The audiobooks for The Kane Chronicles are some of the best I’ve ever listened to, especially because the books are written as an audio transcript. I highly recommend people to consume the books in that format if it is possible for them!
Actually I got my degree from the University of Memphis. I’ve just been a fan of FSU since I was 16. 1988 & the Fumblerooski in Death Valley was my introduction to FSU…
I just hope they don't ruin it like they did with Percy Jackson and the Olympians two movies, it would have been awesome to see the entire story get turned into movies
@@williamstelmar9451 Rick Riordan approved of the script for the Kane Chronicles, he was totally opposed to the Percy Jackson movies and scripts from day one…
I hope they cast Sadie and Carter exactly as how they’re described in the book - I realize personality is important but I also feel Sadie needs to be white as she comes from a more privileged lifestyle and isn’t used to the discrimination carter faces
I’d imagine that would be a good storyline and think they would want to keep. Like you said, it’s a good way of showing how she has a privileged lifestyle and you know companies tend to show that kind of stuff off more than not nowadays, that and i think it’s cool to see a white girl and black boy have that familial bond of brother and sister
@@user-lp7fc4iq3u Yeah but Sadie is described to appear very white whereas Carter appears very black to others, resulting in them being treated much differently
@@meda2325 yep I totally know what you mean and I agree that it influences the story + should influence the casting. but saying she's white is just like...factually wrong lol
I've been waiting and so excited for this series because, after Percy Jackson, the Kranes are my favorite and I'm so happy that it's getting more attention now. Thanks for the video! 😁
i think it might not be an open call this time, since they need a very specific set of actors for the main cast as well as the supporting cast. they would have to choose very carefully based on not just personality and skill, but also looks
They could still do an open call that requests, for example, black actors for Carter. An open call just means you don’t need an agent to audition, as closed calls are only sent to agencies. Open calls are open to the general public and are good ways to find young new talent that wouldn’t have that opportunity otherwise.
Unlike PJO, I do hope they keep the characters as they are. Since Kane Chronicles already has a diverse cast. Would be cool to see an actual North African actress as Zia, or at least Middle eastern actress. Plus Sadie being white passing, while Carter is black passing really shows how they are like polar opposites. Carter being black, and having that speech from his dad how he's gonna be judged more harshly by everyone because he is is what made him so stuck up, and unsure of himself, but also well read and nerdy. Sadie not looking like her brother or dad only made her feelings of abandonment and isolation from her family worse, she feels like she doesn't belong there. And like, I like how the book touches on how Julius gets upset whenever someone assumes Sadie isn't his daughter. That is like a subtle racism black dads face when they have a white passing daughter. "Oh, what a good step dad" But they should make Anubis black, or Middle Eastern, or at least Mediterrenean. Whitewashing him was a mistake.
The fasinating thing is some pharohs weren't black, because of the Greeks ruling in the Ptolemaic era ,which is why Cleopatra isn't "whitewashed". But before Greece they were African,Egypt makes Greece a child age wise.
Love it. Although, I think maybe Idris Elba might be a bit out of place here. I always pictured Amos having a deeper voice, like something a blues singer would have. My choices would be either Lawrence Fishburne or Keith David (who is from the same area Amos lives in), though admitly both would be a tad too old for the role. Not saying Elba doesn’t have a deep voice and isn’t a good fit, I just think Amos’s voice she bed a tad bit deeper. Also, just out of curiosity, who would you cast as Desjardin?
I love both Kane Chronicles and Magclnus Chase honestly... main points I'm reading Rick's books isn't only for the characters but because of his incorporation on Mythologies, I read a book about Egyptian Myth and culture in Elementary school and loved it (my 1st exposure to it) and my 1st time knowing Norse myth is from an anime series, I didn't even know it was norse myth until high school. After finding PJO, I looked into Rick's work and find his other series and thus reading all of his Myth related books. I loved it all!
Ooh I should definitely reread those! The Red Pyramid was the first Rick Riordan book I ever read, and I didn't even realize he was the "Percy Jackson guy" at the time lol
I read the Kane Chronicles when I was little and only recently started reading Percy Jackson, the Kane Chronicles were my favorite books for a long time and this is motivating me to reread the series
These books were amazing and I hope they give it justice as these were my favourites and for actors I would say use the actor for Wes from htgawm and for Sadie use the actress who was in the just cancelled batgirl movie
I really think that Carter should be played by Issac Brown, because I don't think he'd be too egregiously old for the role. Also, his performance as Gus in The Owl House definitely shows that he can easily be a leading man in an action-adventure film series.
Ok but here is my cast!! Rick I wanna help you out!!! - Alyvia Avlyn Lind as Sadie Kane - Isaiah Russell Bailey as Carter Kane - Yara Shahidi as Zia Rashid - Jacob Tremblay as Anubis -Virginia Williams as Ruby Kane - Janelle Monoe as Bast -Danai Gurira as Isis - Micheal K. Williams as Set -Sterling K. Brown as Amos Kane - Mahershala Ali as Julius Kane Bonus : -Vincent Cassel as Setne - Letitia Weight as Emma - Morgan Crabtree as Liz
