In English Please.?
Ravi Shankar gave a concert at Colorado Women’s College in 1960 or ‘61. He was rather late and when he came in he looked as if he might have been on one airplane after another for a long time. He went backstage and the dear friend who had invited me to the event got up and went backstage and after awhile gestured to me so I followed. On first seeing Ravi my thought was, “He’s all in. No way can he possibly play at his best, poor man.” As he tuned his sitar what looked to my eyes to be a miracle took place in front of me as all signs of fatigue left him. It was as if he was becoming years younger. That sight, and the glorious music that followed opened my sixteen or seventeen year old mind and ears to much my life would still be hungry for without my knowing it. Wordless prayer!
Wings of eagles? More like Garuda!
I am not accusing anyone but actually it is common among musicians to use drugs behind the stage
Thank you for sharing that. 🙏
Pristine soul this. One of the greatest ever!
How amazing Pete. I feel I had almost the same experience in '75 at Oxi College in LA. Meeting him for the first time changed my sole. I played my Ricki Ram everyday for years after that.
It is respectfully lovely to see youngsters are learning, practising, and being appreciated. I urge art lovers to appreciate it even a single like or comment boosts confidence. Thank you 🙏🏽
Exactly.....I totally agree to your words.

Respectfully? You don't have respect for anyone else? Anyways, nice and true words.
I'm no expert but this sounds really good. Her tone, timing, and bends sound exquisite.

I love how the instrument itself sounds like if it was praying. It's like a voice instead of a sound.
She plays as one who has given their heart to Lord Shiva. The vibrations she produced match her aura as she moves and tunes the strings, like a enlightened Sage. May peace and prosperity follow her like Vayu, lord of the winds. Aum Shanti Shanti Shanti

Shiva? You are smoking too much "Shiva" if you believe those fairytales...
@AmberSigler-zf8mm I have offered no disrespect here, yet you attack me based upon my beliefs? My Lord is a peace loving God who has a prominent role in destruction of all Evil just as other Gods that I will not discuss here, yet I am the one who is labeled a drug smoker? I still do not offer any rebuttal based upon hate, lies, or distasteful utterances to you. I will however as a representative of Mahadev offer you this. To your words that have brought pain to my heart, I say thank you. You have that devine right to speak ugliness to my Lord. Gratitude of mine is upon you, so that everyone who may read this gain their own understanding through meditation and contemplation that my Lord
@AmberSigler-zf8mm Kaal Bhairav is a complacent, peaceful and loving God. It is only at the end of the Kaliyuga does he destroy the evil from the world, so rebirth and restoration may commence us to a golden age. You carry hate within you, that I am unclear of. Not sure if you know me and hate me personally or hate Lord Shiva. Either way, my friend, hate is a destroyer of your energy or Prana. It will drive you to madness and self hate. Please allow me to clear you of this dark energy, and help us move forward as clean energy beings. I hold no grudge towards you. I consider you as my sister, and offer to you my own pure Prana to cleanse you here and now. Let me give thanks to the one who allowed our peace and renewed energies. Aum Nama Shivaya Har Har Mahadeva, Jai Jai Shankar Shambo
This young artist's fine performance brought tears to my eyes. She plays with flawless intonation, and really makes this instrument sing, touching the listener's heart. Great appreciation!
I completely agree!
I agree wholeheartedly. Very well done.🌞
After hearing too many sitar and sarod ragas ending with stupidly fast gats,
I found a very serious rudra veena recording by Sundaram Balachander and was immediately pleased.
Slower-than-slow alaps leading to no faster than moderate-tempo jhallas or gats are So much more satisfying.
Making a superior impression does not require blazing speed; it requires exceptionally skilled playing.
This young lady seems to be on her way to something great.
I super agree with you. I have a personal thing with Bach and people racing through the tocatta and fugue like it's a race. It has to be about how it makes the listener feel. Not how freaking fast you can get to the finish line.
I am a huge fan of jyothiji and accidentally bumped into this . Absolutely delighted there is some one to carry the torch forward. It is like dhyaan. Thanks to the guru and the disciple
such a difficult instrument to play, she has played so well. So inspiring to know these instruments are kept alive....God bless Mrunalini 🙏
Amazing nocturnal, meditative music from a young and discerning player. Her sense of tempo, scale and space are really pleasant to listen.Saved to favorites.
She is only a youngster, yet she plays this difficult instrument with ease.
Beautifully played!
The style of playing resembles of course her guru Vidushi Smt. Jyothi Hegde and it brings me joy to see Rudraveena tradition stay and flourish in namma Karnataka.
Song of creation, music of life, sounds of the universe.
As far as her age is concerned she is still a beginner and in that perspective she has done full justice with her instrument, music and Guru..... My best wishes always
I don't know anything about your music tradition except just listening but I must thank you for this recording which I did like very much.
Этот инструмент внеземного происхождения,даже если только увидеть,не слушая!!

oOh, my god. How wonderful to see such a young person dedicated to this ancient, majestic instrument. you are really playing great. !!
Wow, what a neat and clean alap jod and thokjhala playing in this age, God bless her। In time' she will be a great artist, all' the best.
L'accordatura dello strumento è la vera e propria ricerca dell'allineamento per la meditazione successiva. Chissà di chi è la reincarnazione.
I love the Rudra Veena, your instrument has a fantastic sound quality and your performance is wonderful; congratulations!
Incredible. Her parents must be so proud. Wonderful!!!
How wonderful. This particular instrument seems to have an especially rich sound which is not surprising given the large resonators. This reminds me of when I saw Ravi Shankar play morning ragas at a four hour long morning concert in San Diego California starting at 9 AM and going to just after 1PM at the Marriott Hotel Ball Room in Mission Valley with Shakier Hussein on tablas in the mid 1990's.
Ravi Shankar said we rarely get to hear morning ragas because most concerts don't start in the morning, so I felt privileged.
At the end of the four hours I thought ", what, you mean its already over?" the time flashed by in as if no time. After the show I met him and played the harmony array mbira for him, an instrument that I invented, and he loved it. I love this music I hope she keeps to it.
Shakier was incredible as a percussionist. The two of them carved out their own niche in Western music!!
Zakir Hussein , is a genius, and was my roommate while I went to college. I had the pleasure of recording with him and his father. My boss , Richard Bock, brought Ravi Shankar to the US and recorded his first album in 1958.
@@davidcollin1436That's awesome! I didn't get the chance to talk to him about the harmony array mbira that I had invented, he kind of brushed me off, but I was not insulted because he was getting ready to play the 4 hour concert and being a performance artist myself I know you don't have time to talk, I just thought to talk anyway because I felt sure that he would love the harmony array mbira for sure, which I had with me.
He was later to play one of my harmony array mbiras that had been bought by Pharaoh Sanders for use on his album "Save Our Children". So I hadn't needed to tell him about it anyway, by fate he discovered it for himself later. It was used on several of the albums tracks to really great effect, his playing was fantastic and the sound of the instrument really complimented the sound of Pharaohs exotic sax sound.
I remember being 14 years old and reading about Ravi Shankar, the author was writing that "Westerners" could not understand this "foreign" and "alien" music.
Then when I heard Ravi Shankar on TV for the first time about a week later I was just aghast at the beauty of it, I could not comprehend and still can not comprehend what the author thought I would "not understand" extreme beauty needs no explaining or understanding, it just is or your not really paying attention.

Hindu classical music isa very deep transcendental personal experience. Very nice video.
Exactly! She plays obviously wonderfully. My fault as a European has been for years to try to listen to this as 'music'. No, this is another kind of 'sound-thing', like African drumming is a 'rhythm-thing'. The goodness is different, enjoyment different, the quality different. A moment of clarity!

Thank you too!
It's really very impressive and meditative ...Raag Madhuvanti is a very melodious raag...you have done justice to the raag😊
This feels like an accurate retelling of my life up until this point. The first 15 minutes full of anxiety, and angst due to the dichotomy of anticipation, and apprehension. While clearly musical, with some beautiful moments, there's nothing from the last measure to inform an expectation for the next, which may potentially take a darker turn. Eventually, and without expectation, there's suddenly accompaniment, so while I was still searching for direction, I wasn't doing it alone. At around the 20 minute mark a relaxed groove starts taking form, and while more predictable, there's comfort in each successive routine measure. It feels good. Eventually the order falls apart, into chaos, but if this reads through to an accurate foretelling of my final days, I'd be satisfied with thees last few measures closing on the most soothing aspects of the whole returning as effortlessly deliberate while rounding that final corner of the maze. I'm a bit overwhelmed by this piece. The innate depth of this musician is awe inspiring. As a 52 year old man, I don't regularly anticipate feeling like I done been told by someone whom I'm unable to describe as a young woman, or a little girl, with any degree of conviction, based on their outward appearance, Needless to say, this exceeded whatever expectation I had when I started on this journey. Absolutely beautiful!
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
23:49
@@user-xk5kz5qw4u Ah yes, the chaos. That would be it. It's urgent, commanding attention. 15:22 to 23:49 leaves so much room for oxygen. There's time to let one's attention wander, and still not miss a single note. I've just played this through again, and 20:10 to 20:30 is a perfect juxtaposition of both atmospheres sharing the same space, with that especially bold bend at 20:20 following a subtle and very human imperfection she greets with a charmingly wry smile.
Without even reading the description I immediately recognized the very distinct signature of Jyoti Hegde - whose music I’ve been really fond of for quite some time. A very talented young disciple indeed, bravo!

Very nice slow performance. Slow is beautiful. I have visited such performances shows in Delhi’s surrounding areas. I liked the grace that comes with the slowness
Slow like the Sun
Excellent... When a rudra veena is played, in the middle of performance the artist is no longer seen and you can only see the mesmerizing motion of rudra veena as it sways while singing divine notes.
Keep it up and hope to see you as the face of rudra veena in future.
Really? So, you made the artist irrelevant to the experience and then asked her to "keep it up and hope to see you as the *face* of rudra veena in future". Really?
No, he is alluding to meditation, meaning that one can be so concentrated on the divine music that all else disappears and one is left with just the beauty of music. One is lost and the inner self is experienced without intention of thought. @@arlrmr7607
Thats where the artist disappears to give way to the music that is being played ! If the artist does not disappear in his art, can his art be complète!
@@arlrmr7607not really the artist becomes a part of the instrument.. that’s the peak of music

As the curtain came up two strong young fellows came forward, helping Dave walk to the piano. After being seated, he thanked them and introduced blu Rondo, Al Turk.
