The Sig Cross is on my soon to purchase list. And this is the model I would choose, the 16" lightweight 308 version, I really like the cerakote job also.
they just came out with the sig cross trax, so new there's no reviews of it yet
Try this run again with the full length top rail. Loading the bipod will push the scope around due to the weakness of the factory short scope rail. Same issue happened on the Q Fix
Weakness of the factory rail? Is this a real thing or are you making it up? ;-) Are you suggesting that the Sig Cross STX is more accurate because of it's full length top rail?
I used 168gr Nosler match grade HPBT and sadly could not hit 1000meters. We determined the rounds were losing stability crossing the trans sonic barrier. Calculations said it would cross that line at around 730meters, which explains why to 700m it was a tack driver, but past that the groupings opened up significantly. Also started to open up after about 7 rounds too due to heat. Definitely a hunting rifle!
And at the same time using federal XM80C 7.62 surplus I was able to hit 1000m consistently once dialed in (and this round was grouping 1/3" at 100m)
Definitely a great gun, I have mine paired with a Nightforce SHV 4-14x optic.
A few questions for you. Did you have the rev stop in the scope? Did you have a20 MOA rings? Were you able to adjust your turrets to 1000 yards or did you have to hold over as well? I have the sig cross in .308 and have been looking at the razor HD LHT 4.5-22x50 the same scope you used here. Thanks
308 is not a distance round. It's a power round. Hitting past 500 is already a feat on its own. If you want accuracy, go NATO for lighter weight allowing greater velocity
This is misinformation. The max pressure for 308 is 62,000 PSI; 2,000 PSI higher than 7.62×51 NATO, at 60,000. And higher grain bullets are better for distance than lower grain bullets of the same cartridge with few exceptions. 175gr is the standard for 7.62 sniper rifles in the US military compared to the 150gr round for general, mass issue use in beltfeds etc. 77gr is the standard for long range 5.56, opposed to the 55gr standard. Higher weight means lower velocity and more drop, but gravity is a constant that can be accounted for. Where the heavier bullets excel is wind resistance, which is much harder to adjust for as a shooter.
I don't mean to belittle or talk down, just sharing information
@DJ_Z_2004 I understand the pressure and mass differences. But the max effective is different without wind involved. But 308 is considered a game round that is more often used at distances less than a traditional military rifle Qual range.
@@silvernblue911 We may be coming at this from different perspectives. In a hunting context, 308/762 NATO are generally 500m and in cartridges. From a military perspective, a quick Google search confirms the stated max effective range for 308 or 7.62 is between 800 and 1,000m depending on your source. I've seen people hit out past 1,000 with 308; the channel 9 hole reviews has some great videos with their shooter Henry, who's an incredible shot. I myself have shot 308 to 800m with my R700 5R, 20" bull barrel
@DJ_Z_2004 well on paper, 22LR can hit several hundred meters out. But the effectiveness of the caliber limits it to about a football field. It's the old adage, "just cause it can, doesn't mean it should." That's why you don't see people using 450 bushmaster as a sniper round. That's why the MK12 and M17 are NATO only platforms because game rounds aren't suitable for effective distance better than it's lighter counterpart.
@@silvernblue911 That may be depending on the shooter, but I guess my main point was that going from 308 to 7.62 NATO wouldn't make a noticable difference in long range shooting like you said, or any shooting at all really. They shoot the same caliber and weight bullet with the same ballistic coefficient at very similar velocities out of the same rifles. The only difference as you stated was the purpose for their development, 308 primarily being hunting as the civillian version of a military round.
5.56 was originally a varmint cartridge, but we found out it works pretty well at dropping terrorists out to 400m too. It doesn't matter what the intent of the round was for if it performs at a particular task.
SWAT/gov snipers have been using 168gr HPBT Sierra 308's for a long time, and they don't seem to have any complaints
PSA Sabre!
Any chance of doing a video on an Sig Cross Trax? .308. Also many may not know this has switch barrel capability
mine loves the 175 GMM and the 185 GMM
What was that?
Just to let you know i had to resubcribe to your channel.
So you roll video before sighting the gun? Lots of wasted time.
I still wonder if a gas gun can get it done?
@@Blvckfvlcon Will do!
We shoot our m110s to 1000 frequently. This guy must have had an off day, or the sig isn't very good.
Hallo...
Anybody know what the max effective range is on this weapon? Ive googled but to no avail!
Really depends on your purpose for " effective " range. Hunting ? I'd keep it within 500 yrds depending on cal. and game for humane reasons. Plinking with. 308 1,000 yrds +/- . 6.5 CM 1,000 - 1,400 yrds those are basic estimates because all the variables will factor. Cartridge, wind, velocity, ect. Hope this helps.
ive never ever seen someone this bad at shooting before , damn lol
smh Some people.... Share your channel with your 1/4" groups.
