YES! yes! YES! my favorite read of 2023, my favorite read of all time. i always get so juiced seeing anyone talk about this! unfortunately i have a horrible memory, so details are often lost on me (plus its been 1.5 yrs so a tad bit of credit to myself) but alas thank you for this video!! i remember this book being truly life changing, the writing is next level and i remember craving something that felt new and fresh, this book truly does something i haven’t seen in this flavor before. the usage of perspective is mind boggling, and the prose wasn’t too dense after i got used to it. i had read the fifth season and LOVED the locked tomb series so i knew this book would be for me the more i read it. i felt bored with a lot of sci fi and fantasy after loving TLT so much, so the spear cuts through water was exactly what I needed! i hope people find you so this book is on their radar, it’s so underrated! (but i do love the tight knit readership who adore this book too!)
Your description of the book sounded interesting. Then I checked it out on Goodreads and saw the word "romance". So it's a no buy for me. I don't like romance fantasy (either queer or none queer).
I don’t read too many books where romance is front and center, so I get it. However everything else this book has to offer makes it worth at least checking out, IMO. And while the romance between the two main characters is there, it’s not shoved in your face and isn’t the main driving force for the story.
I am not too interested in reading a book that uses three different points of view (First Person, Second Person and Third Person). I have no problem with books that use multiple point of view characters, but I want the POV style to be consistent throughout the book.
Noted!
Yasssss!! This was my book of the year last year. Excellent review Sir!!
thank you! I know you were one of the first to be shouting about this book LOL
