To your point that CA has the best high school wrestling... You didn't even mention PA. Since, 1961 PA has produced 504 Individual NCAA All-Americans. CA 240 with a population that exceeds Canada. With all due respect, It's not even close. Bassett made his statement. Just because a state has a single division state tournament doesn't mean they are better than the rest. CA hasn't produced the likes of Schalles, Haselrig, Colat, the Carr Bros, Bobby Weaver, Curt Angle, Spenser Lee etc. etc. Nothing against your state but you need some perspective.

A single class tournament doesn't make it harder especially if the competition isn't as good. CA has great wrestling. And, its tournament is very tough. This is true. But I cannot accept your opinion as fact. Intuitively, you do not make sense.

Name one public school in PA better than Poway, Buchanan or Gilroy. And with 3000 high schools feeding into one single state tournament, CA is legit. PA absolutely has a lot of the nation's top talent (Wyoming Sem, Bishop McCort, etc.), but to downplay Zepeda or CA wrestling is just ignorant.
