etc. Funny guy and he must be a genuine Sabres fan. :)
I like how they had two goalies named Snow and shields because they play on ice which is frozen snow and shields is a perfect name for a goalie because that’s what they are a human shield.
The excitement in his voice is gone he barely even goes on road trips anymore breaks my heart so much we couldn't win one for him I know he's still alive and well thank God but who knows how much long it will take for this team to reach that goal we are such a fucking mess of an organization
Even though I grew up a Blues fan. I could listen to RJ all night long! Would love to hear him say “ The Buffalo Sabers have won The Stanley Cup” !The city of Buffalo deserves a Championship parade.
I will always defend Connolly. He was a great player. Silky yet he scored some important goals too. The concussions did him in. People used to pick on him. It's like the dude has had a ton of head injuries. Idk it always eerked me the wrong way.
I love how at 19:49 they are all fighting over the puck then a few seconds later a Sabres guy finds it and puts it in with ease and boom they score. Lol 😆 Go Sabres.
God how I miss the aud!!! I know it sounds strange but I have dreams about it! so when the announced it would be demolished I had to see her one more time I was able to sneak in with a guy I met outside wanting to do the same so we were able to find a way in which we did we didn't vandalize or steal we just wanted one last vist we were even to take the chance of getting arrested we would just tell the police we had to say goodbye and if he was a true buffalonian he would understand..hopefully so on the way out one of those giant sound absorbers that swayed from the rafters for so many years were laying in one of the seats in the lower golds i did have to take so I would always have a piece of her...sue me. greetings from the best city in the world Buffalo ny
Rest in peace to a legend I will show my kids one day. I’ll never forget him. 💙💛🐐
can't believe he's gone.... we were not worthy RJ, when the sabres finally lift the cup to the heavens, it'll be for you 💙💙💛💛
I kinda blamed the Devils' new play by play guy Bill Spaulding for his death since New Jersey was so hot that they exposed Levi and eliminated Buffalo from contention.
I could cry. My god.
RIP. what an absolute legend and a great man.
This is a man that is so beloved by every Sabres fan and his favor stretches to even rival teams. RJ's voice always gets the adrenaline going.
So sad it's Rick's last season and we never won him anything....we'll miss you RJ. Won't be the same without you.
Pat Foley's lucky, though. April 29th might be the last time we hear BOTH voices.
best sports announcer of all time!
Happy RJ day to everyone who grew up on this. The greatest Sabre of all time
Fan since 1970, this video brings back so many memories, OMG!
This man is an absolute legend. You physically can’t hate this guy he’s too cool 😎
Rick Jeanneret IS hockey!
Nobody dislikes this guy! he is the most amazing announcer i've ever heard!
Rick is, always has been and always will be the life of the party. Hope the Sabres can finally win the cup while he's still broadcasting. Nobody deserves it more.
Games are just not the same without Rick's calls!!
No, it is not.
I am a Capitals fan, but good god do I enjoy RJs commentary. I just wish they make the cup during his life.
I just had goosebumps for a half hour
The thing about Rick is that he always seemed to have fun. He wasn't all about that deep radio announcer voice but he didn't need it. He had his "Top shelf where momma hides the cookies!" and that's what makes it so good. Rick is having fun on commentary. and we are having fun listening to him do so.
my dad would put on 550 am to listen to him instead of the tv announcers
+S.P. Osh as "lalalalalalalalalafontaine" was famous like "mayday", then he said "stuuuuuuuuuuuu" and "roll the highlight film". plus the famous "top shelf while momma hides the cookies!".
Same man, RJ best announcer in the game.. Legendary
I always turned on 550..
Hands down
best of all time
no if ands or buts
I'm not crying, you're crying
Twenty-nine minutes and thirty-six seconds of smiles. This is phenomenal. Thanks for posting!
RJ makes me like the Sabres. . Rip to legend
I even wanted the Sabres in so he could come back for one last Bruins ass kicking. He'd scream Mayday again.
Roby doesn't know where RJ gets his energy...from PURE JOY and EXCITEMENT that's where Roby, that's where! :)
It will be a very sad day when RJ retires from calling Sabres games. The past few years he only calls home games as he does not want to travel anymore. heck yeah bro! used to do the radio thing (walkman lol ) @ the games also ! great comment, totally agree!
Kris Ross I think it would be even sadder if he died.
Jeanneret has to be my favourite pbp commentator in sports. No other team in any other league has a commentator as passionate as he is, and he makes the games, especially with a team as lacking as the Sabres, great to watch every night
We don't trust you bruins fans
Mike Lange (Pittsburgh Penguins) is another great play by play caller.
believe me Rick we LOVE the suspenders!!!!
Loved the buzzcut too. Loved Jim too. But I miss Harry as well.
I'm a hockey fan from Finland and also a ex-player. This is the best commentator I've ever heard. He's a big homer to the Sabres and no way objective but that's exactly what makes him so hilarious. he deserves a damn cup..
I listen to this while tying flies, every few weeks. Love it. The good ole days!
Warrener took his SHHHOOT and shattered the glass in behind the net...I LOVE THAT! 😆
I like how they had two goalies named Snow and shields because they play on ice which is frozen snow and shields is a perfect name for a goalie because that’s what they are a human shield.
RJ is top shelf!
Kinda teared up. R.i.p. tim Russert at the end
God Bless RJ! Love him!
rick will always be buffalo hockey !!!! more engey then a truck full of red bull love u rick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man, if anything, Buffalo needs to win a cup for Rick. There will never be a better announcer in sports history, let alone even Hockey history.
The excitement in his voice is gone he barely even goes on road trips anymore breaks my heart so much we couldn't win one for him I know he's still alive and well thank God but who knows how much long it will take for this team to reach that goal we are such a fucking mess of an organization
Rick reminds me of Joe, 'cause their teams haven't won. Rick was never won while Joe's last cup was 1967.
Glad to see he is still doing play by play.
No one will ever be able to fill his shoes in Buffalo.
Especially if it was Joe Bowen(Leafs)
RIP rick
MAY DAY MAY DAY MAY DAY MAY DAY MAY DAY
The GOAT!!!!!!!!
Even though I grew up a Blues fan. I could listen to RJ all night long! Would love to hear him say “ The Buffalo Sabers have won The Stanley Cup” !The city of Buffalo deserves a Championship parade.
A little highlight film before I catch my z's AWESOME STUFF! 😆
Rip greatest commentator of all time
Everytime I watch my Senators play the Sabres on Gamecenter, I always watch the Buffalo feed for RJ
Can we win one cup for RJ?
Long live Rick
Ricky love ya mon ami... stay strong :)
I Cannot imagine Buffalo NY being tolerable without this man!
I want him announcing NHL 15 :'(
+DjOver9000 yesss he has to be in nhl17!!!
Rick.... We love you... I think we all miss Jim. I do at least... They made a great team...
I miss Harry more. I didn't like when he worked with Joe.
I will always defend Connolly. He was a great player. Silky yet he scored some important goals too. The concussions did him in. People used to pick on him. It's like the dude has had a ton of head injuries. Idk it always eerked me the wrong way.
Chills
Not a Buffalo fan but I listen to Buffalo games when there playing the Caps and Washington just to hear him or if Buffalo has a game when they don't.
Rest in Peace RJ.
That Campbell commentary is unreal
I love how at 19:49 they are all fighting over the puck then a few seconds later a Sabres guy finds it and puts it in with ease and boom they score. Lol 😆 Go Sabres.

Buffalo needs to win a cup before RJ retires
I think that Ray Bourque spent that next 90 minutes looking for the jock strap that May deked him out of
AMEN bro!
When rj goes wont be the same
He and PF are gone after April 29th.
RJ has something to be excited about again with Teddy Nolan back behind the bench and LaLaLaLaLaFontaine in in charge of hockey operations!
Nolan is gone again :P
And were the first team in NHL history to finish 31st... yay....
Even Morgan Freeman likes RJ.
