  • This has been one of the busiest weeks I've had in a long time! I had somewhere I had to go every day except on Friday. I really don't like weeks like that. I'm a homebody at heart and I do not thrive on busy-ness. So, in this DITL I had a lot to do. This is a chatty vlog, as I had a lot to catch you up on. I also do some cooking, work with Percy on his homework, and share an update on my porch "garden".

Your downstairs family room looks so very nice!! I like the rug that you are interested in for the living room. I think that it would pull the room together and also make it look warm and cozy in the fall and winter.

I use to have an area rug but every time my dogs would throw up or have an accident it was always on the area rug so I ended up getting rid of it. I have carpet runners down now and if they have an accident on those they can easily fit in the washer and hang dry. I looked at the ruggables area rug that can go in the washing machine but there’s a lot of mixed reviews on them and they are expensive.

That's why I'm so conflicted! I like the looks of an area rug, but the dogs might have accidents on it. Right now both dogs are house broken and don't have accidents in the house any more, and neither of them are particularly prone to vomiting. It was out of the question when Sally was still alive as she had accidents in the house all the time. It's not a life or death decision, I'm just not sure. I've looked at those washable rugs. I would be willing to pay a little extra for one, but how would such a large rug fit in my machine? I would think you would have to take it to the laundromat and use an industrial machine. I wouldn't want to be bothered doing that.

Morning Cheryl, you are so blessed to have a basement. That’s one thing I miss. I love the rug you picked out! I have no skill when it comes to decorating but about a year ago my DIL picked out an area rug from HomeGoods for my living room, which is smaller than yours, and I love it. It just pulled the room together and made it cozy. That’s my two cents lol. Have a great weekend.😁

Thank you so much for your opinion! I'm leaning towards getting the rug. I'll give myself a couple more days to decide. LOL I do feel very blessed to have a basement. That is the one thing I insisted on when we put our house up. It had to be on a basement. There have been seasons in my life when I've spent a lot of time in the basement. This just happens to be a "season" with an untrained puppy, that I can't spend much time downstairs. I'm sure that within another year Percy will be dependable enough that I can start spending time downstairs again. I decorated my family room downstairs for Christmas this past holiday season and I spend practically no time down there to enjoy it. I don't want to do that again.

@@CherylsCountryHome I hear ya unfortunately this far south the water table is an issue so I can only reminisce about the basements of my youth lol
Yeah and as far as the dogs go that’s definitely something to consider, I didn’t have to worry about with a mostly outside dog who stays on the tile or his bed, he’s not allowed on any carpet unless he’s invited and he’s pretty good with that restriction :)

I have always liked area rugs 😊they can be very expensive so for a rug that size that price don’t sound bad 😁 family room is so pretty ❤ enjoyed watching 😊❤

Great video. Your salad looked so delicious. I don’t know what to say about the rug in your living room. Your floor is so pretty but it would tie everything together and make it cozy. I really like your flooring. I have carpet in mine and want some new flooring I just dread the process of getting it done. I need new kitchen and hallway also. I have admired your floor a lot when I watch your videos. Have a great day.

Thank you so much! I love my floor too. That's one of the reasons I don't want a rug that will cover the wood flooring entirely. Scott wanted to get an even bigger rug, but I don't want to do that. I just want enough rug to make things look cozy, not to completely cover the wood floor.

I think an area rug would be good there. I agree it's a pain to clean, but if the hubs wants it, I'd try it.

Love it! ❤ Thank you for sharing! I really liked your rug, i think its neutral enough that it wont make the room feel claustrophobic.....im the same way, i need a rug if im going to sit or lie on the floor.
Very sweet kittie ❤ its awful though that you guys have to foot the bills on these kitties that are dumped into your laps....😒 You are good people for doing that! ❤

Organic farming still uses pesticides it’s just different pesticides and chemicals.

I know it's impossible to be completely chemical free, I just think organic has to be at least a little bit better.

It only cost $160 to get a cat spayed at our vet and $260 for a dog under 90 lbs. and $325 for over 90 lbs. And our vet also has a mobile clinic that goes out in our area treating farm animals or pets to sick to be brought in. Like she came out to my brothers house when he had to euthanize his dog so that she was able to go laying her head in his lap while the whole family was loving on her. And then she was able to be buried in the back yard immediately after.

I love this! I wish we had that euthanasia service in our area! And your vet is very economical! You are fortunate.

Half Pint is so cute! I think she's probably not pregnant. I had a cat that did that too and she wasn't pregnant. But if she is, I also agree about it not being right to kill her babies. They are already alive. But hopefully she's not, but I get it.

I would wait until you are pet free and I would get Scott a smaller rug that he could unroll just for himself. Dogs will ruin a nice rug quickly.

Well, we probably won't ever be pet free. LOL I appreciate your opinion and input!
