Hello everyone, and welcome to a very special video today! This day is incredibly important as I take our homebred horse, Winnie, to her second 80cm event. For those of you who might not be familiar, I've been bringing Winnie along from the very beginning, and it's been an amazing journey to see her progress. We head to Ascott Under Wychwood, a beautiful and hilly course in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, for another Cotswold Cup event.
What's extra special about today is that despite it being only her second 80cm course, everything seems to fall into place perfectly. We managed to have the best performance in every phase, finishing the day on our dressage score and securing the win! This win is particularly sentimental for me as it's my first ever eventing victory on a homebred horse, making it a milestone moment in our journey together.

Ok! Just a couple of things! I'm SO in love with Winnie! Have been for ages! You can just see he special in her since she was a baby! But also Meg, you've just produced her SO beautifully! She has given you the base of good genes and athleticism but you've taught her how to use those attributes and you should be so, so proud! Firstly, I must commend the exceptional quality of your video. The dedication and hard work you’ve invested in Winnie are truly paying off; she not only looks splendid but also performs admirably. I spent the majority of the day engrossed in the Olympic cross-country events, where my beautiful goddaughter was competing. I am profoundly proud of her achievements. Much like you, she has devoted considerable effort to reach this stage. It’s worth noting that her first eventer was a grey 15hh Connemara pony, quite reminiscent of Jammy. I wanted to extend my heartfelt congratulations on your impressive accomplishment with Winnie-you are indeed a gifted horsewoman.

Winnie’s going amazingly, can’t believe this is the same little pony from January! She’s got a real “horsey” look about her now, she’s growing into herself and maturing into a fabulous little eventer! 🤗💕
I’m 13 mins through the vid and can already tell that Winnie is gonna smash showjumping and cross country!
And I love Pete's Eats! For a while there it seemed to be falling to the wayside. Love seeing it! I'm sure Pete wishes it had never started, but we love it, Pete!
Mostly silent follower! But CONGRATS Meg!!! Winnie did so great and (while still apprehensive) she was much more willing to go into the water!! She is becoming such a great little event horse!! I aspire to be like you and have my own little event horse one day!!! Much love!!!❤❤❤
Winnie is such a talented pony, even though she's still green in places and also a baby. But, right from the video of you loose jumping her I knew she was destined to be a cracking little eventing pony... Well done to you Meg and of course Winnie on a fantastic score of 26.5 double clear. And as you and Han have said before, the more new venues she experiences, the better and more understanding of her job she's becoming and the improvements are testament to this. I have loved watching your journey with Winnie so far and I can't wait for more of your journey together, her training and competitions, the works. Well done again Team Elphick!!! 😊❤

Old Horsey Girl Tip for Bum Patterns:
Smaller brush with stiffer bristles.
My personal fave trio of patterns to shape bums - chequer board 2,1,2 up high, 3 shark teeth on mid thigh and the moon on the back.
I loved the plaiting and turning out of horses on competition day.
Had to give up riding due to a spinal injury. But i would really love to prepare a horse for show day, just one more time. ❤

Meg when you ride with confidence you can see the difference in whichever horse you are riding. I LOVE to see you ride with such confidence and assurance, you can see it in the horse! ALL of them, you produce such beautiful eventers and I am in absolute LOVE with Winnie's tail! ❤

Winnie has gotten much better with her hind end on the landing from a fence. She is defiantly getting stronger! Didn't se one time with this event when she landed with both hind legs at the same time. Congrats on your dressage score and your 1st place.

Winnie has improved steadily leaps and bounds its amazing to watch her from a foal up untill now and you guys are doing amazing 26.5!!! ❤ keep it up team!
Winnie is looking more mature, traveling better and consistent. Looking more and more like Jam. I find jumps can look hard or easy depending on the horse I'm on. A simple 60cm jump can look massive or scary on a baby.

O_O I'm very much newbie in watching eventing, but it would make sense that athletic looking horses would have advantage - speed, endurance, agility, against small stockier horses. But Winnie did so well and she run like a bullet in the cross country! Congratulations to the win!

OK I am saying it, Winnie is my very favorite of your ponies!
I really want to do some low level eventing with my cob I mean Im sure it would astound everyone with me riding a piebald cob instead of a bay or grey, but she is really starting to enjoy jumping and she is only 6 I’ve had her for 2 years recently we have been competing in dressage and came 2nd out of 21 horses that are much older than me and her in one of our shows and there were horses there doing elementary and I was doing intro and prelim

Tonic water with Quinine which tastes vile imo but that is supposed to hydrate....slimline has low cals.....the internet seems to think sparkling and still hydrate the same

Congrats Meg. Great result. On the topic of water. Soda water is as hydrating as regular water apparently and.......the difference between soda and sparkling is....(from google)....Both soda water and sparkling water are made by infusing still spring water with carbon dioxide under pressure, creating the fizz. However, soda water is further infused with bicarbonate of soda to help the drink hold its bubbles when spirits are added. This means soda is slightly fizzier than sparkling.
