I own both the GBR3 and the Clean Ocean (smaller one) and absolutely love both of them. Oris is brand that punches way over its weight. Really well made and spectacular to look at. Couldn’t be happier with mine 10/10 recommendation
For $2500, I think I would go for a new Tudor Black Bay. It's a pretty dial but it's 43mm with a Selita. San Martin makes an homage of your oris 65. Maybe they'll do one of these eventually.
Definitely. I picked up a Clean Ocean second-hand, so the asking price was considerably less than list, but I feel like, at around the $2000 range, I'm looking for a nicer movement than an ETA2824 or SW200. Heck, these days, for that kind of money I'm also starting to look for some sort of on-the-fly adjustment in the clasp.

As my wrist does just fine with larger pieces I absolutely had to have one of these when they first dropped. It's a stunner in natural sunlight, the date wheel is a different touch, and the 9 o'clock small seconds has grown on me considerably since sizing the bracelet. I didn't quite pay $2500usd but rather just under $2200 and it was worth it to me.
I have 6 Oris Aquis watches and 4 of those are small seconds (the older, chunkier, closed back 500M models not the newer ones). It's gorgeous, probably the nicest watch esthetically (IMO) you have ever featured. I generally buy mine from reputable gray market sellers a bit above or below a thousand when I can stack discounts. It's very pretty, but I would not pay $2,500 for it even loving Aquis as I do.
Wow. Any experience on these as store of value for those who dream to maybe own one for special occasions? Deals to be had? Ease of resale later on? Thanks!
@@Cloxxki if you keep your eye out you can generally pick up an Aquis for just at or below $1,000 from reputable grey market sellers. I did find some of the ones being sold as "new" were obviously open box units or had probably been used for display. There was one Aquis chronograph I wound up returning because the date change function kept sticking but to their credit the seller did try to send it into Oris twice but it kept sticking everytime they sent it back. I bought several from the Certified Watch Store, including the misbehaving chronograph, and I found they do stand behind their products. One thing you do have to watch out for on some of the bracelets the screw pins will tend to slowly walk their way out. If you see this happening get some low strength loctite to keep it in place.
I have a blue Oris Aquis and soon I’ll be getting the green. The watch is unique, rugged, love the hand set and lollipop second hand, but it’s all about the sunburst dial. This Barrier Reef is no different. Oris simply gets color. I do agree though with Jodi- I’d save a $1,000 and pass on this or any limited edition.
I have the 43mm blue aquis which I don't wear as often anymore as I wear suits to work so tend to wear my seamaster or speedmaster. Watching this makes me want to wear the aquis on the bracelet again! I would however recommend the rubber strap for the aquis. Micro adjustment on the go and has been enthused with vanilla so after 3 years the strap still smells of vanilla. By far the best strap out there.
Christopher Houghton Do u have any leather watch bands u can chew on until then?🤣 U have my deepest sympathies sir. I too am a victim of horology disORDER! 💸💸💸
I have a cheap homage of a simple Aquis to try it for size. Surprisingly modest in size on wrist at ~43mm . Much like the 39mm Pagani Design "Daytona". Definitely one of the watches I'll consider once I'm ready to shell out that sort of cash. Especially if I can get a deal to secure long term value retention. Would love to have one that weighs as much, the cheap homage lost 40+ grams somewhere being quarz despite a lack of taper on the bracelet.
Very nice watch, but I agree with the other comments lamenting the +10 second accuracy. While I don't demand COSC certification, I would expect a higher standard of regulation at this price point.
I like the larger case size Jody. It's a beauty but definitely out of my range price wise. Glad you were able to enjoy it on your holiday! Great video as always Jody...
In the past 3 years, Oris has tried to move upmarket by means of an Oris in house movement. I never saw the appeal and always liked this watch. I've just bought one on eBay used and I just hope I actually get it. Very good video, thanks.
I just bought one of these yesterday for my birthday! I love it :) I live in Cairns so I thought it would be appropriate considering they are donating some of the funds to my back yard!
I recently bought an SNK809K1 in addition to the SNK803 I already had. The SNK803 is about +11 s/d since I got it, and the SNK809 was about -11 s/d now. I got out my tools and the timegrapher, opened the back, and adjusted the lever. Which took me A WHOLE HOUR until I got it right. Using a matchstick to push on the lever, using a 5x loupe, when you SEE the lever moving you have already adjusted it too much! It's a matter of a 1/100th of a millimeter. Anyway, adjusting, timegrapher, adjusting, timegrapher, and after an hour I had it set to +5 s/d. However, for some reason the beat error went up from 0.7 ms to 5 ms, and I did definitely NOT touch the wrong lever! I decided to wait and see if that has any noticeable effect on the deviation - and it hasn't. So I decided to leave THAT adjustment lever alone. My point is - even a 7S26 movement can be nearly as accurate as a certified chronometer - with only very little adjustment. I'd say it's worth to give it a try yourself.
I have a low level nh36 on my Islander watch and believe it or not, on my wrist and daily usage it is wrong by less than a second the past two days (received it two days ago). It's just a lottery. If some people are hitting +10 seconds, some are hitting +1 and +2....... On the contrary a also received an Orient Triton and on the internet from what I've read people got between +2 and +5sec a day......mine is +8sec a day (still acceptable and since it's a diver, I don't wanna open it to get better accuracy).
There are definitely lots of leather options aside from Oris itself. They might not be as easy to buy as a standard lug width strap, but pretty much anyone that makes custom leather straps can make one that fits an Aquis. UdolLeather for example on Etsy makes gorgeous looking Aquis compatible straps.
Thanks for the comment and sub to my poor channel Jody , I’m amazed you read comments , normally someone who has a few thousand subscribers hasn’t got the time to reply to many many , or even read ,, Happy Christmas to you and yours Shane uk 🇬🇧
I wish they had this particular model in the 39.5mm size. The oris aquis line of watches are gorgeous watches. I look forward to getting one in my collection some day.
I just got it for Christmas. I actually have it in hand.. will size it and wear it once it’s Christmas. To be honnest the colour isn’t as beautiful as I thought.. but it’s winter..
I’m just wondering if we really have the same colour mine looks a bit greener in the scales of blue.. i keep comparing, i have it in one hand the phone in the other.
It is very pretty, like it more than the Seamaster to be honest. It was going for 25% off in an Australian jewellery store last year so you can get good discounts on Oris.
Great review and thanks for the info. I’ve been looking at this but I don’t know if I can’t get over the size. Especially since I’d likely buy without trying first.
I love it. I can't afford it right now but I really like the Oris Brand. Usually, most of their watches are from 1000 to 2000 dollars a watch in US dollars. Some are more I know this, but this one just checks so many boxes as well as a really nice bracelet. I did not realize it was integrated. The dial is amazing. I love the second hand being separate. The lume is amazing too. I am not used to 43mm perhaps a smaller model will work better.
@mark london Mark Could you please provide a link to it? I am looking at aquis in my search but not finding the right one. I noticed Jomashop has many modes under the name Aquis. Many under 1000 US dollars.
It is just beautiful, and I would love looking down and seeing it on a grey day in the office! Yeah, e pensive, but it’s Swiss; they are all over priced. Six grand for a three hand Explorer? I love the detail. I think the argue with t that it should be regulated better is reasonable. But a beauty.
Very nice watch. Interesting people's reaction to the price in the comments. Some thinking bang for the buck others saying overpriced. The accuracy however is unacceptable. At that price+7-7 a day. Cheers
Hard to do the colour of this watch real justice on a video, it really needs to be seen in the flesh. But all the standard aquis look brilliant in the sun. Oris does a good job with their colours. But for the extra money, it's probably only for those that like to collect limited editions. Great review as always Jody 👍
I much prefer the Divers 65 but this is the best Aquis money can buy with that stunning dial. It's a bit busy but fairly well balanced in my opinion. Cheers!
Must say that watch looked fabulous on your wrist! Your vacation must have done wonders for you. You appear taller, younger and fitter. All determined by those splendid wrist shots. Featuring my favorite diver under $1,500(US), the 46mm Oris.
Poor old bognor regis! another interesting & great review. I quite like Oris and own a Williams F1. But yes rather expensive this LE model. Hard to say whether my next Oris will be a pro pilot or an aquis though, if only I could afford both!!
Great, in depth and objective review (despite the fact I know you’re a big fan). Full marks to Oris for aesthetics but there’s no getting away from the fact that putting an unregulated, $150 movement in a $2,500 watch is a massive p*ss take. I’m not quite sure why so many WISs who drink the Oris Kool Aid harp on about Oris being great value: Imo they’re not.
Alan Naranjo Yes good point. I can’t comment on the finishing on this Oris but it looks very nice. However I was underwhelmed with the finishing of the printed dial version of the Divers 65 when i saw it at an AD. I feel Longines offer more for your money than Oris with their movements with the ETA 2892 base such as the hydroquest or the Master collection. However not a fan of the hydroquest dial at all and Oris certainly has a good design team.
The movement side of watches is something I’m not very well versed in, and I’m struggling to see why you find this Sellita movement so spectacular at +11s/d while Seiko movements in significantly cheaper watches can come in under +/-5. Can someone help me out with this?
The watch world is full of beautiful watches, most with shortcomings somewhere, and it all boils down to what turns your crank. This doesn’t turn my crank and there are a lot less expensive watches that do.
Oris , Breitling ? or Zenith, Sinn ? Over 500€ its a little investment if u not want 30% down just living the shop. ( i add Zenith, Sinn After Jodi's reply )
$2500 for an SW200? Whew-wee! That's a load of lettuce for a pretty face. For that, you could get a Steiny and/or a Squale with an SW200, and still have some left for a a nice roll in the hay with a Gineault or another nice watch. Jeepers!
very nice watch love the blue... what puts me off is the accuracy would like it better that 14 sec and the integrated bracelet is a no no for me cheers
@jeppemichael Hi , to be honest I had that thought when I said it, I have about 15 divers at least from Omega to Vostok and I don't dive. Though I do a lot of water sports so not all bad 😁
@@TopSecretVid I think you are right! Many micro brands come and go. I'd rather put my money into one watch made by a respected manufacturer that has been in business for a very long time rather than a bunch of micro brands with $50 Seiko movements and cases made in China.
Charlie Doyle I have tons of micro brands more than I can even wear in a month I regret some of them I wish I would’ve save my money and bought stuff like this
slim wrist guys cry in envy here. great watch, most amazing dial and I love how they replaced a date window with this but the size is way to big for my slim wrist.
I feel like the fact that the movement is moving so fast is down to the fact that this one is a loaner and perhaps wasn’t regulated to the same standards as normal retail models. I own a green aquis and a chronoris and both run within +4 seconds a day
Tried the Aquis's on in Bond Street the 39.5 clean ocean was beautiful but too small it looks tiny on and the 43.5 is a smidge too large. 40-42mm I'd say this is their or at least my sweet spot. So when you get the pair to compare my money would be on the larger of the two being your preference. As an Oris fan boy with a diver 65 and a big crown pointer date. Love to see you review the pro pilot reno or the base pro pilot (40mm black) as I need just one more watch.... awesome content as usual thanks Jody
Just got a black dial one for Christmas, its gorgeous!! It should not look as good as it does at 43.5mil but its amazing! Iv a 7.5 wrist and its perfect
My Seiko SKX is around +2 and when I set it down when I sleep it goes around -2 so I haven’t had to reset the time in three months and it’s still keeping time I don’t know how I did it the watch is only £250
Ilestun Agree. Oris is massively hyped-up in the watch community as this amazing bang for buck and underrated brand, however when you look at the specs of watches like the Mido you mentioned- with the COSC and WR - and it’s quality and nice looks as well as the relative value of other brands like Longines I question whether the hype is justified.....
Great watches I own a Oris Aquis small hand. The movement is not reliable it has required service . I hope Oris goes back to ETA movements SW movement not good . Thanks for content .
I tried the Clean Ocean at a local store recently and loved it, great colour. However the integrated bracelet is a major turn off for me with Oris which is why they'll never get my business
Usually 1 Oris = 4 Tissot or 4 Steinhart . So 5 for a limited édition . I think better to choose a watch who not down 30% when you just leaving the shop ! . Same with Tudor & Omega on gray market . Any others trade mark suggestions ? ... Sinn ? Zenith ?
@@augustinf . Are you sure ? 1850 for a 2000 € one or 1850 / 2500 ? 😉 you are right, i was in a big shop in Paris weeks ago, the official seller ask me about discount after 5 minutes ( for the green one ) 🐸. I'm not talking about Rolex value but even at that Price i have to consider thé watch as an little investment more than a €500 daily watch

Just One More Watch Good point! I’m not so good at negotiating, although I did knock £20 off a new Seiko cocktail time from a Scottish AD this year!
It looks beautiful in this color
Buy what you love! But make sure you get a hefty discount on either, or buy lightly used. Cheers!
@@JustOneMoreWatch . I love twice but with many trade mark you Lost 30% easy
$2500 for an SW200? Whew-wee! That's a load of lettuce for a pretty face. For that, you could get a Steiny and/or a Squale with an SW200, and still have some left for a a nice roll in the hay with a Gineault or another nice watch. Jeepers!
Oris has to employ designers. The companies you mentioned just copy Rolex. There is your price difference + beeing a LE.
very nice watch love the blue... what puts me off is the accuracy would like it better that 14 sec and the integrated bracelet is a no no for me cheers
Jody , did I hear you right you can’t really swim but have a load of diver watches😳😳
@jeppemichael Hi , to be honest I had that thought when I said it, I have about 15 divers at least from Omega to Vostok and I don't dive. Though I do a lot of water sports so not all bad 😁
Love pretty much everything Oris puts out.
I could buy a ton of micro brands for the price of that Oris. Gorgeous watch, though.
Merry Christmas!!!
Charlie Doyle most micro brands won’t last 10 years..here today gone tomorrow.
TopSecretVid
Hmmmmm....not sure I agree with that statement.
@@TopSecretVid I think you are right! Many micro brands come and go. I'd rather put my money into one watch made by a respected manufacturer that has been in business for a very long time rather than a bunch of micro brands with $50 Seiko movements and cases made in China.
Charlie Doyle I have tons of micro brands more than I can even wear in a month I regret some of them I wish I would’ve save my money and bought stuff like this
I have an Aquis, BC pointer date and a BC3. You can’t do much better than Oris In the 1k-3.5k zone, except for Tudor. Beautiful watches.
I would still choose longine at this price range.
slim wrist guys cry in envy here. great watch, most amazing dial and I love how they replaced a date window with this but the size is way to big for my slim wrist.
It is gorgeous - no question. It just doesn’t seem worth the price.
yeah, that's how I feel about all oris. I mean, I'd pay about 500 bucks US for one of those, not TWO THOUSAND!
@L.K Agreed, which gives it extremely stiff competition.
@@rre9121 500. Haha. Ok guy.
"Moving with a degree of stillness" Good one!
Sometimes I surprise myself...... Cheers mate!
Hahaha the Bognor Regis comment got me there. Great videos 🙂
Pricey but worth it ... absolutely stunning looking.
Anyone else think Jody is hoping Oris forget about the watch so he can keep it ? 😂
Love the dial on this Oris!
I feel like the fact that the movement is moving so fast is down to the fact that this one is a loaner and perhaps wasn’t regulated to the same standards as normal retail models. I own a green aquis and a chronoris and both run within +4 seconds a day
Splendid design!
Yeah, maybe a head to head to head for early 2020. Cheers mate 6
I hope you'll be reviewing the C8173G. Looks like another great watch from Cadisen.
The Oris Skydweller. ...I like it
Hats off to Oris, it's a beautiful watch. A little too steep in price and way too big for my wrist. I'll pass on this one.
Just got a black dial one for Christmas, its gorgeous!! It should not look as good as it does at 43.5mil but its amazing! Iv a 7.5 wrist and its perfect
Beautiful piece.
Not loving that accuracy - Oris £2000 = +11 Sec, Tissot PR100 +6 and COSC certified for £800.
My Seiko SKX is around +2 and when I set it down when I sleep it goes around -2 so I haven’t had to reset the time in three months and it’s still keeping time I don’t know how I did it the watch is only £250
I’m so annoyed I had a chance to buy the pr100 for €300 on jomashop
My GBR3 is +6 sec per day)
Mido star ocean diver 600 : COSC, diver certified, 600m WR, ceramic bezel, gorgeous : 1.5k
Forget about Oris.
Too big for me but I think this could be one of the few blue dials I actually like. Have to see in person to say for sure
AliExpress have started doing aquis rubber straps that look pretty good
Love it! Jody, where's the OR2 review? Looking forward to it! Happy holidays good sir
Hey,
Would love to see a comparison between Oris aquis vs Longines hydroconquest.
Cheers, keep up with the great content.
2 1/2 grand pretty expensive for me but let me tell you something I like this watch 😍
Yep, pretty but overpriced. I'll stick with my Christopher Ward C65 diver 😘
Have a good Xmas & stay safe with the heat and Bush fires.
I would love to get myself an Oris there nice watches
Stellar video, love the watch
I love this watch but I just can't afford it. Thanks, Jody!
Nice colorway, try review the green one i really wanna see that
Just one more watch hopes Oris Australia forgets where this watch went lol. Cheers stay in Smokey.
I love the Aquis clean ocean, but I think Oris is to expensive for what they offer. Cheers Oni
Great watches I own a Oris Aquis small hand.
The movement is not reliable it has required service . I hope Oris goes back to ETA movements SW movement not good .
Thanks for content .
Looks like the dash of a 2012 Honda Fit!
Any chance you’ll be getting the DateJust homage that Ali Express has for review?
Hi,
Could you do the latest oris hangang Ltd edition that just released.
It's a green dial with the same layout as this.
Cheers.
Any others trade mark suggestions ? ... Sinn ? Zenith ?
FR0G the FRENCH i bought mine for 1850€ and I’m pretty sure i won’t be losing money whenever i ever decide to sell it
@@augustinf .
I'm watching this video in Changi Airport next to the watch shop that has Oris. My wallet is burning a hole in my pocket right now!
I don't understand oris aquis sizes. Just tried on the 39mm and the 43mm. If they made a 41mm I would have bought one.
Nice but I would buy the regular Aquia and save the cash
Love the AC T shirt :-)
Could do without the yellow triangle.. the date indicator is alright though. The yellows don't match😬
💙Yr videos Jody, but you know this✔️ cheers mate.🍻
Jody I really enjoy the videos. I’m thinking of buying a Deep Blue master 1000, I was wondering if you’ve any plans to do a review on the brand. 🤓
Regards mate.
I love the look of this watch but is high on my price range. Would also be nice if you could put it on a NATO strap. Guess I'll continue my search for the perfect watch... lol😜
Did it teach you how to swim finally Jody? Big fan of the Oris line of divers Jody, hard to beat ad far as value for money for what you get...love them & a great review.
Would like to get your take on the green Aquis.
