thank you. Im new to this field and will start taking classes in Sept. so I'm trying to get ALL the insight that I can so I may be one of the best. Thank you once again for being so clear.

Good video however need to add that if you get an open reading during you ohm test to make sure the compressor is not hot and simply has an open thermal limit.
The compressor have two windings, start and run. Common is connected between these two windings. The common is the path, back and it is where the terminal limit is located just before it. Or other wise terminal over load.
Hello RON, i'm a maintenance tech I am currently working on ROOFTOP UNITS, the videos are great. I do not work with residents I am in a commercial industrial field, my question to you is WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART ABOUT HVAC OTHER THAN SAFETY, SCHEMATICS OR TROUBLESHOOTING??So I can focus more on 1 at a time.
Great video. Like many people I want to a Hvac technician, I already have my training and my 609, but there is a problem, I can't open a business because I need a contractor license, and for that I need at least 4 years of experience; so at this moment everything Is just a waste of time and money .
well, just start with a company and save up. then, when you have enough experience, you will sense when opening a business just comes about naturally. you will be enabled to do it and have the license to do it.
This may be a career I may be interested and I'm going too a trade school so it will have it there but I was wondering , is It difficult too learn this ? I know its not a cake walk but I'm curious .
Common+run is the lowest Common+start second lowest Equalls start run. Highest readind. Only for single phase. 3phase compressors you should get 3equall readings across all terminals
+Michael lupo... If the unit is over 10 years old I would replace it. It is sometimes risky to replace the compressor, or the unit, unless you know the service technician and reputation of the contractor. Ask around from people that have used this contractor and can recommend them. If you do replace the compressor be sure to get a one year parts and labor warranty in writing. A new unit should have a one year labor warranty and a five year compressor warranty.

I'm a female going into the hvac field, im still in high school but i go to a trade school.I plan on going into commercial hvac, but i was wondering.. i heard females get payed less than men in the field. true? or false?
Well I can't answer that question for you. I have worked with a female plumber, she got paid the same as the males. I have over a 1,000 LinkedIn connections. I'll post it there and see what kind of responses I get. Also, check out LinkedIn, there is a Woman in HVAC group. Good for you to venture into the HVAC trade! I am certain you'll be very successful. If you need anything just let me know. Ron
Ron Walker Thank you for the link! i ended up asking my shop teacher since he owns his own HVAC company. He says he only had one woman ever work for him, she was payed the same.. though, was asked to do the easier things around the job site. But i'm definitely going to keep an eye on those Safety Girl items, very cute!
Hershael Washington I was just kidding. HVAC is a great career field and you make great money and are never out of work. Starting an HVAC business is a difficult task, expensive, and many many long hours... but worth it.

Advice is to always study more than what's taught. Videos like these are like GOLD. Watch them constantly while taking classes and even afterwards.

Do all states require 4 years experience before you can get a license?

Thank you, good way to check compressor
Thanks for your great feedback.
Would you not use a proper electrical screw driver
If you had a bad compressor what would you do? would replace it or just get a new unit.

I have been training for over a year and no one ever told me to not trust the disconnect
Yes, I was luck the first time I ran into it.
Hey Raymond... check this out www.hvactrainingsolutions.net/safety-safety-safety/
I thought by code ALL disconnects needed to be fused
In Florida, there is a circuit breaker for over current protection. The disconnects are for the safety of the technician working on the system.
