Game Room Solutions has recently added some actual CSR's so most of the time you will get an email from a friendly representative instead of always dealing with Ryan or Tina. I personally have never had a bad experience with either of the owners; the thread conversation with Ryan over my cabinet purchase was around 50 messages and he answered me every time. But the problem with these two is they tend to give short answers with little detail and only seem to answer one question at a time so if you ask three questions in a single email they'll give you one half a sentence answer which causes you to email them two more times. Small blemishes on the edges of the melamine are common on non art pieces but in their defense melamine is super easy to chip and having pieces stacked in a shop and moved around will inevitably cause small chips. Take a sharpie and you won't see them without close inspection. It doesn't help that Fedex manhandles these heavy boxes. Overall, GRS has average QC with free shipping and better prices than anyone. Recroommasters is out of businesss so this is one of the final options.

I had a bad experience with them with my bar top. I purchased the control kit, and the buttons they gave me look like crap. There was a scratch on one of the panels. The T-Molding was a totally different color. Then they didn't deliver the cam screws. After replacing the panel and sending the hard ware. After putting the cabinet together the slots for the marquee on the right side were totally off. The clip to close the control panel was hitting the front wood of the 4 buttons. When I asked about the buttons she said in 14 years she hasn't gotten a complaint I'm like whatever. SO they gave me a label to return the buttons. Then the marquee came up, I was told to it's the way the assembly was done. I'm thinking slots that are cut in the wood do not move. You don't have any give when you lock the cams. So, later on i tried using the starched panel and that worked better. I sent an email of my experience and she kept saying that I'm bullying their workers blah blah blah. Then i told them you guys can't get anything right, i asked for black t-molding and you gave me chrome. I even sent an email from Tyler that says it and me confirming that's what i wanted. She goes you got what you ordered. Only thing that they have going is that they provide cabinets that they can print the artwork. but if they mess up it's downhill. I've seen a couple of videos where people had to modify the cabinet just to make it work right. I had to move the ciip for the control panel just to have it close better.

Yeah, they don't make it fun when the problem is on their end. They make it your problem. Terrible business model.

Researching getting a GRS cab or a Ultimate Legends, this video is one of the few I found, also on Etsy found some DIY kits about half the price that look pretty good.
BTW intro is only on left speaker, made it really hard to get thru that first part.
So in retrospect, would you buy this again or maybe go for something else?
As for your question, I have my laptop setup with LaunchBox and it's working great. RetroArch for most systems, but also has my PC games (Steam, Origin, Etc) and stand alone emulators for say XBOX 360 and all working seamless. I did not have very many issues to figure out.
I have built many RetroPie systems, and that is good for the older consoles, but wanted a full fledged PC for this build because it will handle newer systems better, and even for the older systems allows you to use the more advanced shaders or things like look ahead without performance issues. You are a shooter fan like myself, and having 1 frame of latency via look ahead is just amazing.

Yeah, my earlier videos had an audio issue that I don't have anymore.
If you know going in you MAY have issues I am overall happy with my GRS cab. They are a real company but their CS has serious issues.

BigBox always felt "choppy" to me when dealing with large sets of games, but it's been a while since I've used it. I wonder if it's gotten any better with the latest updates. Great looking cabinet by the way. Never thought about using a full size PC with 3/4 cabinets. I'll probably do the same if I ever get one

I tried doing this with a Raspberry pi and never liked it. This is the only way to go. Thanks for watching.

I really hope I can replicate your setup for my x-arcade cabinet. But it just seems like a lot of work.

I wouldn't say it's a ton of work. The only issue I had was setting up Daphne. There are plenty of youtube videos that can walk you through each step. Thanks for watching!

I don’t have any SNES games on the cabinet. I play those off of my SNES Classic.
