Her theatrical background is easily recognizable in her very stage presence, moreover she doesn't just sing a song, she dramatizes it, she lives it. Her voice is so augmented by her adaptation of the lyrics from childhood optimism to adult angst, from "only" to "always," then the last verse diminished into the loss of hope. All of this reflects that this audition was her "last ditch effort" (her words) to rescue a singing career. Her next performance is defiance of all those who dismissed her talent in the past, "My Way" and her third performance of "Over the Rainbow" seems to be a TRIUMPHANT paean to her new found success and promising future. She is beyond theatre now, really belonging on the concert stage. I would have given her the golden buzzer for her personality in this audition before she sang a note.
I watched your reaction on her Grand Final performance. That song you heard now as the background is not the one that Sydney sang in that episode. The background song here is the one that Loren Aldred (she sang "Never Enough" in the Greatest Showman) sang. Sydney does not want to sing that song out of great respect to Loren who is her idol but Simon insisted. And she did it so well. Please react to her Semi-Final Performance, "My Way." That performance was spellbounding. That was my most faved performance of the 3. Looking forward to it. Thank you for reacting to Sydney. She truly deserves the honor to be heard and commented.

@@dennisorwin8716 Well said.
The background Song Somewhere Over the Rainbow was Loren Allred singing, not Sydnie.
Thank you for doing this reaction. Sydnie is really special.
Great critique.
