    VHS Hi-Fi audio has the same audio quality regardless of speed, however the slower speeds make it more prone to dropouts and buzzing noise. Before long-duration digital recording became practical, many radio stations used VHS Hi-Fi VCRs set to SLP/EP speed to record their broadcasts. That way they could fit up to 8 hours on a tape with good audio quality. Some VCRs require you to feed them a dummy video signal in order to record audio, but Panasonic VCRs do not; they will happily make an audio-only recording.

    There weren't that many American VCRs that could record in LP. I was very satisfied by how the speeds differ, I've never seen something so stable. I'm actually considering in buying one of these models, it looks like a stunning VCR!

      IF YOU'RE SERIOUS ABOUT GETTING ONE I HAVE ABOUT 15 PANNYS RIGHT NOW 14 IN THE 98-04 RANGE AND 1 IS A 92 W/ ORIGINAL MFG. REMOTE. FULLY REFURBISHED TO LAST YOU FOR MANY YEARS DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH IT'S USED AND HOW YOU TAKE CARE OF IT. NOT THAT I'M A PANNY FAN. THEY'RE OK, UNLIKE HOW MOST MFG MAKE LOWER END AND HIGHER END MODELS, THEIRS ARE BASICALLY ALL THE SAME.
      I KEEP AS MANY IN STOCK FOR MY EBAY ACCOUNTS AS POSSIBLE AS THEY SELL ALMOST INSTANTLY BECAUSE OF THE REPUTATION. BUT I TAKE THE TIME TO GO THROUGH EVERY ONE AND GET THEM AS CLOSE TO NEW AS POSSIBLE UNLESS THE HEAD IS WORN FROM HEAVY USE OR THOSE DAMN VHS TAPE " HEAD CLEANERS" THEN IT GETS CANNIBALIZED TO SAVE OTHERS. OR OCCASIONALLY A UNIT WILL COME IN WITH A GREAT HEAD AND SOME OTHER COSTLY, LABOR INTENSIVE REPAIR SO I DO A "HEAD TRANSPLANT" OR SWAP THE WHOLE TAPE MECH FOR A PREMIUM UNIT. SO IF I WASN'T RETIRED I'D BE LOSING BIG$ BECAUSE I DON'T WANT RETURNS OR NEG. FEEDBACK. FROM WHAT I'VE LEARNED FROM ABOUT THIS BRAND IS THEY WERE ONCE IN TOP 3 TO 5 MFG. BUT TOWARDS THE END OF THE VCR ERA THEY HAD TO CHEAPEN UP AND GO VERY PLASTIC TO STAY COMPETITIVE AND HAVE ANY PROFIT. WHEN THAT FAILED, THE SOLD THE MFG. LICENSE TO A GROUP IN INDONESIA AND THAT IS WHAT IS IN THIS VIDEO AND THE LAST. THIS ONE WAS PRE LICENSE SALE AND LAST VID HE MADE WAS POST. BOTH ARE CONSIDERED POOR WITH THE INDONESIAN "GARBAGE" A 40 YR. MASTER REPAIR TECH TOLD ME PANNY HEAVILY REGRETTED THE LICENSE SALE AS THEY FEARED DAMAGE TO THE BRAND WOULD BE MASSIVE AS THESE UNITS FAILED AND FAILED AGAIN. BUT A GENERATION LATER, PEOPLE HAVE FORGOTTEN AND KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE HISTORY OF PANASONIC AND THE END OF THE VCR AND THE BIRTH OF THE DVD.
      MY TOP 5 BRANDS
      1) JVC::::::::::THE INVENTOR OF THE VCR AND LATER AFTER THE SONY BETA WAR, THE S-VHS (I HAVE 1)
      1B) SONY::::::: GETS SECOND BECAUSE EVEN TODAY THEY OFFER BLU-RAYS FROM 30$ TO $200+ VERY VERY WIDE PRODUCT LINE. THIS WAY MOST PEOPLE COULD BOAST "I HAVE A SONY" (THESE ARE WHY I WAS REPLYING TO YOU)
      3) HITACHI::::: I HAVE A 6 HEAD THAT IS AMAZING & ABOUT 2 DOZEN OTHER PREMIUMS
      4) MITSUBISHI:::: ONLY HAVE 2
      5) PANASONIC::::: QUALITY VARIES WILDLY MUST TRACK MODEL#'S AND MNF. DATE
      JUST NOTICED I HAD A "PANNY" AG-1330P COMMERCIAL UNIT IN MY PILE TO PREP NEXT. IT IS THE ONLY ONE I HAVE EVER SEEN INCLUDING THE NICE BLACK AND RED TRIMMED I HAVE FROM 91/92 THAT DOES NOT SAY "OMNIVISION"!!! MADE IN ALL METAL. SAYS, "PRO LINE SUPER DRIVE" "MULTI INTELLIGENT CONTROL" "PRO-LINE" "SUPER 4 HEAD HQ" WITH "SQPB" (THE ABILITY TO PLAY S-VHS RECORDED TAPES)
      ONLY FOUND ON PREMIUM TOP END MODELS.
      ANYHOW IF HAVE SOME SONYS (3) AND A PROLINE (1) THAT ARE SEMI PROFESSIONAL EDITING MODELS. CRAZY QUALITY. COLOR GRAPHIC HI-TECH FACES FROM THE 90'S BEFORE THE DOWNFALL BUT AFTER THE EXPERIMENT STAGE WITH MIC INPUTS, EDIT JACKS, AND FLIP OUT KEY BOARDS. HEAVIER LARGER ALL METAL SUPER CLEAN WITH SO MUCH CIRCUITRY INSIDE YOU WOULD NOT EVEN RECOGNISE IT AS A VCR IF YOU DIDN'T SEE THE HEAD DRUM. ONE IS IN NEED OF A POWER SUPPLY AND I COULD ONLY FIND 2 IN THE WORLD FOR SALE $400 & $600.
      I DIGRESS, IF YOU HAVE A MODEL OR BRAND YOU WOULD LIKE. AND A PRICE POINT I COULD REPLY VIA THIS CHAT AND LET YOU KNOW WHEN YOURS IS READY TO VIEW ON EBAY AND GET YOU A DEAL ON ONE THAT WILL LAST MANY YEARS. EVEN IF YOU SAID YOU NEEDED A SONY FOR EDITING MY MOST EXPENSIVE IS $100 W/FREE SHIP. AND A GOOD PANNY I COULD DO FOR $40 WITH A 30 DAY WARRANTY AND THE EBAY GUARANTEE W/BUYER PROTECTION. GOT 2 OR 3 PANASONIC VCR/DVD COMBOS DOZENS OF HITACHI AND JVC'S (INCL.THE 1 S-VHS JVC) HIGH END MODELS $40 IF YOU DON'T LIVE NEARBY 45 IF YA DONT.
      MY POINT IS THERE ARE BORDERLINE ANTIQUES AND THEY ARE SOLD IN THE CATEGORY OF "VINTAGE ELECTRONICS" PER EBAY. AND, A CAPACITOR COULD DIE IN A FEW MONTHS OR A PLASTIC GEAR COULD BRAKE OR A SMALL SPRING FALL OUT OF POSITION. BUT NOTING WITH A CLUE OF A PROBLEM WILL GET PAST MY INSPECTION/TESTING/REFURB PROCESS. AND YOU ARE PROTECTED BY EBAY AND ITS ALL 100% LEGIT BEEN SELLING FOR COUPLE YEARS BUT EBAY MEMBER FOR 12 YEARS. ONE WEEKEND I DECIDED IT WOULD BE FUN TO FOCUS ON 1 BRAND SO I LISTED 6 PANASONIC OMNIVISIONS FOR A WEEKEND. THEY WERE ALL UPLOADED BY LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND WERE TO LAST THE WHOLE WEEKEND THEY WERE ALL SOLD AT FULL PRICE BY SATURDAY AT 2PM. IT WAS CRAZY. BUT I SOLD 10 PANNYS THAT WEEK AND AM NOW LEARY OF THEM BECAUSE I HAD PROBLEMS W/2 AFTER THEY ARRIVED.1 FROM SHIPPING AND 1 FROM HAVING 6 IDENTICAL UNITS, THINK ACCIDENTLY SHIPPED ONE THAT WAS NOT EVEN READY TO SHIP. DID THE SAME WITH SONY BUT NO PROBLEMS AS I KEPT IT TO 5 A WEEK AND DOUBLE CHECKED EVERYTHING PLUS THEY DONT ALL LOOK THE SAME. WIDE VARIETY OF COSMETICS DESIGNS. THE OMNIVISION? NO WAY!!! IF YOU DONT ID THEM BY MFG. DATE THEY'RE ALL THE SAME EXCEPT SOME ARE SILVER AND SOME ARE GUNMETAL. (NOT INCLUDING THE DVD/VCR COMBOS!) THEY ARE NICE AND CALLED THE "DOUBLE FEATURE"
      DO SOME RESEARCH, FIND SOMETHING YOU MIGHT LIKE LET TO OWN. LET ME KNOW I'LL SEE IF I HAVE ONE OR SEND YOU A LIST OF WHAT I HAVE IN BRANDS/MODELS YOU'RE INTERESTED IN.
      YOU COMMENT WAS ONLY 1 DAY OLD AND I HAD TOO MUCH COFFEE THIS AM. LOL
      OH, AND SORRY BUT THIS GUY IS A BOOB. HE DESECRATED A PERFECTLY FINE VCR IN HIS LAST VID BECAUSE HE WOULD NOT CLEAN AND LUBE IT FIRST AND WAS TO STUPID TO NOT REPOSITION THE TIMING MARKS ON THE DRIVE GEARS BEFORE HE PUT BACK TOGETHER. IT WAS A true HORROR SHOW lol

      @Rick Corey I would like your eBay page, so I can check out these ''VCRs'' you have for sale.
      I own a JVC but it doesn't record very well, it also chews tapes up sometimes.
      P.S. Yes I have checked the one belt it has, I think it's the gears being worn out.
      (Edit: It must be at least $30 and no higher, I just need something that works good.)

      It's a HR-A41U, Made in Malaysia, 4 Head Mono, Ultra Spec Drive. It was a low end unit when my parents bought it. It worked great the first 5 years, but then the video started getting wavy and audio started muffling. I have cleaned the heads several times, doesn't change the performance one bit. I have never tried recording in SP, as my parents always told me to use EP and I just stuck with it, so in it's whole life has never triggered SP recording. The remote was also lost awhile back, so it's forever stuck in EP, so I could never test SP anyway. I don't think the heads are worn out, as there's no static lines or constant buzzing. It just records like a cheap VCR and it did much better when it was new. If I could, I would capture video from it if I had a capture device, to show how bad it is. If you have any VCRs to suggest, I would like to see some pictures, thanks.

      OKAY WE'RE GOOD. I WAS GOING TO TELL YOU I'M 100% WE CAN FIX THAT ONE IF THE SWITCH ISN'T IN TOO DIFFICULT A LOCATION. I THOUGHT IF YOU LIKED THIS ONE ENOUGH TO BUY IT YOU MAY WANT TO RESTORE IT TO LIKE NEW. BUT AFTER READING YOU'RE REPLY AND FINDING OUT IT'S A MONO HMMMM? NOT SURE YOU WANT TO STAY MARRIED TO IT. GONNA CHECK MY STOCK AND SEE IF I HAVE THAT MODEL AND HOW DIFFICULT IT IS. STRANGE ENOUGH THESE ARE THE 1 COMPONENT THAT CAN BE LOCATED ANYWHERE. A MAGNAVOX COMBO WITH DVD RECORDER /VHS RECORDER IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE UNLESS YOU HAVE ROBOTIC VISION A SURGEON'S STEADY HAND AND SOME NICE SOLDERING EQUIPMENT. BUT MONO IS OK IF YOU ARE JUST TAPING OLD TV SHOWS. YOU JUST GET A $2 SPLITTER AND SEND THE AUDIO TO BOTH CHANNELS. SO LET ME DIG AROUND AND ANSWER ME THIS WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE CAPABLE OF DOING? YOU USE DVDS? YOU WANT TO RECORD TAPES TO DISKS? RECORD DISKS TO TAPES? OR BOTH OR NEITHER? IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO GET A CAPTURE CARD w/software AND PUT IT ON YOUR PC THEN A 6 HEAD OR S-VHS MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD. JUST HELPED A 80YR. OLD NEIGHBOR TRANSFER OVER A 100 HRS OF HIS LIFE ON VHS TO HIS PC WHERE IT CAN BE TRANSFERRED TO DVD FOR THE GRANDKIDS AND FAMILY WHEN HE DIES. AFTER RESEARCH WE CONFIRMED WHAT THE EXPERTS SAID. NOTHING BEATS S-VHS. HANDS DOWN MUST CLEARER. NO DISCUSSION. NEXT IS THE 6 HEAD PROSERIES FROM JVC OR SONY. (JVC IS ABOUT $30-40 CHEAPER) NOT SURE WHAT THE JCV S-VHS I HAVE RETAILS FOR AS I WAS IN NO HURRY SINCE THEY ARE GETTING REALLY HARD TO FIND FIGURED IT LIKE SITTING ON GOLD. IT'S MODEL# IS HR-S3911U.... NOW THE NEIGHBOR USED MY 6 HEAD JVC THE TAPE DOOR IS LABELED "PRO DRUM V3 TECHNOLOGY" MODEL#M735 (VERY HIGH END) AND IT HAS A SWITCH ON THE FRONT THAT HAS THE SYMBOL 19u (MICRONS) AND THEN THE SWITCH IS LABELED "AUTO" IN UP POS. AND "OFF" IN DOWN POS. WE USED AUTO AS THE INFO WAS LIMITED AND MANUAL DIFF. TO FIND IF I REMEMBER. THE MACHINE PROBABLY KNEW BEST IN THIS CASE . SINCE EVERY SINGLE MACHINE SAYS 19u I WASNT ABOUT TO RISK HIS PRECIOUS TAPES BUY DECIDING TO TURN THE GAP FROM HEAD TO TAPE TO OFF!!!! IT WORKED WELL BUT THE OLDER THE TAPES THE SOONER THE UNIT NEEDED CLEANED SO WE ROTATED BACK AND FORTH WHILE WORKED ON JVC HE USED A HIGHLY RATED SAMSUNG VCR/DVD PLAYER COMBO. WHICH I BELIEVE HE IS GIVING ME AS PAYMENT FOR SERVICE. (HAVE TO CHECK) SO EACH UNIT DID ABOUT 50% OF THE WORKLOAD THE SAMSUNG MODEL IS DVD-V9800 AND WAS RATED 31 COMBO EVER MADE I BELIEVE. SO THATS 3 MODEL#S YOU CAN RESEARCH AND THINK ABOUT WOULD YOU LIKE TO FIX YOUR UNIT.I'M HEADING TO NEIGHBOR TO FIX WI-FI AND I'LL CHECK ON YOU LIL LATER. IF YOU WANT TO CAPTURE TO PC S-VHS IS #1 FOR QUALITY FOR EASE AND CONVENIENCE. YOU COULD GO STRAIGHT FROM TAPE TO THE DVD RECORDER/VCR COMBO COUPLE HAVE 1 TOUCH DUB. PUT IN TAPE. PUT IN DISK HIT"ONE TOUCH DUB" AND YOU'RE DONE.... HE DIDNT WANT TO TRY THAT BECAUSE HE HAD BAD EXPERIENCE WITH A DVD RECORDER. ALSO YOU DONT HAVE TO HAVE A "COMBO UNIT" JUST TAKE THE VCR YOU CHOOSE AND TAKE VCR OUTS TO THE A NICE DVDR INPUT. HE AND A LOT OF PEOPLE LIKE IT CAPTURED STRAIGHT TO THE PC WHERE IT CAN BE BACKED UP AND DISPERSED AS DESIRED. (THE 6 HEAD OR THE S-VHS IN THAT CASE) REGULAR VCR TO PC IS VERY DISAPPOINTING EVEN WITH PREMIUM CAPTURE CARD!!! OK CHEW ON THAT AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK

      I don't need to transfer tapes to digital, as my mother already did that at the local library almost ten years ago. I only use the VCR to record TV, usually I will pop in a new 8 hour tape and switch the channel to what I want, and leave the machine to do it's thing. I just don't like how it was crisp and turned to washed out wavy video. I do have another VCR somewhere and I'm currently searching for it right now, if I remember it should be a RCA unit. If I do come across it, it's older than the JVC and may record better, if not then I will probably head out to the Goodwill thrift store. To be honest I don't really care, as long I can find a VCR that has better picture quality and possibly cleaner sound. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be stable and not be washed out is all. From my knowledge the S-VHS units wear out more, since the cassettes have thicker film with more magnet on them, it usually lasts less than a standard VHS unit. Now the JVC ones with S-VHS ET are fine, but I never tried one of those, so I don't know if I would like it or not. I just stick with normal VHS units because if the machine breaks down, I could always play a tape in another. If I did buy a S-VHS unit, I would have to hope that I find a SQPB unit to play the tapes, incase the S-VHS VCR fails on me. As they are more expensive and harder to find than normal VHS ones. But right now, I like to keep in mind that all I need is one VCR and if it becomes more unstable, I will probably find a Hi-Fi Stereo deck for sale at a reasonable price.

    I have to say this Panasonic PV-8450 can be a nice knock-around VCR -- almost as good as a 1984-1989 model. Before I took delivery of the Panasonic PV-1730 VCR, my family had used it since my grandfather bought a home theater upgrade in 1985, which the PV-1730 came with. I had a Panasonic PV-7667 which is almost alike to your model aside from being wider and having a REW/FF/search knob on the right. Eventually, my current family gave up the PV-1730 due to them no longer watching VHS tapes -- they bought a new 80" TV, a Blu-Ray Disc player, and a new stereo amplifier receiver. Most of the old equipment was sold at a yard sale to recoup most of the money -- but they did send me the PV-1730 and told me to never return it.
    About 1 or 2 years ago to now, when the PV-1730 arrived, I found out why they gave it up -- it was completely dead to the world. I figured it had to have been in the same trouble with the electrolytic capacitor plague as most of those archaic Panasonic VCRs were. Thankfully the employees at an electronic restoration center I took it to found out that the failure didn't go too far and they were able to make my PV-1730 work as good as brand new within just a day -- and for a proper price as well! At 37 years old, it's just as good an example of a Panasonic VCR as those 1997-1999 units.
    And yes, they packed the original remote together with the PV-1730 -- I still have it.
    And I'm still keeping the PV-7667 as a backup VCR if I ever need to get the PV-1730 serviced again for whatever reason.

      What are the 84-89 models you're referring to? And what makes them better than this 98 model

    • @DarkDragonRoselinde
      @DarkDragonRoselinde 7 місяців тому

      @@zeldaguy8580 Panasonic released its first Hi-Fi models in 1984 (an example would be my PV-1730), which had VU gauges, recording level controls, and a headphone jack with its own volume level control. Plus, big VFD panels, the unique sounds of the mechanisms, and the 12, 14, or 16-preset electronic tuners featured in 1984 models. To many enthusiasts, that nostalgia factor can't be touched by VCRs from the 1990s.
      The PV-8450 is still a good VCR, and it and many others like it are readily available at proper prices. Just make sure you get one that has Hi-Fi.

      @@zeldaguy8580Unless you're SpatsBear or 12voltvids, please don't buy an untested 1980s VCR. Except if it has been fully serviced, and there's proof of it fully working. Plus they're often expensive because of that, and for the aesthetic or features. I own a handful of 1990s Panasonic VCRs, and all they needed was the heads cleaned. Belts are still strong, as they rewind and fast-forward fine. Just be careful because I got screwed, for buying broken 1980s machines. I tried fixing them, it was too overwhelming, and I felt dumb at the end of it. :P

    is that grinding noise when the cam gear turns normal? I have a Panasonic PV-9662 and it makes that same noise which worried me but seeing that this uses a similar chassis as mine and makes that same noise when the cam changes position makes me feel like that's probably normal.

      ***** okay. I've just never heard any other VCR make that kind of noise before. And like you, I had an Indonesian Panasonic before the one I have now and it did not make that noise when the cam would move so I had just assumed something was probably wrong with mine. But it seems that every video I come across of these Japanese Panasonics, they all do that, so I guess there's nothing to worry about. Thanks :)

It works great and I don't think I will need another VCR until it breaks down. :) I am going to stick with the LP mode all the way (the whole reason I bought the VCR) so I can achieve a good enough picture with enough time. I've had a lot of bad luck with SLP in the past and refuse to even use that recording speed. Cheers!

    • @horrortimeproductions5504

      The remote should automatically work, I have the exact same model that you have. I never had to program mine and I wouldn't know how if it didn't work. I wish I could help you out, unfortunately I think your remote is faulty and you probably need to buy a replacement off eBay. I've had this happen with a TV I owned, the original remote was unresponsive and I had to use a RCA universal remote. I have since lost that universal remote and I don't remember the model number, it worked on everything. :/

    • @skankhunt-pj1oi
      @skankhunt-pj1oi 6 років тому

      The thing is I have two. the VSQS1559 and the VSQS1560 and neither of them respond. Did you get the VCR with the remote ? I got the VCR then later the remote. I also have the universal RCA remote model RCR504BR and it works on my JVC S-VHS VCR but not on the Panasonic.

    • @horrortimeproductions5504
      @horrortimeproductions5504 6 років тому

      My VCR came with the remote when I bought it, I think the IR sensor on yours is probably burnt out. If it's not responding to any remote, then that's probably what is causing the problem. It's possible someone used a remote with a stronger IR beam with that VCR, it would cause something to fry on the board. I know this VCR has the annoying ''SELECT LANGUAGE'' and you can't get it off the screen without the remote. I don't set anything with my VCR, all I do is hit the ''Menu'' button on the remote to get rid of it. That really sucks that your VCR won't recognize any remote you have, I still wish there was a way for me to help.

    • @skankhunt-pj1oi
      @skankhunt-pj1oi 6 років тому

      I bought another replacement for the VSQS1559 and if that one does not work then I'm just going to use the Panasonic VCR just for playing tapes. Recently my JVC S-VHS VCR crapped out and that's why I wanted the Panasonic VCR to have all the functions. I'm just going to buy another VCR to replace the JVC one if the remote does not work.

      I changed the belt last Thursday, still does the same thing. I will try cleaning the encoder switch.

      @@overratedprogrammer what happened was the sensors for the tape beds went bad or something sometime between 10/09 and 11/13/2017. Edit: i should've tested it Nov 1st 2017 or Oct 27th or 26th 2017 and it may have or haven't worked.

    Hopefully it'll last, I always tell myself to stay away from VCRs made after the early 90's because of their questionable built quality... The worst VCR I ever used is a GE VG4056 from the mid 90's. This thing is so bad that it doesn't even have a problem telling you lies... On the front it says that it's a 4 head VCR, well guess what. It's actually a 2 head unit! Or maybe they mean 4 head as in 2 video heads, 1 audio head and 1 tracking head? What a joke... It still works surprisingly, but it does have a bad habit of eating your tapes now and then. Of course it's mono too.
    I had a Sears 30521 from the early 90's some years ago. It was really good... 4 heads, stereo hi-fi, it even had manual tracking if I remember correctly. It also had two small digital vu-meters on the front. Nothing special but still cool... Unfortunately the loading belt became stretched beyond usefulness...
    I recently bought a Panasonic AG-1950 thinking it would work well and would have great picture and sound quality because of its impressive look... What a mistake that was! Sometimes it loads the tape sometimes not, sometimes it plays and sometimes not... Another thing with it is that it doesn't have any RCA composite outputs. It has RF, and something which uses what I think are BNC connectors. What kind of signal does BNC usually carries? If I knew then maybe I could buy an adapter of some kind... Anyway it's a shame because it looks like a very good VCR!

      +VideoTape I think the newer ones from the late 90's and early 00's differ quite a bit in quality, some of the LG units for example are built very well and have had many hours on them, Sony made ones (some actually built by samsung) are cheap yet very realiable

      LG really? I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that they had a good experience with an LG VCR...

      I actually have the opposite mindset - I'm more inclined to go for a 90s VCR than an earlier one, because the 90s ones age better due to their simplified design, with more integrated electronics and simpler mechanisms. Early VCRs are definitely built better, but with mechanisms using many belts and circuitry with lots of discrete components and capacitors that might need to be replaced, they are much harder to maintain in working order today.
      Yes, VCRs underwent a sharp decline in quality after 1998 or so. The last half-decent ones were made by Funai in the early 2000s.

      ***** Another reason to go for a later model is because the old pinch roller and belts need replacing with age, older ones are better once those are replaced though! I've got a 1987 Mitsubishi HS-337 VCR used for recording shows

    I used to have a quasar unit that looked and functioned exactly like your panasonic. p2.liveauctioneers.com/98/595/268719_1_l.jpg there is a photo I found.

      Panasonic and Quasar were both brands of Matsushita Electric, so they are in-fact the same VCR.

    I have 2 Polaroid tapes exactly like that one. My 9450 does the exact same noise. These vcrs eject really fast. My sharp for example, takes like 3 times the time to eject the tape.
    My remote is the towerlight model. Yours look strange compare to it. It records really well in slp. There shouldn't be any difference in the sound between speed in hi-fi vcrs. You could in fact record 6hs of music in hi-fi (20hz-20khz response). I tried it and music sounds really great. I'm now thinking of doing mix vhs tapes lol.
    If you ever want to give a listen, I did made a video testing that : ua-cam.com/video/AI5rpBdT0Tk/v-deo.html
