  • Alhaji Sani Zangon Daura’s career spanned from the days of the Northern Regional Service where he was an assistant district officer to the North Central State, as a commissioner in the military administration of Brigadier-General Abba Kyari (1968-75).
During the Second Republic, he was one of the founders of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) and in the Third Republic, under the government of Olusegun Obasanjo, he was Minister of Agriculture and Environment.
In this interview conducted by Trust TV, he takes us back to his youthful days, as a student in the university of Lagos, to the role he played as an unofficial adviser in the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Very interesing, insightful and grand interviws. Mr. Kabir is documenting the history, travails, successes and victories of the North through the reminiscence programme. Years to come, the younger generation will regugitate on these interviews. We are grateful for archiving all their knowledge, experience and exposure. In some places, you rushed the elder statesman like the 66 coup, second republic political permutations, Katsina- Daura old age rivalry, his role in Obj's govt and how he viewed Obasanko as an ethnic character. I believe one interview wont capture all his life, but a glimpse will surfice.

Let the North-west and the North-east merge to become the Islamic Republic of Northern Nigeria. Please mobilise lawmakers from your regions to present the agenda to the Senate for Nigeria to have a referendum. Also, contact the Hausa/Fulani Consultative Forum aka Arewa Consultative Forum for their input. I know a majority of people from the South and Middle Belt will vote yes in support.
The Angola war lasted for 27 years. The Sudan war may last for 50 years. The same thing will happen to the new nation when you are denied access to oil money.

Its only a fool or an old man like this, that would think that the North breaking out of Nigeria would survive on its own... Currently as we speak the Northern governors are the worst performing in Nigeria. You have highest Level of poverty, hunger, illiteracy and insecurity... So can someone help in making this idea of his make sense... Northern Elites don't even care and sympathy for their. Look at Buhari for example a former military head of state who became president didn't even do anything for the people of Katsina, which is one of the hot beds of Banditry and insecurity. May God help you Northerners.

He made his money thru government contracts. That’s same with 95% of Northern elite.

Which north are you talking about about? The tricks you Fulani s are using in the north can never work again. Middle belt will never ever align with you. Where ever the south goes, middle belt will go or stay on their own. The game has started

Look, you are free to go wherever you want to go, if you like, go and align with Israel, we really don't care neither will we care, every human being created by God will survive irrespective of geographical location, we don't need you, you don't need us. But we the Northerners are starting to call for a peaceful parting with our Southern counterparts and as the Elder Man said, all should go and develop according to their forms and formats. If you want your Middle belt or whatever it is you call it, wait until the time comes then you can ask to go your own way, it's not a fight, after all, we will all die and leave this Earth.

@@aliabdullahi5002Thank God people like you still exists in the Northern part. The call for division is long overdue. Separation is the answer to all these atrocities going on in this country. Those people called themselves elders have failed humanity as far as this country is concerned. I pray God Almighty will come through for us soonest.

@@benengene9023 Don't celebrate too early. Division might not be the only solution. A criminal is a criminal no matter the geographic area he/she is operating in. When the country is divided, that won't end the security or criminality, it will only make the criminals readjust or realign their criminality to their respective regions. My reasons for division might not be the same with your own reason for division and I know that my own reason does not tend to solve the issue of criminality because criminality will always be there, even in your own locality where you have only your tribe or religion, you still have a set that are criminal-minded. So it will be non-logical to think dividing the country will solve insecurity, don't even be surprised if it increases it.

Nigeria is already divided. No other form of legal or constitutional creation can divide us further than ethnicity and religion have done so far. For convenience sake, let’s just believe we have been divided into 36 states. Let’s go back home to our state governments and make demands. One Nigeria forever, non negotiable!
