  • So I got stopped at the Canadian border. My buddy Mauricio, who lives in Washington state, goes to Canada all the time. He never has any issues getting in. For some reason when I went to make my way in, I started to get questioned quite a bit. Well I think the questioning really started when he asked if I had a job and I said I was technically on leave from my place of employment. The border patrol agent then asked to see my bank statement to ensure that I had sufficient funds to support myself being in Canada. Once the agent saw that I had sufficient funds in my bank account to sustain myself, he just did a quick search of my vehicle and we were good to go. The border patrol agent told me that a lot of people try to migrate to Canada and he said it looked suspicious that I did not have a job. But he said once he saw my account statement, he felt comfortable knowing that I wouldn't be immigrating to BC, Canada.
After the craziness at the border, we proceeded to head to the Whistler Ski Resort and get some amazing snowboarding in!

Yes, he was nosey. His noseyness keeps Canada safe. I’m fine with it. More than fine with it.

@@anonymousjones09 clearly you don’t understand that border guards are trained to spot deception. Asking unrelated questions to a nervous person makes their deception show itself. How do people not realize border patrol tactics? Oh right I forgot, the average American doesn’t leave their borders hence why they come across as unintelligent to the rest of the world. This right here is exactly the thing we talk about behind your backs 😂 you guys are so clueless.

Another great video my friend. While I was stationed in Bremerton, WA we took a ride to Vancouver. I had a Ford F150 at the time with a fiberglass topper and was only in Washington a short time so I didn't have a chance to take my fairly new Honda 750 out of the back. The border agent thought we were transporting the bike to Canada to sell. Needless to say, the bike was still in the back of the truck when we left Canada. Be safe, Navy Mark...

Har! When I rolled up the Alcan, I got asked to pull in for more questioning and once a search going in AND out. (I don't have an innocent face like you). Canadians put me in a room then came in with a blow-up print of my license and gave me a mild 3rd-degree. Had no idea WTF, recognized it as a dumb intimidation tactic but let go quickly. (Both tennis shoes had a little material they might have objected to but no dogs and got out okay.)
Year later I hooked a ride with some friends going up there; rotating from cab to bed of small pickup truck; whatta ride, up to Fairbanks to retrieve the little NIssan camper I left when I flew back. Friend gave me a coyote or wolf head hide; small thing but looked cool on the dash. Believe me, by the time I got back to the Montana crossing I was BAKED from all that travel.
Usual questions: "Got any wildlife products?" "No, not a hunter." "I'll ask you again, sir: any wildlife products?" (Geez, lady. What's your trip?) "No." "So let me ask you a THIRD time ... any wildlife products?" "No. Honest. I swear." "Then what's that wolf hide on your dash?" "Oh. A wildlife product?" "Pull over to the inspection bay, sir." They had questions why there were a couple shotgun shells w/o a shotgun (in cabinet when bought it) but no shotgun but other than that let me go after a search. Fortunately without clambering up to the A/C unit to find more ... medicinal material. Helps not to "fit the profile" but you seem not to fit the profile so much, I'd be doubly-suspicious. But that's just me. Safe travels!
