These and other sentences you are telling yourself is the reason why you constantly feel exhausted, tired, and burned out. I am embracing naps as a form of self care. They’re free, they make me happy, and my cats think it’s about time I figured this out, they’ve been modeling good behavior for years.
(I just got that oracle deck a few weeks ago, and how wonderful is it?!?! I liked it so much I bought the Ostara one, too.)
Naps are amazing!!! And sleep is so important for the body ✨️ haha I bought the ostara one too 😅 I now have all of them
I deleted the Facebook and Instagram apps from my phone. I also don't check the news anymore, because it's just too stressful. I read books, organize social events with friends, and go to bed early so I can wake up with the sun and exercise first thing. It's made a huge difference.
That sounds like a great gameplan to gain some sanity, peace of mind and heart back ❤

My favorite self care is sitting outside in the backyard reading a book.
Oh that sounds lovely! I am more of an audiobook girlie but love to listen to one while outside in the garden too 😄

5:28 Being unable to afford healthcare to do self-care is the main issue I think. I consider self-care as being able to actually (like plants and pets) take care of ourselves. no spa day retreat, just finally being able to visit a dentist. 😞
1000% - or even less expensive and time-consuming: Taking 10 deep breaths or going for a walk 🫶
It's helpful that you make it clear that there is a difference between self care and indulgence and that self care can be unpleasant.

I have come to the point of just saying no, to myself or others. Some days I simply don't have the energy or desire to do things.

Please also be aware that once you take your hiatus and begin to recover, if you go back to doing the same things afterwards, you will end up in the same burnout that you did before.
@@jessicam9625 You're absolutely right! I'm also looking for a new job. I've white knuckled my way through four years at my current job and it hasn't been good for me.
I have been putting off self-care for so long. Then when I get sick or run down, I feel guilty for having to call out from work or just sitting down doing nothing. I'm going to take time to heal both body and mind. It's sad that it takes a complete stranger clear across the world to bring this to my attention, smh. Thank you , sister, for reminding us😂❤

Self care can be wonderfully self indulgent, like a guilty pleasure.i swim on my lunch hour. I don't think about anything at work, and I go back to my office calm, feeling like I just had a vacation.

I so agree that self care isn't some luxurious, expensive thing in the future. It's not eating that whole chocolate bar or visiting with that person that makes you feel bad about yourself. It's making a meal that nourishes your body. Having that cup of tea. Doing some physical activity that makes your body feel good. Reading a book, listening to a podcast, watching great UA-cam content 💚 Literally just taking care of yourself in ways that feel good!
Society sells us an image of what self care is, that isn't real, so they can profit from us.. unfortunately. People who are content are harder to sell to.

Great reminders & thoughts on this. I didn’t prioritize self care until it became a matter of absolute. This is a lesson that can be hard to learn, but as a cancer survivor I cannot emphasize how deeply important it is. We eat away at our health when we don’t. Time to thrive. The workshop sounds beautiful too! Thank you for always sharing such beautiful, heart felt, and inspiring videos.
As someone that has gone through such a challenge I am sure you throughly have understood the importance. Of course it would be lovely of we could learn those lessons without having to have such shocking wake up calls ❤
I hang out with people that make me smile and laugh, I do one of my many hobbies and I find something to learn. I keep my mind creatively and logically nurtured!
Sometimes though, I get so busy doing those things I run myself into the ground. Still learning balance!

Just what I needed today. I'm dealing with an upcoming change in my work schedule. It's needed for me to progress even though it is causing me tremendous stress and anxiety. I took the time today to talk it over with my developmental counselor. She helped me in so many ways. This video and your calming voice helped me to relax to the point of having trouble staying awake to write this comment.

Thank you so much for this wholesome, encouraging video. I really needed it. I'm going to take your suggestion to write lists of what replenishes me, and what robs me of time and energy. I think off the top of my head, one of the key things that replenishes me is the act of artistic creation and expression. Right now, I'm in a place where I'm feeling motivated and empowered, so I'm going to spend some time thinking of routines I can incorporate more regularly, and develop a few personal rituals that are low-effort so on days when I don't have as vigorous a fire in my hearth I can still tend to my needs and care for myself.

Was just commenting a similar type thing on Facebook when as how an path can let go. Empaths are like sponges. Absorbing. Often way too much. However, a sponge can be wrung out to release excess unneeded energy just like with a sponge releasing water when squeezed. I've been working on casting off societal expectations of me. I have Fibromyalgia amongst other things and will never again be able to be productive like it's said I should be. One of the kindest things a person can do for themselves is make time to take care of themselves. Sometimes we can share them with others and create an even greater healing for everyone involved 😊
Cleaning my home is a huge pain for me! Even though the satisfaction afterwards also brings me peace of mind, it's not enough to get me started. So, cleaning time is now also my burning-essential-oils time. It makes me feel like I'm also clearing the air of everything that happened in my life during the week, so that I have a calmer mental and emotional space from which to start a new week.
I am working on exercising more often, especially going for a run or going to the climbing gym. Most days it's hard to feel motivated to get myself moving, especially if it means I have to leave the house (I work from home). But I never ever regret when I actually get out and run outside in nature or push myself a little at the climbing gym (I have a fear of heights). Even on days when I'm not feeling my best before, I always always feel better after, physically and mentally. I feel more capable and confident, like I can actually do what I set out to do! It's such a confidence booster for someone who struggles with that.
Might sound contra-intuitive but have done a couple of chores, then picked up my tarot study book. It's been a crap time lately and spiritual things have been a little neglected! Thank you for the video :) BB xxx

It's really hard living with toxic people and not having enough money to get out. I stay away as much as possible. It would be lovely to relax at home. Not going to happen, ever.

I try to make the first thing I do when I get to work be making myself tea. Yes I'm at work, but I still come first. If I don't take care of me I can't do my job effectively. On the weekend it's putting away laundry. I hate putting away laundry, but I hate even more having my laundry a mess when I trying to get dressed & leave for work. All 5 mornings of the week are much easier when I put my laundry away during the weekend. So I put on some music or similar to help me get through folding & hanging the clothes.
needed this. after a very turbulent three years (mom got cancer and ive been her caretaker my whole life, sibling moving back home, family trouble, car crash just last month that left injuries, just to name a few) i really have started to finally prioritize myself no matter what. its as radical as rebellion to me and as important as one. thank you for all your videos. during yule i clung to them for my holiday spirit! and now i use them as tools for my own betterment.
I just made myself some hot chocolate and whipped some cream for the top!

Selfcare for me is watching my free-range hens and rooster or going for a walk in the forest or by the lake. In the evening, when my 3 children are in bed, I take a shower or read or do yoga 😊❤️
Chickens staring is the best selfcare 🤣 we will be adding to our flock next week when the weather gets a bit warmer haha

Self care for me right now is gaming. I should be reading or working on my practice but I spend hours in front of the tv playing video games. I need to get better with this. I have tried not being on social media as much as the news is nothing but gross. Video games are my escape.
I feel video games can definitely be a form of selfcare - as long as they don't become a patch that is actually harming instead of helping in the long term 😊

I wanna share something I love to do, an energy generator, In hope whoever reads this will try these out. There is a video called "Solar System through my telescope" Made by J.W. astronomy. They made a stunning video. Just gazing at planets from a telescope, Marveling at how far they are, how amazing and how beautiful. The music makes it even more awesome. I think you would like it.
