People keep building on sand bars on barrier islands. It is sad. They will loose all their things, and the insurance companies will rise everyone's fees, so that all will pay. ....................
Oh my - I hope people are smart enough to move inland at least, just out of the surge zone to stay safe. Please take your animals with you - if you can't survive this, neither can they. There's going to be a lot of stuff left over from Helene flying around.
it's almost 10am here in Miami and so far just light sporatic rain, and no gusty winds....it's actually like a typical day, but then again we are several hundred miles from the eye of the storm.....breezes are from the East
8:30 It looks like it's tracking the south side boundary of the cone but there's no guarantee that it will continue like you said it could make a run for Tampa and anywhere else in the cone.
NOT sure why those folks habitually are accepting and endure the mental and emotional abuse. Rebuild should not be an option where people have encroached and disturbed the coastline.

Yes, my insurance rose another $400 this year alone!
