- Hiya! Hope you enjoyed my first collab as host & I hope you like my Retro Halloween DIY, aka Creep. This guy gave me a run for my money! My intention was to make a small, retro Halloween piece, but my stash was skint on small styrofoam balls & I really didn't want to have to run out to buy some. It's been too hot to trek about unnecessarily...know what I mean? Also, who wants to spend, when there's plenty of supplies at home. All in all, I'm actually glad it worked out the way it did. He's a statement piece with an eerie stare! I have a few more fun, retro Halloween pieces rattling around my brain! I really want to extend my Halloween Circus, that I started last year. So, keep an eye out for that.
I want to thank my superbly talented friend, Annie @IndieAnnieJones1 for cohosting! She & I are on the same creative wavelength & I'm tremendously appreciative of her friendship & support. Monica, I didn't know you had the 'creepy' in ya! I'm so used to your cutie-pie faces! But yes, I've found that the crayola clay cracks too and when you covered it with plastic, I thought hey ,that's the solution! But nooo! It does add character tho, I make houses and one of my first ones was an old European cottage style where I used crayola clay, luckily the cracks added so much more detail to it! Anyway, love your banners and paperwork and of course all that you create!

I have found that painting the foam ball with a mixture of modge lodge and paint helps. I absolutely love him, he’s spooky 👻 vintage. If you apply a matt poly spray it will help. He is freaking adorable. Hugs

Love this!! Question I have tried covering item with clay and it always seems to crack after letting it dry. Any tips on how to avoid this issue?
Hiya, Bettyanne! Thanks so much! I loosel cover my air dry clay with a plastic bag. The clay still cracks, but not as badly. Usually, if the cracking is excessive, I'll fill them in with small amounts of clay. That helps a bit. My clay only seems to crack, if it's covering styrofoam. When it's solid clay, it doesn't really crack. I hope that helps. Truly appreciate your kindness, Bettyanne. Happy Haunting 👻❤🎃

Hiya, Pat! Thank you! The plastic bag helps a wee bit, but it still cracks somewhat, at least the Crayola Air Dry cracks. That’s why I switched to Model Magic. I’ll have to try DAS clay. I understand that’s not as likely to crack. Hope that helps 😉 Happy Sunday ❤️🌞❤️
