Letter of protest should be sent to Roger Charles Hirst the elected police, fire and crime commissioner for Essex. Equally, the Chief Constable of Essex should be held to account. It is both a dereliction of duty to divert police resources for this activity when their record on solving actual crimes are dismal, but it is also a threat to free speech and or democratic society.
It could be a master stroke by Essex Police - by visiting a prominent journalist they knew it would get a lot of publicity and bring it out into the open and hopefully get it stopped once and for all. just a thought
