- In this video I unbox and, review and demo the new Paul Reed Smith PRS SE NF3. I was really excited to get my hands on this guitar and check out the way it played and also how these pickups would sound. Every new PRS SE I test is always a pleasant surprise, they seem to catch me off guard with subtle nuances and characteristics I was not expecting. The SE NF3 is no exception. Those pickups can talk and squawk! I like it when a pickup won't "tub" out or "choke" or "pierce" etc. Awesome demo!

Thank you for the video. When you first pulled it out of the box my mind went straight to $1200 but awesome price point. Pleasantly surprised. The heavy distortion on the neck pickup gave me some SRV vibes. Really nice guitar. I've been looking for a PRS, this could be the one. Great jamming too by the way. Keep up the good work.
I really dig these pickups. Only have heard demo clips, but like you said it gives what I like about single coils without the bad. I love the pearl white, but the orange gets my attention too. Nice demo…thanks!👍

I have the Pearl White with Maple. It has quickly become my number 1. The pickups are fantastic. I play a lot of high gain 80s style stuff and this baby kills it in my opinion. Cleans are great too. Now, my opinion is based on the fact that I have or have had SO many expensive guitars, including PRS core models, but mainly playing Charvel, Fender, ESP, & Schecter. needless to say, Ill be selling many..LOL. Already ordered one of these in the Orange Metallic as well.

Bought one and gig with it right away. Since I’m not a strat guy this guitar sits very well between a humbucker guitar and a single coil guitar. What I didn’t liked is when you roll back the volume you lose some treble. Maybe a treble bleed will solve the issue. Overall is a great guitar 🤟🏼
Thanks Marty. That's a really nice one. I always thought id get a PRS when i got older and had a little foldin money to spare but haven’t found the money or the PRS.😢
That guitar has a really unique sound not single coil and not hot rail and really not humbucker kinda straty though nice demo Marty 🤘👽
Thanks for the vid. I've had mine for a coupe weeks. I really like it! It records well and more like p90's IMO. I set mine up with 9.5 - 44 gauge strings and SE locking tuners. Fantastic guitar and still under 1k. I also picked up the DGT SE and feel the same about it. These SE guitars are well made and excellent for the price. Also, justifyably worth knocking around/keeping around. I have no reservations about handing these to anyone in my studio.

I’m not a PRS fan, but that’s a pretty good sounding guitar. Very cool demo. I laughed out loud at the beginning of the demo. 😂
That guitar is beautiful for sure. Very siver sky like.
But i think its all about those pickups. They're definitely distinctive, from anyother pickups in that range and price point. Nice clarity, and versatile for blues rock, funk etc.

It doesn't like me of the silver sky. It's a bit meatier with these pups.

Marty, the tones you were able to get out of the guitar were fantastic. It sounds somewhere between a Strat and a Gibson. So, for someone who wants to sound different than other musicians, this is definitely a good choice. Such is great price for quality.
From jeremy: guitar sounds great man! Ive been intrigued by prs for a while, never held one or played one. Ive heard some other channels saying the fret work is terrible and this and that and how disappointed they were being it was a prs guitar. How was the fret work on yours? Sharp ends or anything? Thanks man! Nah.. this one is perfect. But the humidity is good and it's summer so who knows what drier weather will bring. It's a beautiful guitar ... they sent me a ringer for sure.

Very happy with the Gunmetal Grey one I ordered with a rosewood fretboard. The tuning stability is excellent and it's just so easy to play. Getting the pickup heights dialed was critical to the in between positions sounding optimal. Depends alot on how your amp responds to the pickups. Some people complain they sound dark? What are they expecting? Glassy single coil cleans? That's not what these pickups were created for. I'm dig'n the whole package and have no regrets. I even got one of them bitch'n new cases prs just came out with. Really sharp looking stuff.

I fully agree with you on adjusting the height of the pickups. It made a big difference in the overall sound. I set the heights while plugged into a Fender Bassman (tube version). I wonder what it will sound like through my Blues Junior. That’s today’s adventure! I know I could use my EQ pedal, but I wanted to minimize the need for it. It sounds tremendous and is fun to play!
Marty do you know any Lynyrd Skynyrd and could you play us some or teach us a song from Lynyrd Skynyrd? That would be cool dude.😎
This guitar reminds me of Iron Maiden. I know they play mostly Strats but if they played PRS guitars, I imagine those would be something like this one.

I've soldered to scamatic separator to stereo boom box right and left and checked twice before just before melting a smell and pull away one at a time after checking twice. The process was time consuming and happy with final effects of own circuit personal checks and referencing back to scamatic for final check then soldering final functioning of proper wire gauge

Great demo Marty. I want to love a Strat but I find I just can't. This NF3 sounds great. The volume control position on a Strat always annoys me and the middle pickup seems in the way for me.. This model looks like the vol. control is moved down at least. I don't mind the 25 inch scale. I really want to check it out. Thanks for posting, you looked like you had a blast playing it.

Am I the only person that doesn’t like PRS? Something about them that irks me! I haven’t figured it out! Maybe the bird inlays. I have played a few they don’t excite me
