    The more you learn, the more you realize how little you know. That's one of my favorite quotes. It's certainly true for me, and that's why I'm an eternal student. Teaching is another type of studenthood. Thank you all for sharing.

    You're so right -- I entered menopause totally unprepared, uneducated & uncomfortable. Thank heaven someone is ready to talk about it! THANK YOU for sharing your passion with us. I don't do videos but I'll be spreading the word about your channel! ~Susanne

    Go to your gyn and you’ll see posters and pamphlets all over the place about birth control, pregnancy, and std’s. All of that is important, but it’s clear their focus is not on menopause. The drs really know very little. They are in a hurry to treat symptoms with the standard fare and quickly get back to the focus patients: pregnant women.
    I am very thankful to have watched these tutorials all the way through and am now going back over certain ones. Changed my world and made me confident in how I plan to manage my menopause! I’m using a completely different approach than I thought I would before I started these tutorials.
    I wish doctors were forced to watch these. I realize they are too busy and doing the best they can, but menopausal women get the short end of the stick.

      I'm here to do everything I can to give you what you deserve.
      Doctors really aren't teachers. Not only is teaching not their profession, but they just don't have the time in the 10 minutes you spend with them a year. That's where I can help.
      I love knowing that this education is serving your needs.

    I shared with my 23 year old daughter this morning about you and how positive I feel about being a "Menopausal woman" and that it can be the best time of your life, if your properly educated. I used to feel down about getting older and going through all the changes,but not now! Thanks for the empowering. I'm going to positively prepare my other 2 adult daughters too for menopause. 😄

    I discovered this a year ago! When I lived in Grand Rapids I went to someone who put me on hormones and I never felt better in my life...then I moved to Chicago and new doctor did not believe in hormone therapy and took me off. I went downhill fast....I then took my life back and went back to GR and put myself back.. I am back!!!

    Hi I'm from UK and the lovely Manager in my Health food store where I was buying products to help me through menopause (on a particularly bad mood swing day!) alerted me to your site. I think you are wonderful. So easy to listen to, positive and upbeat and very informative. You give us hope that there is a solution to this chaos! I am so glad I have found your tutorials and have recommended you to my friends. I'm only 3 videos in and listen to you while I eat breakfast in the morning. God bless you and have a great day.

    Hi Barbie. Just started watching, saw u with Dominique. I'm a rectal cancer survivor, who has had surgery, chemo and radiation. I am celebrating being cancer free for a year. My doctor is poo pooing any hormone therapy. I am miserable. He put me on an anti depressant. Used it once, and hated it. I'm looking forward to going through all of your videos. Thanks so much for doing them!!

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  7 років тому +2

      Oh Debra, congratulations! And I understand your frustration.
      Do you have cancers in your family? I think your gastroenterologist is reluctant because there's an entity called, "Cancer Family Syndrome." It's a situation where multiple members of a family have had various cancers, one of which is colon cancer. And others have had breast, uterine, or various other cancers. They're all due to a gene in the family.
      But then there's isolated colon cancer that has nothing to do with a family cancer syndrome and is unrelated to any other kind of cancer. And in that situation, there's no reason to avoid hormones. Why don't you have a discussion about this with your doctor. Find out why he's reluctant for you to have hormones.
      And you should know that there are a bunch of non-hormonal ways to manage your symptoms of menopause. Of course, I'll be covering all of them in the videos, but it's going to take a while for you get all that information. If you want it sooner, get my book. It's all in there. I hate knowing that you're so uncomfortable.

    Barbara Taylor M.D. you are awesome for doing this. I got pneumonia and went to the emergency room was prescribed both Amoxicilin and a Zpak to be taken concurrently or at the same time and subsequently billed $4000. Well I only make $12 an hour and it didn't get paid. So then I picked up my daughter's car speaker not realizing how much it weighed and immediatly dropped it on my foot. It smashed the smaller bones on top of my foot and broke my 5th metatarsol in 2 places, that time I was turned away from the emergency room with no medical care whatsoever not even a cast. I ordered a walking boot and a wheelchair from ebay and in 6 weeks I healed anyway. My foot is a little different but the bones are healed and I can walk again. Thus began my aversion to the medical community. I was hoping you were going to tell us what to do when medical care is unavailable and I was at first disappointed. But I have seen enough of your videos to go ahead and start from the beginning to get all the correct knowledge to work with. Thank you so much for caring about all people enough to do this.

    Thank you Dr Taylor for all the incredible amount of preparation and effort you have put into your videos. I finally feel empowered to take control of my menopause when honestly I felt like my life and body was out of control. By the way, traditional Catholics AKA Orthodox Catholics do believe in birth control, but only natural methods like the rhythm method. Canon law has taught that the introduction of artificial birth control leads to an immoral society where marriage and the family is no longer honored. It’s Canon law that says that life is sacred and anything that is against supporting life is wrong. This is why Traditional Catholics do not believe in artificial birth control, abortion, euthanasia, in vitro, using vaccines that have been tested on aborted fetuses, organ harvesting from fetuses and only the death penalty in extreme cases.

    I wished I had found you a month ago. I just had a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago. My OB/GYN had no problem encouraging it without trying anything else. Not even birth control pills. I was searching the internet and only had confusing information. I was back and forth up until 3 hours before the procedure. While at the hospital a nurse told me that bleeding heavily and an enlarged uterus was normal along with fibroids. I’m 51 and was at the end of rope with no clear answers. I think I’ve been in menopause for 8 years. Heavy bleeding and brain fog. I just began skipping periods last year but has bleeding for 5-6 weeks constantly anemic. I tried so hard to tough it out and I’m upset now that I might have been so close to what May have been getting easier. I don’t know. I hope I find some answers now even though I may have really messed my body up. Thank you and I look forward to more information.

      Well, I retired because of severe arthritis, not because I wanted to retire. But, I've turned my negatives into positives. If it weren't for my arthritis, I would not be delivering this education to you today. The way I see it, it's a win-win situation ... even though I love with my arthritis.

    Gail Sheehy had started the conversation about Menopause in the early 90's, but the 2002 cancer scare drove everybody away. When I started peri-menopause, everybody just said to forget about hormones because of the cancer risk. Now I am I hearing that the cancer risk isn't nearly as big as they thought back then, but women and doctors are still afraid.

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, fear is the most paralyzing emotion on earth. Unfortunately, fear has really made it difficult for women to get the information they need. You deserve to know ALL the benefits and ALL the risks, and then make your own decision.
      If you want me to give you the information you deserve and tailor it all to YOU, please schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME.

    I just started watching your videos. Wish I knew this 10 years ago. What can I do to find a Dr. To listen to me about how I feel and do what is necessary to make my menopause journey the best part of my life. I live in Fayetteville NC and it it so hard to find a Dr. Who will listen to you. I simply gave up and have been miserable for 10 years. The process of finding a Doctor is very time consuming and expensive. Trying to get in for an appt can take from 3 to 6 weeks. I have good insurance and live a very comfortable life.
    My husband does not understand he always says well you are not like you used to be. He jokes that I have been going thru menopause for a long time. I am at the lowest point in my life now when I should be enjoying life. I am existing not living.
    Since my hysterectomy at the age of 47 I have not been on any HRT. Every Doctor I have seen does not want to do anything. They have their biased opinions. I just quit going to them and almost gave up until I found you thru Angie Hot&Flashy. Now I have hope that things will get better.
    I am going to watch all of your videos in order. I am on number 5 now. But what can I do when I am empowered with the information you give me in finding the right Dr. In a timely manner.
    Thank you so much for doing these videos. You Absolutely ROCK!!

    I am having trouble with my menopause boobs. I have spent my working years getting up at 3 am and exercising to DVD'S since age 22. I had little tiny bloops of nothing until age 40 and I just woke up one morning and almost had a heart attack. Progesterone cream on my boobs fixed that for a number of years. I am now 58 and it no longer works and I am trying to figure out bras and my Mom passed the year I was 40. I don't understand this. I could have used these things at 25, but now they are useless and hurt my back. I am having major trouble purchasing bras to support these useless lumps on my chest. You are wonderful for all the good info. I am sure I am not the only person having trouble with this issue

    I am really enjoying your videos. Thank you. I have felt fortunate because I have made a smooth transition into menopause. I took hormones when I was young (in my 20s) and now take levothyroxine. Do you think it had any bearing on my menopause?

      @MenopauseTaylor  8 років тому +1

      No, I don't think either the hormones you took when you were young or the levothyroxine you take now had any bearing on your menopause. You're just fortunate! But if you hadn't diagnosed your thyroid problem, things would not have been as smooth. And you might have mistaken some of your thyroid symptoms as symptoms of menopause. It's good that you were on top of things.

I'll create a personalized document addressing all your concerns, and send it to you at least one day before our session. That way, you 'll have time to read it in advance. It's usually 6 - 12 pages long.
      Then, I'll have all sorts of props and models to show you during the consultation, and we'll make great headway. You'll understand everything and have all the options tailored specifically to YOU.

      If you have a consultation with me, you can send me all your labs and tests so that I can incorporate them into your session. I'm all about tailoring things TO YOU.

      thanks! I could not wait on the yeast thing and had my doctor look into it for me. His surgery days are Mondays and I didn't think I could reach him but turns out he didn't have surgery today! but I will keep you in mind for next time.

    Hi! Thank you for all you share here. Since you lived in Spain, could you meet any good medical doctor who works similar to you that you would recommend us?

      Nobody can "recommend" a doctor. You have to FIND a doctor who will help you manage YOUR menopause YOUR way. I can help you determine how to do that in a consultation. That's because it all depends on HOW you want to manage YOUR menopause.

      Try going to my website: MenopauseBarbie.ME
      (Note that it's .ME and not .com.)
      Scroll to just below my photo. You'll see four boxes. The first one is Menopause Barbie Outline Notes. You'll find them there and you can print them out. We've added a link in the descriptive section of the videos, but it was added after this video (#4).

      Chris,
      Welcome aboard to "Menopause Taylor University." You'll find that if you start at the very first video (going by the number after each title), you'll understand absolutely everything. And you'll be shocked at what you didn't know, and delighted that you now do know.
      Each video builds on the last. It's just like school: You had to learn the alphabet before you could read. And nowadays, there are so many overwhelming misconceptions that women mistake as facts ... that you just don't know what you don't know.
      I respond to all comments here on UA-cam daily. So, I will answer all your questions ... but I'll also know if you aren't watching the videos in order. (I'm like your mother. I have eyes in the back of my head!)
      And if you need me to help you tailor anything to your personal situation, you can schedule a one-on-one consultation at MenopauseTaylor.ME any time.

      @@MenopauseTaylor Thank you! I am at video nr. 9 now and I am planning to watch them all, in order, of course :) -it's a joy. I have never found anything on this subject presented more clearly, logically and at the same time so entertaining!
