My sewing machine has always been my most favorite gift.....not my diamond ring or anything else expensive like that. I've made and altered countless things for friends and family over the years and probably saved thousands of dollars.
Absolutely adorable! Yellow is my favorite color and I have French blue and yellow in my kitchen. I am so gonna make the tiered tray and accessories to brighten up the space! Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful talents!!!!

These projects are wonderful. Love the blue gingham with the lemons. 👍🏻 I am 54 miles from Walmart and Dollar Tree. IKEA is further. I do the best I can with what is available. I try to use and reuse what I can in order to keep my expenses down. Love, love, love the lemons. 💙
Mary, I was feeling sorry for myself because my nearest Walmart is 12 miles away, IKEA still farther away, but I have four Dollar Trees to go to. Keep up the use and re-use and carry on!! So much good stuff that can be repurposed. And I love her idea of using a pillow for its stuffing.

I’ve made some of my own clothes, some clothes for my son when he was small, made a prom dress for a friend, a fishing vest for my son, my grandson’s want me to make them something + I altered my daughter-in-laws wedding dress we found at the thrift store for$10!!!

After I watched your video on these dishes last week I literally grabbed my kids, loaded them into the car, and went out to hunt for these! 😍😂 When you see these at your dollar tree you must act FAST because they fly off the shelves! I had to go to several different stores to get all of the pieces I wanted but it was SOOOOO worth it. I’m planning a summer garden party and now I have 16 full table settings! 🍋🍋🍋🍋🍋

Your DIYS are all so pretty I just love the lemons...I usually unstitch one side of the placemat when it has a lining like these do instead of using two and since I love using the little pillows all over my house for different seasons I decided for storage reasons and for saving on the stuffing to just gently reopen the seam with the glue and remove the stuffing and use it in the new ones I leave the side unsealed so I can refill them again next season...and I can just store them flat with my other stuff. The next thing I'm going to do is to take some fabric either from a used pillow case or old shirt or tshirt or maybe a dollar tree pillow case measure out the place mats and make a pillow form smaller than the place mat measurements and just use that to insert into the place mats basically I'm just creating a pillow form and using the placemat idea as a pillow cover just stick the stuffed form into the place mats and then reseal it with hot glue or a loose hand stitch or other type of fasteners. Saves on storage space as well as stuffing, especially if you need to make or use several pillows for each season as i do. But for now I just reuse the stuffing and refresh it with a little more if need to. Hope this is helpful.🏖have a wonderful summer

Re: pillows...you mentioned using an inexpensive pillow for the stuffing previously. What a great tip! I bought 2 $3. pillows from Walmart at Christmas time. I made several tapestry placemat pillows with different sides (Santa then Snowman, Poinsettia then another Winter scene). I was able to use the pillows from Dec straight thru Mar. Working on my summer pillows now! 😉
Love every project , I just got a hold of the lemon Dollar Tree plates and bowls, so hard to come by, must have gone to five DT. Love what you did...love watching you young lady , so cute
For the pillow, you can also take a seam ripper and undo the stitches in a small area and stuff it through there and then recluse with a needle and thread. Then you’ll have a nicer stitched look around the edges. 😃

Hey Bethany, I loved all of your crafting ideas. You could use a flat iron that you use for your hair or maybe a heat gun to fuse the pillow together. I hope that makes sense. Thank you for sharing your ideas. I love watching your diy channel.

I made the tier plate and love it 😍 also put 3 small canvases together long ways top to bottom and wrapped them with lemon fabric and placed them in wall about 18 in. apart and placed a wreath in the middle with our initial in the middle in white. 💛👝
Can I say, as a seamstress, I even use stitch witchery or heat and bond tape sometimes for certain projects. Glad to hear you got a sewing machine. A basic class will be good to get you started, after that, UA-cam University all the way.

I forgot to add that your so crafty that it shouldn't be hard for you to learn how to sew at all! I taught myself about 16 years ago, I had no idea what I was doing, and reading a pattern was like trying to read a foreign language! I went from a newbie to making my own patterns for things that I wanted to make! You can do it, but be careful, it can be addicting! lol :)

I choose fabric shower curtains from Ollies quite some time ago. It was much much cheaper than material and it will repel the water!!! Now it's finding and making the time to do them. But I choose the stitch witchery over all that sewing.

You can find a lot of sewing tutorials on UA-cam and pinterest and also instead of sewing I have used the stitch witchery and added staples for extra strength. luv the lemons. I think I will use red with mine.
I've been making pillows for years out of place mats. A couple of tips. If you do not know how to sew by hand, it is an easy way to learn. Just close the pillow up with a running stitch. Also, if the place mat has two pieces of material (like the lemon one is), just open up some stitches on the bottom, stuff and sew back up. To store your pillows, un stuff them and they store flat. Bethany, love watching you and all your ideas!
If you dont have an iron and want to use that fabric bond webbing you can use a hair straighteners, obviously be careful not to melt the fabric if its not natural cotton but you can still do it by putting a layer of fabric between the hair straighteners and the fabric you are bonding together. I do it to patch my jeans (chub rub between my thighs.... if you know you know) but its really quick and simple to do!
Love this! Thanks for sharing. Got a nice set of the lemon dinner and salad plates today at our new DT. Sadly, they aren’t the usual stoneware plates and are only ceramic, so they won’t last as long, but still cute. I’m noticing Dollar Tree is cutting corners. The rolls of burlap are much smaller than previous years. I use the diaper bags for our dog as it used to be 75 bags in a box vs 50 in a box for dogs. Today, I noticed the diaper bags are now 60 in a box. Please stop cutting corners, Dollar Tree and go back to stoneware dishes so they don’t craze, crack and chip easily. I make my cushions from placemats by stitch ripping one end, open, stuff and then either glueing or sewing. Love all these ideas

You can find a lot of sewing tutorials on UA-cam and pinterest and also instead of sewing I have used the stitch witchery and added staples for extra strength. luv the lemons. I think I will use red with mine.

I've been making pillows for years out of place mats. A couple of tips. If you do not know how to sew by hand, it is an easy way to learn. Just close the pillow up with a running stitch. Also, if the place mat has two pieces of material (like the lemon one is), just open up some stitches on the bottom, stuff and sew back up. To store your pillows, un stuff them and they store flat. Bethany, love watching you and all your ideas!

after 4 dollar trees, I finally found all the bowls mugs plates cake plates cups and goblets! and I got the oven mitts towels and pot holders!
If you dont have an iron and want to use that fabric bond webbing you can use a hair straighteners, obviously be careful not to melt the fabric if its not natural cotton but you can still do it by putting a layer of fabric between the hair straighteners and the fabric you are bonding together. I do it to patch my jeans (chub rub between my thighs.... if you know you know) but its really quick and simple to do!
Love this! Thanks for sharing. Got a nice set of the lemon dinner and salad plates today at our new DT. Sadly, they aren’t the usual stoneware plates and are only ceramic, so they won’t last as long, but still cute. I’m noticing Dollar Tree is cutting corners. The rolls of burlap are much smaller than previous years. I use the diaper bags for our dog as it used to be 75 bags in a box vs 50 in a box for dogs. Today, I noticed the diaper bags are now 60 in a box. Please stop cutting corners, Dollar Tree and go back to stoneware dishes so they don’t craze, crack and chip easily.
