When we're watching the forest scene, we can even see that Snow never kills Lucy. What we do see is her running away! You can tell that Lucy's plan all along was to systematically hollow out every tree in Panem and stand inside the one closest to Snow at all times. The breeze is just a mechanism she's using to travel between them so that he catches a brief glimpse of her face as she's whooshing around. Then, once all of the trees are finally dead, everyone in the Capital will suffocate...obviously.
Yess and even in the movie when he lowered the bundle of guns into the lake it's like it's a body instead. It may not be Lucy Gray's body but the insinuation is hard to miss

I don’t think she loved him anymore by that point, I feel the moment he said he killed three people she lost her love and trust. When she was going to leave the house, Coryo was basically showing his true colors. She liked Sejanus and wanted to help those people, they all died. (I wonder why :D)She mostly was suspecting him before that and slowly losing her feelings, especially if she survived and heard all those gunshots- She probably didn’t trust him, there’s still a small chance she did. First of all, the snake could’ve slithered under the thingy. (Her not intending to hurt Snow but of course he went crazy-) But that’s kind’ve it. The reasons why she didn’t trust him is one, she went out right after he picked up the guns after saying she wasn’t going to gather food, two, she was running, and three, she could’ve planted the snake under there once knowing Coryo would most definitely go after her. Also, Coryo let it slip he killed Sejanus, Lucy isn’t dumb and it’s obvious in the books, she *was* suspecting Coryo.
Also there is a song in the book called "Oh My Darling Clementine". It's a song about a girl who drowned because her lover didn't come to help her. Man in the song because he didn't come to help her she will haunt him forever. I don't think Suzanne Collins put this song for no reason. I think this is what happened to Lucy Grey as well. He shot her probably because of the paronia(snake that bite him wasn't posionous he threw up in the books because of paranoia) he was hallocinating. He couldn't see she was lying right there next last footprint. He walked away she probably got went next lake and she lost her concious because of blood fell to the lake and drowned. Also in the books it reveals that Lucy’s cousin can hear a song once and be able to memorize it, which would make sense that’s she would have a child and pass the songs down to her son which is katniss’s father. The age gaps between how old her cousin would be, her father and hers makes a lot of sense. But your theory is also very good!
I also read the theory that the cousin is related to katniss, but I think it has to be from her father's side. In the books Katniss says that his father taught her the songs and that he also taught her how to find swamp potatoes that have her name. Besides in the second book she says that she knows how to swim even if she is not supposed to because her father taught her in the lake outside the fence of district 12. Those seems like the activities that the covey usually do so probably one of them taught katniss father as well.

We see later in the Hunger Games the government just kill the people you love to keep you in line. I think they did that to Snow. The entire 12 excursion was Gaul's plan. She's the gamemaker. She had Lucy gray killed and framed so Snow would lose his last respect for the districts and come back in line. The film sets up her casual disregard for human life with Clemensia who got 'the flu'. If you read between the lines you can tell she had Felix Ravenstill murdered to counter Reaper's defiance. Snow tells Sejanus that Gaul will make him just another body in her war. That is what Gaul made Lucy Gray She also blew up the Arena and blamed it on Rebels BTW. As we see later on, the Rebels are in no position to be setting up that type of bomb. They can't even break someone out of prison

I’ve wondered if she was hiding in bushes and growth on the forest floor. After he went all psycho, Snow didn’t really put in time to look for her. I think she crawled out after he left and the Covey might’ve found her. Maybe they healed her in the cabin and helped her escape or maybe she died but I think the Covey knows what happened either way
She wasn’t there. She was in her mother’s dress which we hadn’t seen in forever. It was a hallucination and she was long gone before then when she said she was going to get those roots

She probably didn’t trust him, there’s still a small chance she did. First of all, the snake could’ve slithered under the thingy. (Her not intending to hurt Snow but of course he went crazy-) But that’s kind’ve it. The reasons why she didn’t trust him is one, she went out right after he picked up the guns after saying she wasn’t going to gather food, two, she was running, and three, she could’ve planted the snake under there once knowing Coryo would most definitely go after her. Also, Coryo let it slip he killed Sejanus, Lucy isn’t dumb and it’s obvious in the books, she *was* suspecting Coryo.

Also there is a song in the book called "Oh My Darling Clementine". It's a song about a girl who drowned because her lover didn't come to help her. Man in the song because he didn't come to help her she will haunt him forever. I don't think Suzanne Collins put this song for no reason. I think this is what happened to Lucy Grey as well. He shot her probably because of the paronia(snake that bite him wasn't posionous he threw up in the books because of paranoia) he was hallocinating. He couldn't see she was lying right there next last footprint. He walked away she probably got went next lake and she lost her concious because of blood fell to the lake and drowned. Just like Clementine. Also 1st in the series Katniss sings Hanging Tree next to lake. Lucy's spirit gets up from the lake and becomes one with the rebellion. Also the last person which is Lucy who knew what happened to Billy and Mayfair is in the lake with the murder weapons all of it ties up really well. Maybe Coveys found Lucy's body but never told anyone because they didn't want anyone to disturb her burried her body in the woods that's why district people never knew what happened to her but deep down inside knowdge of her death was there.

I haven't heard this interpretation before and honestly, it is really good. I would love for her to have survived, but that is honestly a really really cool theory.
My theory was that she was pregnant at the time, got injured but healed and had a child who had katness. She told stories and sang songs to her kids and grand kids but they never knew snow.

Honestly, I think she’s still alive. He shot her but I think he might have shot her in her arm or something because when he came to where he shot her, she was gone.

He more likely hit a few trees or bushes. We have no idea if she was even in the area. In both the book and the movie. He is calling out to her and hearing the jabberjays. He never sees her.
I have a theory that I don't think anyone has said but it makes sense to me. So one of the covey had either katniss's Mum or dad and that's why she knows Lucy Gray's songs because one of the covey taught to one of her parents who then taught it to her. Who agrees or has a better theory??
A theory is that Lucy’s cousin who was in the covey is katniss’s grandmother. It makes a lot of sense due to the huge year gap between Lucy’s hunger games and katniss’s. Also in the books it reveals that Lucy’s cousin can hear a song once and be able to memorize it, which would make sense that’s she would have a child and pass the songs down to her son which is katniss’s father. The age gaps between how old her cousin would be, her father and hers makes a lot of sense. But your theory is also very good!

I also read the theory that the cousin is related to katniss, but I think it has to be from her father's side. In the books Katniss says that his father taught her the songs and that he also taught her how to find swamp potatoes that have her name. Besides in the second book she says that she knows how to swim even if she is not supposed to because her father taught her in the lake outside the fence of district 12. Those seems like the activities that the covey usually do so probably one of them taught katniss father as well.
Never found a body, so I'm guessing he never shot her and just hallucinated.

@@KODAA- um so I did some research and found out that if you look closely at the part when she was singing that, behind Cori is Lucy’s cousin, she played the guitar with her too, when I researched to find how they are connected I found out that the blonde girl ( Lucy’s cousin )is Katnis’ grandmother. So she probably sang it to Katniss mother or her. I also wondered that too though. (Which also means that Lucy is Katnisess grand-cousin.

I love the theory that she was pregnant by then, survived, found District 13 and Coin is their daughter. It just makes so much sense. Personally I think Gaul ordered it. We see later in the Hunger Games the government just kill the people you love to keep you in line. I think they did that to Snow. The entire 12 excursion was Gaul's plan. She's the gamemaker. Lucy and Snow were too close to the edge of the Arena. She needed to do something to pull him back. She had Lucy gray killed and framed so Snow would lose his last respect for the districts and come back in line. The film sets up her casual disregard for human life with Clemensia who got 'the flu'. If you read between the lines you can tell she had Felix Ravenstill murdered to counter Reaper's defiance. Snow tells Sejanus that Gaul will make him just another body in her war. That is what Gaul made Lucy Gray
She also blew up the Arena and blamed it on Rebels BTW. As we see later on, the Rebels are in no position to be setting up that type of bomb. They can't even break someone out of prison

I think Lucy Gray was his mother, If Lucy gray managed to escape she could have had a child, it’s EXTREMELY possible she would have taught him about the events that occurred in the hunger games and would have thought about Coriolanus snow through the hanging tree, he was killed in a mine explosion 💥 which could mean when he started working in the mines he moved to district 12. But why does Katniss’ mother hate the song to the point she banned it? I have a feeling she was one of the descendants of someone in the capitol that knew what happened in the hunger games, they probably mentioned to her what happened in the hunger games making her keep quiet for years as the thought of it hurt. Actually it said also that in the 50th hunger games that Haymitch Abernathy was trained by 1st and up to that point only Victor from d12 had trained the 4 people from d12 and died soon after the 50th hunger games
It's briefly touched upon in the book's epilogue in a letter from one of Coriolanus's old bunkmates that the people in District 12 assume Lucy was offed by the mayor. We don't know for sure if she's actually still alive or not.

I like to think that Lucy grey is katniss’s grandma and snow basically was destroyed by his own granddaughter. Although thats just for me cause when i read the books years ago, i didnt like way we dont know whag happened to lucy. i like this better. Fire was born from Snow and melted him sort of thing.

If all memory of the 10th Hunger Games was erased, then is it possible the deceased victor Haymitch referred to is a completely different person? I doubt Snow would let her name live on. Plus like others have said, he probably tells himself he killed her to feel like a winner.
She is supposed to be a mystery. But honestly, I don't think he killed her, no one knows, not even him. I mean, they were still very close to district 12. If he shot, at least her family would have find her, they knew the place near to the lake, it was their place. Why would they be silent about it? Their cousin was shot. Sure, they could believe that the mayor killed her but still we would know. I think it is more likely that she died later in the forest or that she made it to 13th and died there.

I’ve wondered if she was hiding in bushes and growth on the forest floor. After he went all psycho, Snow didn’t really put in time to look for her. I think she crawled out after he left and the Covey might’ve found her. Maybe they healed her in the cabin and helped her escape or maybe she died but I think the Covey knows what happened either way

She wasn’t there. She was in her mother’s dress which we hadn’t seen in forever. It was a hallucination and she was long gone before then when she said she was going to get those roots
The reason she may not be alive anymore is because it’s 65 years later and she was already 16 years old That would put her at 81 and keep in mind the conditions in district 12 don’t really leave people to live long
