Canada Dry- The concept with the puppet people in this commercial is quite interesting. I can see it being an idea for a horror movie. Green Giant Stuffing Originals- I always enjoy the animation of that Sprout character with his farmer friend, who acts as his mentor, it seems, in commercials like this one. Sprout should have had his own animated series, as I see real potential for that in these commercials.
I remember all my older family members being excited for it. 1 time my grandfather was talking about it for a week because they were showing Hondo in 3D! Some old John Wayne movie.
I remember going to see that re-release of Pinocchio that year when I was 7. Back when we were content with just the classic cartoon, instead of Tom Hanks puttering around with a CG puppet and animals.
Hopefully the recent management changes at Disney will somehow stop this doomsday train of CGI/Live action reboots. The Jungle Book one was fine on it's own, but we don't need to see remakes of every classic animated film. The Pinocchio remake is particularly egregious because of how much effort was put into the original film (it's probably the most technically impressive movie that Disney ever made) and the remake feels so unapologetically lazy and uninspired.
@@80sCommercialVault My favorite of the Disney remakes is one not many talk about, which is 2016's Pete's Dragon. It was a wonderful reinterpretation of the original as a drama, and featured some great performances, including one of the last on-screen appearances of Robert Redford before he retired from acting.
I can appreciate a remake if they're actually trying to reinterpret the source material and actually make something new. I feel like they are trying to remake their catalog of classic films because focus groups tell them that today's crop of kids find 2D hand drawn animation to be old and boring.
People should actually be taught more about the AT&T breakup and why monopolies are bad. The idea that at one point Americans were forced to rent their phones from the only telephone provider that existed is absurd.
@@80sCommercialVault And the bell system also sold the only phones before they were broken up. It was simply called the phone store. I remember the jingle they used in their commercials at Christmas time: "With the gift that keeps saying something year after year (a telephone, a telephone), give someone a phone of their own."
2:09 - Is stuffing really such a bizarre concept in the land of the Jolly Green Giant that the sprout kid has to say "stuffing?" while having a look on his face that looks like he walked in on his parents in bed?
1:35 Is this supposed to be a "bored stiff" joke, or are these people trying to convince the Wet Bandits not to break into their house? Lots of great, classic jingles and songs in this volume. 🎶♥

@1:08 Is that Peter Parker's Uncle Ben? @4:35 Damn, that Wranglers commercial was pure 80's action awesomeness. It sucks that we've become so jaded that viewing audiences today would mercilessly mock and pick apart a fun commercial like this. @7:37 "What makes new Citrus Hill so select?" It's like, "Diet Coke coming at ya!! With ice!! Perform acrobatic feats on skis!! Blast over waves in a baddass catamaran!! Look at this fighter jet!! Dance awkwardly!! Freaking hang-glide into the sun!! SPACE SHUTTLE!! Bikinis!! Awesome!! Diet Coke!!!!" @30:53 "I think I'll major in....Twix!" That man went on to become a U.S. senator.
She'd been on "Cheers" since 1982. She was no longer doing commercials at this time except for some furniture company in Chicago that had her under contract: ua-cam.com/video/VQgmD6Ckyww/v-deo.html
The short-haired woman in the Wranglers commercial looked like Courtney Cox (as she appeared in that video where she danced with Bruce Springsteen during a concert).
Looks a lot like her but I don't think it's actually her. She was definitely doing commercials around this time, but I can find no references to her being in a Wrangler commercial that aired nationally in 1984, which I don't think would be the case if it were actually her. Remember, we're talking about an actress who was on one of the most popular sitcoms of the last century.
Today is the start of the 2022 Christmas Marathon! 25 videos uploaded daily until Christmas! 🎄🎅🎄
Awesome Sauce 🤩
That will be most jolly of you
Love those old broadcast tv channel into bumpers. Nostalgic Candy
Yayyy ❤️💚❤️
🙂👍
Hooray for another marathon! Thank you for all you do, and excited for the next 25 days!
I'm a huge Jeopardy fan. I wasn't around in 1984 but would have loved to watch that episode! Miss you, Trebek.

26:21- what a wholesome commercial. They don’t make them like that anymore. I feel like Christmas was more Christmasy in the 80s if that makes sense.
i was 4 years old 1984 what a era
was 14 in 84.....last great year of my life...with 82 being the best....
The grandiose spectacular of the network weekend movie...
Man I remember, as a child in the 80s. It was full of commercials too, but it was an event that excited.
I remember all my older family members being excited for it. 1 time my grandfather was talking about it for a week because they were showing Hondo in 3D! Some old John Wayne movie.

Incredible set as always. Thank you for all that you do.
Noting the lack of [prescription] medication pushing, healthcare insurance and ambulance chasing lawyers.
Prescription drugs couldn't be advertised on TV and Print media until 1997.
22:49 - I bet that guy loves it when she discusses his drinking in public display in front of everyone...
A sign you’re old is you have the faintest idea what Andy Griffith is talking about in that AT&T commercial.
People should actually be taught more about the AT&T breakup and why monopolies are bad. The idea that at one point Americans were forced to rent their phones from the only telephone provider that existed is absurd.

@@spectrum10 It must be easy to call yourself "the Phone Store" when you are literally the only business that sells phones.
Did anyone else ever try to drink orange juice by stabbing an orange with a straw like in the Tropicana ads?? i really though that shit would work!😄😆

19:33 exercise equipment?!? I have questions …
Alright, it's that time again! 25 days of Christmas commercials from this amazing UA-cam channel! 😊🎄
Never saw that Canada Dry ad before. I’m thankful as it would have destroyed my poor little 10 year old mind with its horrificness. Holy wowzers.
God bless you, my friend for all the wonderful commercial videos and those still to come! Merry Christmas!!
I love the old timex commercials.
People were sure very happy to shower in the 80s
“Blood and Fire” with E G Marshall must’ve been a significant show, as it was shown at 5:30 in the morning! 🤣
1:35 Is this supposed to be a "bored stiff" joke, or are these people trying to convince the Wet Bandits not to break into their house?

That stuffing commercial had me hollerin

Berengers...a drama about an upscale department store? Interesting. I'm guessing it didn't last long. LOL
the 80's last of the innocence after that people grubbing for themselves gimme gimme gimme
Great upload.
Thanks.
Chewey cough squares? Dear gawd thats gross LOL
Great, thanks.
I still think a station that aired retro commercials for current products would generate interest.
They used to sell retro commercials on VHS, we opened a few. I think UA-cam has killed that opportunity
I totally agree. I'm so tired of all the pharmaceutical commercials that cause more harm than good.
That Canada Dry was creepy!🤣
@1:08 Is that Peter Parker's Uncle Ben?

It is actor Cliff Robertson, who did many other things besides Spider-Man. Please read the video description.
@@80sCommercialVault Thought it was him! Yes, I've seen him in a few other movies but his turn in Spider-Man was really, really memorable.
I thought the waitress in the Dial soap commercial was Shelley Long, but after a closer look I changed my mind, I don’t think it’s her.
She'd been on "Cheers" since 1982. She was no longer doing commercials at this time except for some furniture company in Chicago that had her under contract:

Another 25 days of awesome on the way! Plus creepiness right off the bat, we didn't need a Pepsi Snowman or a talking pine tree this year, nope!
I don't remember seeing the Canada Dry commercial as a kid, but if I saw I know I would HATE IT!!!! I have a fear of mannequins since I was 3 or 4
Man, those belt buckles were cheap.
