Jason Pearce hey man I was looking into buying it cuz I’m pretty set on the bike despite some bad reviews I’ve also seen a lot of good. Just wondering what kind of riding I do on it and what the bike excels at?
YES! Same here, I have it too. Except too keep it up to date with 2022 I upgraded the time to roval control carbon rims and a sram X01 drivetrain and I still love it 😍
I'm interested to see what Specialized dose with the newly released SRAM Eagle GX. Ibis and Santa Cruz are offering their Ripley LS and Tallboy with it for under $4800 USD while Specialized this year was charging $5000 USD for essentially the same specs as above but with a Fox 34. And the 2018 Epic FS with GX Eagle is going for $5300 USD. If were in the market for a shorter travel 29er I'm not sure I'd pay $500 extra for the SWAT System and a lesser warranty, assuming Specialized keeps their price points pretty similar across bike models with similar specs, which they have done in the past.
so this one you are reviewing is the 2017 model, right? As the one shown in the video has the 2017 color. I don't get why the review is posted in June 22, 2017, when the 2018 model, different colors, is already out. Im confused.
How come Specialized keep sending you the Camber every year and not the Stumpy? Not a dig just wondering as the Stumpy used to get great reviews from you a few years back.
There's lots of hate I guess towards specialized? ..... I just bought the new camber comp with 27.5 wheels, I really like it, I love the shocks, brakes, and gear set, shifts ultra smooth too, and with only 1 Front gear I think it's percect.
Wow. they ripped it apart. I'm glad I ordered the Commencal Meta TR v4.2 Essential. My local bike shop was pushing the 650b model of this bike in a non-carbon (650b Camber Comp) for $2,500 USD, and it comes with NX 11-42 set, 30t Front ring, No Dropper post, it weighed over 30lbs, had a crappy fork, no Boost, and old school geometry. Commencal Meta TR v4.2 was $2,899 with all the spec you want GX 10-42 set, 32T front ring, Pike RC fork, Dropper post, Under 30lbs, Boost spacing, modern Geometry, and a 130/140 Rear/Front suspension. Bike shops near me are but hurt because Direct sales bikes are taking their business and now we see why, companies like Trek and Specialized are producing mediocre bikes for excessive pricing. Even the lower priced Origin model of the Commencal has a better spec than the Camber Comp and it only costs $2,099 Specialized is a Joke this year
Visited my LBS today, they have the 2017 carbon camber both 29 and 27.5 large for $2500 including tax OTD. Sounds like a great deal to me 🤔. I might pull the trigger on the 29.
Vitus and Nukeproof are both in-house brands of Chain Reaction Cycles and both have been successful in EWS competition, with generally very positive reviews on top of that, so you can be pretty confident that any of their bikes will ride pretty well. The geo between the alloy and carbon models is the same too, so ride feel might change a bit, but the higher-end reviews would be reasonably indicative of the cheaper bikes' characteristics. Being direct sales, the componentry will be above-average for brands like Specialized and Trek too, so you'd probably have to look to Canyon and other direct sales brands for similar value.
i have the expert version. sometimes you cant improve on perfection. boost....meh.... new school geometry.....very subjective. my go to bike for every day.....and i have heaps of good bikes. (banshee, transition patrol carbon)
Specialized has the worst value in the industry. Even their $10,000 S-Works models leave some components to be desired (Ex. Guide RS Brakes), which is unacceptable, especially given the fact that they slap house-brand components everywhere.
why would one decide to by a specialized or giant when you can buy a canyon or yt for the same spec for 500 pounds less. the only bike shop brand i would buy would be santa cruz or trek
It's a good bike, but it is overpriced and a bit disappointing when you compared it to other semi-trail bikes. It's just a beefed up version of the epic, so the Stumpjumper is a much better choice since it can climb as well as the Camber.
If we take your statement as your opinion on Trail bike of the year you would hate the Canyon, favor the Scott, and the Commencal is a burly manly man. Canyon is awesome though and soon to be in the USA
I have a 2017 Camber comp...I love it. Everything I need in one package. Its reliable, nimble, fast and looks great.
Jason Pearce ..its all that counts..boutique bike riding snobs love to pick it apart...

Is the 27.5 the same except for the wheels ofc

Can anyone tell me if the Vitus Sommet is a good value? I haven't seen many reviews
Have you tried googling it? There are loads of reviews out there on Dirt Mag, BikeRadar, Enduro MTB, MBR, etc
SmevMev I have. A lot of those reviews are for the higher end versions off the sommet.
