In an alternate history where the male population is nearly decimated, eligible men serve as concubines to the woman shogun inside the walls of the Ooku. -
When I binged the series I didn't expect it too hit me so hard when they got to the part with the monk. 😢
I binged the entire anime series over the July 4 weekend and thought it was pretty good. I was fascinated by this alternate-reality historical-fiction, where the third Tokugawa Shogun was forced to quarantine all of Japan from a plague that ravaged the entire population. It was also a critique on the political and social structure of the samurai class system that was turned it on its head because of drastic measures.
The story was well written and tied nicely into actual Japanese history. The character arcs were poignant and sympathetic. The plots and political intrigue was also fascinating. It’s not an action genre if that’s what you’re looking for, but I found it compelling, maybe because it reminded me it what happened with Covid. I hope there’s more.
Yeah, a lot of the elements reminded me of Covid roo (and it reminded me of most other reverse-gender-role kind of stories).
I think i may have watched this in a 24-48 hour binge. Totally worth it and wish there was more.
Wow, I just finished the show and it was really good. Binge watched it in a day and the last episodes made me sad thinking only a few episodes remain of this wonderful show. Damn, I want a season 2 soon.
This looks like a heavy National Geographic story but in Japan.
This was actually good
I love Ōoku, i read it. A few years back, it was adapted into live action. Now we see it adapted into anime. Thank you.
Ōoku has great word building with a reversal gender role.
I’d like to watch it but I don’t know enough of what I’m getting into to interest me.
Absolutely love this animation! ❤️👍❤️👍❤️👍
It was so good, even if I wanted to see the latest shogun's reforms
EXCEPTIONNEL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Du manga traditionnel comme je les aime.
Je suis fan !!!!
i loved it so much, made me bawl my eyes out
I binged this series in one day because I just need to find out what happened to everyone 😢
My husband and I binged this; couldn't stop watching. I am now forming an Ōoku in Cleveland, Ohio. If you just got laid off because of AI come to my ōoku... I love nerds.
So a harem? 😂jkjk it sounds fun but at the same time ōoku is a lot of work to have it run smoothly.
Este doblaje está super
Wow 😯 muy interesante quiero verlo 😖👌👏💯
I cant find the Soundtrack from this Serie on UA-cam😢
0:13 Is this Freddy Fazbear? Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Miss Kama kinda spoke about this before.
Ayo, we got Steve Blum narrating this!?!
Instant watch! It's been a while since I've heard him in an anime!
Toonami rarely liked this.
Here from twitter.
perferct anime, I loved every minute
Little?
Loved the whole story. People are right with saying this is a critique on political, social class system, and the economy during the time period where this narrative took place. The samurais are devoted and loyal to the Tokugawa Shogun. It’s an interesting detail to point out that the historical records have made some alterations and kind of was forced to reinstate that men ruled instead of women. Where in fact women were the supremities in the end.
“Sounds familiar…”
Sign me up!
Wait.. Varric Tethras is that you?
I hope netflix brings back spriggan
So whats better, this or Y the Last Man?
Look mommy its Spike Spiegel!
There's a movie that has the same plot as this that I watched a few years ago. I will give this a go since the live action movie was really good.
Im just hapy he are getting baki the pickle war's here soon thank you netflix
Wasn’t this a live action movie first ? Has the same storyline
Found it it’s called the lady shogun and her men
I was about to ask if this was rabies, but I don’t think rabies gives rashes
It's red faced smallpox
@@j77535 thnx
In this timeline the Mongolians definitely conquered Japan
Because of that bear and the boy they caused a whole deadly disease for men and not for women, which caused a social disaster.
It causes a low birth rate in food production and slows down the economy without men.
So you think it was the bear infected the boy.
❤❤🇮🇹🇮🇹
Why the fuck is that German dubbed? Xd so random
Don't watch this....i am still depressed and fucking sad, why just why did i watched this anime...when i was literally already sad due to something....fucking hell.
The most logical thing they could do was killing each other or killing the grandmother, but no everyone has to live by principles. Now bear the consequences and the guy arikoto was the most coward character i have ever seen in any anime.
Even at 10:1 it seems pretty far-fetched.
Why couldn’t this happen in real life? Even only for a century? That way men can appreciate women a little more.
I am sorry if your father hates you or if you havent met any gd male figure. But wishing the death of men after watching some godforsaken anime written by a sub tells some much about your mental health and personality
@@Asinatorsdaughter that’s not really what I meant I don’t hate men. I mean sure I point out their flaws just like society has always done with women. What I’m trying to say is if the roles were reversed maybe they’ll appreciate us a bit more and understand us. The beatings, no power or say, the force to lay with a complete stranger.
@@AnimeLover-lo9blyeah right, you sure appreciate what men do for the world you're living on. 😂
Because it was not a canon event
@@AnimeLover-lo9bl see thats the problem with current feminism it has gone away from appreciating both genders and women having equal rights to 'men are lower then us and we want all their benefit without the effort'. I myself am a girl so dont play the gender card on me if you are gonna talk. And its 2023 nobody puts women down except for women themselves and some scums who are hated by their neighbors, society etc. A women in today's age is as privileged as men if not more. Tell me why are the women not laying bricks , cleaning sewers, repairing toilet flush , working in oil rigs. Its just your own perspective that is putting yourself as a women below men . I have never seen my mother being beaten by my father. My parents are also more biased towards me then my younger brother i could gey away easily from any mistake on my part whereas he gets scolded for almost every little thing. What i wanna say is that although i can somewhat agree with your statement it doesn't change the fact that in 2023 nobody actually gives two shits about you being male or female unless you yourself start pointing it out
It is interesting, but it has depictions of m/f and m/m SA. You've been warned.
make me understand is the rape.
Yes. There are two scenes in season 1 that heavily indicates that crime.
@@jema2609 3 scenes are people afraid to write now days.
Where is Attack on titan ???? 🙁🙁😕😕😕
I believe it's dropping early fall
This anime make me sick….
On one hand, I can't stand the terrible quality of English dub in anime. On the other hand, I hate the idea of all those people losing their job. Sigh..
English dub in anime is great I have no idea why many of you want to hear it in Japanese it makes no sense it feels natural to hear it in English.
And Japanese voice acting in anime is over the top, and unnatural it is seen as a joke in japan. but many westerners are weebs so they lap it up.
how we can put this kind of stories more than horrible, rape and pedophilia, it is abused. I write on this netflix, because I can't find that of netflix France, if I could, I will report it so that it is removed!!!
You do know that this is how it was in edo time period japan. things like rape was the norm.
You are going to have to put it in English@@user-xh5vz4ty8g
I love the animation but the plot is so cringe.
Cringy feminist anime. Not surprising from netflix. Hard pass!
They didn't produce it, they licensed it for streaming. Big difference.
@@Tyrone181 but their selection and consideration of it aligns with their political values and agenda. It is not a coincidence bro. Look at majority of their shows. There is a common theme here.
It is barely feminist, it is filled with homoeroticism. And if u really think about it, the ending was basically explaining a justification for keeping the patriarchal system even in an era where women outnumbered men 4 to 1. This is an anime for men who love men imo
@@skj4559 it's all the same ball park. Feminism, transgenderism, race baiting, strong independent female lead and every other brain rotting leftwing rhetoric.
@@skj4559DEFINITELY!, a building filled with men learnt in swordmanship they can't kill each other but they can sexually violate each other whenever and wherever without punishment. Bullshit. Just imagine being able to yield a sword, but you just lie there for another man to violate you as a man yourself.
Plus isn’t the Ōoku meant for the men to serve the woman, since it's her haram I was expecting her to have kids with a selected few. This anime is just confusing and depressing. 😮💨
Sorry for the little rant btw.
Why isn't Oshi No Ko in the foreign catalogue? only in Japan, please make it available for many countries, stop limiting the amount of anime for foreign countries, please understand.
It's not netflix fault if another streaming service bought the exclusive rights to the license overseas.
