Modesty Blaise is timeless. Agree, she has much more personality than Bond. Her relationship with Willie Garvin is fascinating and possibly unique in literature. I recommend the novels, also written by O'Donnell. He wrote a final short story after he did the strip. It's one of the most moving stories I've ever read. The name of the collection is The Cobra Trap. Highly recommend it and the novels. Happy New Year:)
Happ New Year! I'm always envious that we don't get many of these European books in English. I'll be looking for that old surehand book for instance and more Walter Neugebauer books. It's right up my alley.
"Torpedo" looks like a fun read, and the French omnibus is not very expensive (35€ for 640 pages). Thank you very much for the recommendation. By the way the original title of Der Vagabund der Unendlichkeit is "Le Vagabond des Limbes" (The Vagabond Of Limbo). Published for the first time in the French magazine "Circus", in 1975.
I need more Torpedo! Only one album available in Finnish and English version from Ablaze has(I belive) only new stories where the main character is old. I’m very tempted to get that German edition. I never got into Modesty Blaise as a kid but should take a closer look now as a gray human relic. I’ve found myself liking stuff I didn’t like before now that I’m older. Nemesis is also in my shopping list. Looks suitably over the top
"suitably over the top" you're hitting the nail right on the head, my gray human relic youtube friend :) and even better: the softcover edition of Nemesis looks almost similarily awesome. As for Modesty Blaise I think it's important to know about her "origin story" which is reprinted right in the beginning of the German editions. Just a few pages, that I could not read without tearing up... gives her character an incredible depth that will stay with you for the whole series.
Though one may think Walter Neugebauer was a German artist, he was actually Croatian, born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, only later that he moved to Germany to work there....Winetou books were big in Croatia (my collection got completely ruined by flood water), films were shot here as well...
yes, of course, I forgot to mention that. He was hired by the German comic magazine Fix&Foxi... but he had done Karl May adaptations before, which are included in the new collections for a good part.
Good to see you back in the saddle Monsieur! My son and I are reading prog 220 today, did you ever make Tharg's letter page? Hope all is Zarjaz with you!
Microphone Suggestion: Try the ATH-M50xSTS-USB headset. Podcastage has a demo on "Audio Technica ATH-M50xSTS Review / Test (vs. AT2020, BPHS1, BPHS2, U87)" starting at 11mins 44secs.
thank you, your heads up is much appreciated... but this was actually the penultimate video I shot with my Samsung S3 (yeah, almost museums-worthy :) ). As you will see and hopefully hear, video- and soundquality will improve considerably in panellogy 547.
no headsets or seperate mics, for the next time being I'll record stuff with my new Pixel 7a - works allright for me so far. I've tested on my "Örls Waschmaschine".
@@earlgrey862 Ah if you do go upgrading along the smartphone route, try the Godox Cube-S. Demo: Gemini Connect "Best MINI Budget Wireless Mic? DJI Mic Mini vs Hollyland Lark M2 vs Rode Wireless Micro vs Godox" starting at 11mins 06secs.
I think "unendlichkeit" translates as "infinity" not "eternity". Well, technically it translates as "without limit", "endless" or maybe "boundless"? But definitely not "eternity". EDIT. In a world where Requiem Vampire Knight and Sha exist you go for Slain? Come on graf grau.
Always so grateful for your videos.
Very cool!
Thanks for this u r the best. We missed u

happy new year... and in the next video there will be a lot more Euro-comics-stuff for you, I suppose
@@earlgrey862 more envy I guess 😁
Modesty Blaise is excellent material. I have a few of the old Titan paperback releases. Glad to hear those comics getting some appreciation!

Nemesis restarts at prog 222!
yeah, everything's very Zarjaz here, thanks and nope I never have written a letter to any comic magazine... at least I can't remember.
